You really should read the thread back if you wanna get more information. To summarize it for you: the coin was developed in 2004 and after a while died out. MCF brought it back with Barrystyle as the main developer. He has put a lot of work in the project over the past months and there are a lot of things planned for the coin.

First of all, a change of algo has been introduced, it has successfully been tested and soon the core shall switch algos. Then the second big thing, Moonlite. A way of sending messages over the blockchain which can be used for a LOT of applications. This technology has also successfully been tested and should also make it's way into the production version in the months to come.

When I read some posts here or on somewhere else on the web about Mooncoin,
it often makes me feel like many people yet have zero understanding of crypto and decentralized projects.

Strange things are in people's mind, on the other hand, it's okay, crypto is a quite new thing and people use their templates of thinking which they have for traditional centralised currencies or companies.
But why not to start doing a research and thinking things over, after all?

It's clear (observing the Mooncoin price and the current market cap, taking into account that about 40 percent of supply is unspendable) that investors don't understand Mooncoin yet.

Common myths:

a) big supply matters - no, look at Bytecoin or at Ripple, they have billion supply and so what? Ripple has a $9 billion market cap!

Big supply has only advantages in fact, try to think it over, and you'll see why (more usable price format and available for everyone, there are several billion potential users all over the world). Inflation matters, not supply, and MOON has a very low inflation.

b) a dev controls everything - no, decentralized projects don't depend on a single dev. You can become a dev, if you have appropriate skills and believe in the project.

c) first adopters and an original dev had a big advantage - no, Mooncoin's price (in $) is still below it was in 2014.
Mooncoin is a decentralized project, no one owns it, it's not an ICO/crowdsale,
everyone is in the same boat, you can buy MOON or mine, no one is able to receive or received MOON in another way...

that depends on you, you can organize a payment gateway, accept MOON, auto exchange it to BTC, and then auto exchange BTC to Gift cards and let people buy with MOON at marketplaces with Giftcards,
technically it's possible, but it's too early maybe, no big demand will be,
because common people don't know about MOON and DOGE yet, it's exotic to pay with these currencies (and even with BTC now),

however if it becomes not exotic in the future, the price and the market cap will be not like now (!) remember it.

To be honest most people are looking for a short term profit not to hold on for 10 years in the hope a profit will be made, however I wish Mooncoin the best

As a general heads up; a new logo design contest poll will be posted in the Mooncoin Discord right after the current poll has concluded at the end of this weekend.

For the uninitiated, the need for a new logo design contest is a political one, as many in the official Mooncoin ANN claimed to have missed out on
or were unaware of the original logo contest and felt that equal opportunity, as should always be present in this Community driven cryptocurrency, was not fairly given.

This will be the LAST and CONCLUDING logo contest, until such a time that the Community at large decides it wants another one. Anyone afterwards who feels that
they missed out on voting or are upset they were not present to take part in this undertaking can go suck lemons, as it reveals their lack of involvement and presence
in the Community.

The suggested time period for logo submission is 7 days, with 3 days for voting thereafter. Those who have issue with those timelines, please speak up now.

Once the contest has started I will post daily reminders here in the ANN that the logo contest is happening. I will be submitting this information to all our
other social media outlets as well.

Why you want and demand to change the CURRENT logo? What is wrong with it? Is it mandatory and necessary at this point?
Is this the most important thing about Mooncoin at the moment? Logo contest?
Better logo suggestion can appear at any moment and if embraced by the community to replace the current one.
I did not saw any better logo so far from the previous "contest".

Thank you for your interest. The project is in early alpha stage so it is not ready for announcement yet. It will need at least 2-3 months of further development.
