Today, a friend finally bought Bitcoin for the first time ever  Smiley

Took him about half a year from creating an account at an exchange to finally buy "IOU Bitcoin". (next step HW wallet)

I don't like to tell anyone to buy, but if close people are interested, I answer their questions.

(passively) turning nocoiners into Bitcoiners that way is a good feeling every time it happens... and knowing that I saved them from loosing money on shitcoins....  because every single one of them asks me about shitcoins...  it's a fucking disease...

Phew, Buddy got brave, finally.
Or... hopefully, so he won't return to the dark side of the charts again  Shocked

The first time in a while the price went up after i added some sats for useless cash. thumbs up, buddy.

OT: As some of you might remember, i bought a cooled astro camera a while back, to replace my bugged, noisy DSLR.
Without a clear, moonless night ever since, i put equipment and data editing to the test with an image of a rather bright nebula. The beloved and also hated NGC 2244, mostly hated for complicated mix of wavelenghts. You can also see the green cast of the smaller stars in the center area, which proves how much i still suck at editing.
However, getting this object captured in a very clear sky (for longer times) would have helped a lot.

click for larger (still downsized) version.

I also keep working on trying to capture that Comet a.k.a. C/2022 E3 (ZTF), but since it moves in front of the stars, it will be hard to track, not even thinking about conditions (new moon, but clouds and fog everywhere over the place), having to capture this beast shortly before dawn.  Roll Eyes
Still hoping for better conditions...

EDIT: Biggest advantage of the cooled CCD vs. DSLR camera is much lower (read) noise, revealing much more detail in the darker areas, which would drown in noise and/or get truncated via "black point clipping". The total exposure time for this image was (only) 140 minutes, of which 95 minutes were kept for stacking, the other ones have been sorted out because of thin clouds, occasional vibrations of the scope, both blurring the stars too much. One was also removed because of an aeroplane crossing.
On the positive side, there are close to zero satellites visible in winter, because they don't reflect sunlight, as the sunlight doesn't hit them at the higher angled "path" at night (while it's angle is much lower at daytime). In Summer i often had to sort out half of the pics because of satellite streaks, mostly Starlink's (Fuck you, Elon btw!).
So, where was i?
Alright, i am pretty surprised in a positive way by the final image quality in terms of detail and noise, especially at these low 95 minutes of medium gain exposure at suboptimal conditions. Expect some more, even better pics in the future.

EDIT 2: in the meantime i learned more about colormetry and spectral layers and applied some new edits, so i uploaded and updated the picture.

Probably. But I have seen too much surprises in this market to be 100% sure.

I see that Bitcoin has continued to rise very seriously this month and that makes me confident that it will increase to even greater levels in the near future. In the voting made by Cointelegraph through his twitter, I chose $30K for the Bitcoin price level. What do everyone here think, does that seem logical enough ?

If I have to describe in one sentence the price action in 2019 and 2020 it would be "The battle for 10K". I'm just curious which will be the new 10K for 2023 and 2024 - 30K, 40K or even 50K? My guess is 40K.

Can’t believe we were at $16,xxx last month. I bought a handful in that range but sat on a pile of fiat waiting for lower. Feel like a bit of a moron now but it is what it is. I have enough bitcoin, was being greedy but greed is good sometimes Sad

It might be totally different this time, though.
I occasionally try to think about what we haven't seen (yet) and which one of those possible scenarios will be playing out.
Last bottom was $4k-ish, this one $16k-ish, so interpolating the $10k battle based on these numbers, $40k seems valid as rough estimate.
BUT we don't go up in a linear way, the 3rd bottom, seen in reverse timeline from now, was more or less ar $300.
x12, x4, x would translate roughly into about x1.5 for the next "multiplier", which projects a "battle for $25k" IF things continue as they turned in the past.
S-curve would be the no1 exception, bringing us to at least $250k next cylcle ATH areas, no or very short "battle for (roughly) $70k" (you know that number), followed by a yet unseen, consistent run up. And that would be only the beginning, since we would have just passed the flattest part of the S-curve in the last few years.

IIRC, didn't you unload at about $65k and got it all in at $16-$20k again?
You can still buy little by little on the early up. You know the game  Grin

My guess is $29,900 will become the new $9,900.

It'll go sideways for what seems like forever, occasionally teasing > $30k only to get squashed down over again and again.  Roll Eyes

But it'll still be a good thing, because On Like Donkey Kong.
