Wow. Absolutely no respect for the dead. I bet they did not even research this man.

They needed to make a list for their shit article so they decided to pad the story with some home-made BS. If they made a real list the only name on it would be Craig Wright.

Yeah, and that indian guy from the UK who gave an "interview" a few years ago (just to promote his upcoming "better bitcoin" in the end).
this guy

$BTC going up a bit, OOM happy because his monthly DCA plan started in early January Grin

I really appreciate people who build bitcoin mining farms in Africa to make electricity supply cheaper for locals!

Those people can't be helped. They are broke and have no wealth for a reason.

I buy 3-4 year old used or refurbed Android unlocked phones for a small fraction of their new price.

My SO and I are both still on the Pixel 2. Yeah the Pixel 2, from like 2015 or so? That I bought refurbed for $250/ a phone at the time. Batteries still rock solid, cameras work great, and give all the speed and functionality we could ever need.

Will only upgrade when these phones die.

Our phone plan is $42/mo.

This is the way.

I'm not as extreme as you, but close. I always buy new phones, and quite expensive ones, but I keep them for a very long time -- basically until they either die or can't do what I want. I currently have a Huawei P30 Pro (bought new for $900 in 2019). After 3.5 years it still feels like new, battery also feels like new (I'm quite puzzled by this -- how is there no degradation after 3.5 years?), its specs are great (AMOLED, 8 GB RAM / 256 GB storage), and its cameras are awesome (5x optical zoom, ultra-wide, good s/w). The way I see it, this phone should last for at least 3 more years. Still receiving security updates.

Wow philipma1957 and you guys are nailing it… for me I don’t know but I guess I’m really stupid in this regard due tomy own fault.

Well I bought my first iPhone 5 in 2012 (from Nokia to iPhone) and used it for four years until 2016 and upgraded to iPhone 7. But since then Apple spoiled me… now I have been upgrading to the latest model almost every year and losing $500-$600 in exchange.

I don’t know but my work place and my circle are all brand conscious dudes (none of them in bitcoin, except for one or two) so not upgrading to the latest iPhone kinda feels left out.

Just recently upgraded to iPhone 14 from a perfectly working 13 and wasted $490 for the device + protector and case another $50.

Clearly this is not the way.

Sounds a bit like you keep up with the Joneses...

Usually, I get a new and sealed Android (don't wanna pay double for an Apple OS) from ebay all 4-5 years.

I buy mostly from people who sell sealed ones that they got out of their subscription.  That way you can get them for 20-25% less compared to buying at stores.

I buy new ones because I want to make sure they are perfectly sealed and waterproof, so I can wash them under running water when they get dirty.

I see cell phones as an object of daily utility, not as a status thing (lol).

There is no reason for me to change them every year.
Actually, I like it when they get a little bit older and lose value, so I can handle them more naturally without any fear that they get scratched or brake.

Subscription in the country I'm in are dirt cheap when going for Sim only (without phone).  6GB monthly data, free calls, free messages at 6$/month.
