At least all this hammering of the price leads to (the chance on) pressing a stronger bottom. Better bounce, better ensuing rally, better chances of following a H2 2013 scenario.

EDIT2: Managed to wait for a bunch more channels to properly close out [...] making it more like ~0.19BTC that is was either spent, lost to bugs, or blown on channel open/close fees. Not that unreasonable, all things considered.
This post will age poorly Bob. Thanks for testing and using the Lightning network though.

Updated figures as of late last night put the total "loss" at ~0.088BTC - Hoping that will age slightly better.

Dare to dream what sort of purchasing power 0.088BTC will have in the next two to three years...

Wouldn't it be great if those 0.088BTC means you lost a "fortune" in your early testing of LN?

I am sure you will be very happy about it... and we all will Smiley

I hear that, dude.

The quality of moderation in this thread has gone way down. And with it, the price if Bitcorn.

Let’s hope so. It’d be life changing if we repeated a recovery of that magnitude.

To help nervous noobs and even some old timers out, I made a handy-dandy BTC Price Action Decoder (TM).

Print it out. Put it in your pocket. Show it to your friends. Quiz yourself.

Guys, I'm scared with the prices being so low for so long.

I feel desperate in these uncertain times. I doubt the next Bitcoin block will clear due to the low price.

Yesterday when walking across the street I cut my foot and now there is blood in the street.

It's so quiet it's probably a really good time to pause the blockchain for a bit and stop trading on all the exchanges, clear out all the bad transactions and pornography, lower the blocksize to something sensible, reallocate satoshi's money and all that jazz.

If I could go back to every time someone coyly dismissed another thousand dollar drop as just another day in Bitcoinland... The gods detest hubris, you know?

Whatever its length mfort312's Price Action Decoder does a good job of illustrating what Bitcoin's done, and could do again.

The longer the price lingers at $6k the more chance we have to load up on coins before the next pump.

I feel desperate in these uncertain times.

That usually means you didn't take enough profit in the good times. I felt really bad about the bitcoin that I sold at 1000 when this thing was 20,000 but at times like these I feel so much better having taken some good profit at 15,000. I know I'm a terrible hodler but taking profit at the tops makes it so that I'm not really stressed at all at the bottoms. It's probably worth it to be stress free.

Also, to anyone who is feeling down in the dumps about the current price action, I recommend downloading the Bitcoin Lightning Network app on your android phone and playing with it. Doing this has made me very excited about the future of bitcoin and reaffirmed my long term bull expectation. Paying a penny for something and having it be super easy and super fast and unbelievably cheap transaction fee is just fun to do.
