Bitcoin is almost in a class of its own in terms of having value simply by existing. Everything else has to have some kind of technological advantage.

One glaring exception is UNO. A rare trading pattern if ever there was one and consistently gaining on BTC in value. Now at 50% of it's ATH in $USD (that performance would put BTC at $9k) and starting to break out of its trading lane against BTC. Not too easy to get hold of, but still easier than it will be in 2120 by which time it will be 106 years old Wink

Immense ! The fine art market of crypto.

Fuck today I found out I managed myself out of a job. Bummer.

Still the team I established and organised will go on to great things.

Some tough irony in how much I have fought to keep that together.

No problem, I go back into the resource pool, lots of demand for this old looser. Wink

lol

they let you go?? F*** how is that possible ....
hope you get something new and exciting right away

Yeah no worries, just my move to higher up in group comes without me  Cool  hahahaha    fs

This is a success really (ignoring the management opinion), I created and organised a team who has gone on to become great leaders and organisers in their own right.

they will continue on to be very successful. I am offered to "wrestle back control"  from them.   :/

That is in opposition to all the agile development principles I uphold and the beautiful thing we have forged together. I shall not do so! I expect them to want to grow more if anything, right?

I shall gracefully stand down and move on to work with a new group of individuals on some city or gubbermint project and what will be will be. no worries.

Thanks for the supporting comments.

Takes a big man. Or a big woman. Good on ya.

Thank you

Hey Globbo, respect.  Short term it may seem like a bad call - but it isn't.  You think independently and do the right thing.  It's a struggle and may seem unrewarded, but you are a better man and will find yourself justly rewarded in the end.

Do it right, don't sell out and people who want to work with best will find you.

It's a rare quality, one that is precious and hard to find. Walk tall.

Bitcoin is Processing Fewer Payments Per Month Than It Was in 2016

https://www.longhash.com/news/bitcoin-is-processing-fewer-payments-per-month-than-it-was-in-2016

yes because of LN. Grin

EDIT: LN is off-chain and you cannot measure numbers. within a channel payments are not visible.

Hey, Gyrsur - you seem LN conversant. Maybe you can help me with something I've been puzzling over. 1ML (https://1ml.com/statistics) publishes something they call 'Updated Channels (24h)'. Are you aware of a definition of this term?

It means that some of the channel parameters have changed over the past 24 hours. Most of the time it is the capacity that changes - for example it could increase.

So... is it a count of on-chain txs made on the behalf of LN channels?

No it is a change in parameters, width of the pipe rather than how much water flows through the pipe.

And this parameter change is accomplished without making an on-chain tx?

it seems possible w/o an on-chain tx according to the LND documentation.

Channel updates are thus fully trustless. When making an update, both parties exchange the secrets for the prior state, so that all prior states will have been revoked except for the current state. Both parties will never broadcast an old state, because they know the other party can take all their money if they do so.

EDIT: this whole Lightning thing is a very (f***ing) complicated approach. no wonder that the Big Blockers don't like it. it's not easy to understand but it seems the right direction to scale Bitcoin.

Man... he really is one of the top shillers.

For a good reason. If it weren't for altcoins, bitcoin would not be able to achieve the growth it does - nor sustain it. If you monitor dominance correlation with marketcap you'll see that the the buttressing of the entire crypto market feeds into bitcoin's long term growth. So it's a symbiotic relationship, not a parasitical one.

Where do you think PC's would be today if nobody had ever entered the computing sector other than IBM ? You'd still be typing machine code into a teletype terminal. If you were lucky you might have advanced to a wooden cased mouse.

Sh*coins are the bow wave of this market even though bitcoin may be the ballast. (They're also a far faster way to earn bitcoin than buying bitcoin Wink )

Sig ad files above the sig?

I hope this ain't the future... Sort of bad form, old chap? Nothing personal, just I love it that sig ads are not visible in here.

apologies! just added the sig ad for posts of the Bitcoin Big-Mac-Index which is a project I'm working on and to reach a balanced cost history there.

If I post comments and other stuff here I won't add the sig ad manually to my posts.

Don't want to be an asshole, more so when it doesn't really bothers me... but please take in mind that it could be considered some sort of rule evasion. Sigs are not visible in this thread for a reason (probably in exchange of our generous and more relaxed special posting rules, such as multiposting). Maybe you should ask theymos for permission/clarification?

P.S.: In a completely unrelated topic: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARRI!

Thank you very much.
