been off carbs for ~9 months, plateaued now at 40 pounds down, the first 30 came off in like 10 weeks

bread is the food of peasants

Not quite correct, bread made from wheatmeal is such.
bread made from rye is a different story (as well as oat).
They are carb-rich but they don't have as much sucrose and fructans, which feed the "bad" bacteria in the colon.
Also look for less or no added gluten.

Wheatmeal is food for cancer, almost the same as sugar.
Sarcastically, most "diet" products are reduced in fat, but the calories are added back using various sugars.
Newer research shows that obesity originates from carbs, much less from fat. Fat is good, extended energy and less hungry for longer periods. The combination of fat and carbs is a real health (and fitness-) killer.

Sorry, nothing to say about bitcoin at the time. The usual boring volatility...
Institutions, bring it on!  Cool

Just bought £250 worth, will buy another £500 before the weekend. Got to continue to stack those sats. Really happy with how many more BTC‘s I’ve manage to scoop up since we hit the bottom.

These prices won’t last forever. Buy what you can afford to gentlemen. This is still a great time to buy & noob’s who come in during the next parabolic rise will be so jealous looking at the prices we’ve bought & are continuing to buy at.

Are you going to be passing the rest of us up, in terms of the number of your sats?   Cry Cry Cry

You won't "fit in" anymore, unless you are sure to invite us mere mortals onto your private island, for a visit, from time to time.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Had a lovely talk with a chap in a supermarket who said his doctor had told him to go keto. Is there any scientific research on the keto diet?

I'm not fat but I tried it before to see how low of bodyfat I could get.  It's pretty much pointless to do because it puts your body in carb starvation mode so the second you stop your body just hoards any type of carb it can get.  It's a pointless yoyo diet in other words and you will lose any type of fitness gains you make very fast.  Since it takes a long time to get started, you also have to commit to doing it for at least a month.  Probably the only people that should be doing it are diabetic types and whatever other strange medical conditions people derive benefit from.

Ketones are a more efficient energy source than glucose, so technically it makes your brain more efficient/smarter while doing it, so that's one interesting aspect.  It also makes it so you have zero energy to do anything physical. When I did it I just ate eggs + steak + green beans every day.  Usually have to use mustards as your only sauce because everything else has sugar in it, but there's seems to be some no carb/low carb ketchup you can find.  I would say it's also terrible for your liver and digestive system and will probably significantly reduce your lifespan if you did it forever even if you take a lot of fiber pills with it (which are basically required).

It's a cyclical keto diet. 5 days on, 2 days off, perfect for a week. No need to quit carbs as you can have them on weekends, and it's socially friendly since you can party on weekends.

That is dumb as hell IMO.  You already have zero energy while using ketones for fuel, and it takes a long time for your body to change over from using glucose to ketones in which you have even further less energy.  So during the week you have outlined you would be a zombie unable to do anything Monday + Tuesday every week.  Maybe even Wednesday too.  At that point you should either not be doing keto at all and just doing...actual exercise, or just stay on keto without dropping off.  The crossover period is way too long to flip flop.

@roach, your negativity and bias somehow still finds its way even to keto diets. Properly monitored and implemented, they do work, and not just the popular versions. It is indeed a commitment, but the serious people types who have tried it got it to work.

Powerlifters and bodybuilders (as well as some other types of athletes) who get on some form of keto diet tend to stick to it, have doctors watch them, ... because they do performances which are measured or compete on stage, so they really are long term types. They spend months training. They do one rep max workouts.

It's only pointless if you try it for a few weeks, then quit because you think it doesn't work, then go back to carb binge.

That is dumb as hell IMO.  You already have zero energy while using ketones for fuel, and it takes a long time for your body to change over from using glucose to ketones in which you have even further less energy.  ...

Your opinion is noted. Again, as I have said, I did this for an entire year. My body switched over to using ketones in about 2 weeks. There is scientific evidence for this as far back as 1995. The powerlifters who tried this back then had several world games championships under their belt while on this very same diet I just described.

It worked. Maybe you haven't personally tried it. You should try it.

I'm actually strongest on Mondays and do PRs.

But yeah, sometimes it just won't work for everyone.

You're talking about literally some sort of steroid user, pro-bodybuilder cutting diet.  Those people don't seem to care about side effects like having zero energy and mostly only care about physical results.  For other people, constantly switching on and off keto every few days would be far more negatives than positives.

Its also very difficult to alter your eating habits to get started, but once you do, it's not that hard to keep going.  But constantly going on and off would make most people cheat too much or even end up in some limbo of not utilizing ketones or glucose for fuel and probably having some medical issues from that from producing zero energy at all.  And why is it "negativity" calling digital shitcoins scams when they really are Keynesian scams based on artifical scarcity with built-in, rent seeking middlemen that don't remove counterparty risk?

It can be interpreted as accumulation, although I see it as a signal that can break the price up.
although it can be attributed to an internal transfer, or taken to a wallet in custody. And as the price is at a turning point I see this very positive.

Oh.. that means that your private island (still waiting for an invitation to the currently hypothetical location... of course, I presume hookers, blow and extra lambos might be already there, too) is going to be on the smaller end, relatively speaking?

Lol.

Having been on a keto/Low carb diet for > 4 years being supervised by my PCP I can tell you that just about every thing he says above is complete bullshit.

So at least it matches all his other complete bullshit.

I could take the time to break down all his ignorance, but I will not.  I will say I am a distance cyclist, and once I got my salts right (you actually have to make sure you get enough salt so your blood pressure does not drop too far when you are keto) I had no problems with my 50m+ rides.  In fact many endurance athletes on KETO are breaking their PRs and even taking 1st place in ultras and other long races.

The simple fact is refined carbohydrates are bad, in general, for human beings.  One does not need to be KETO to improve their life but just cut out sugar and refined carbs completely.  All things in moderation.

Its also very difficult to alter your eating habits to get started, but once you do, it's not that hard to keep going.

I'm not a pro by any means, and I focus on strength. Bodybuilders, in general, focus on aesthetics, but that does not mean they are not strong. Powerlifters, on the other hand, only focus on lifting the heaviest. That's what they do in competition, deadlift 600 pounds, squat 500, bench 400 ...

Your attitude is part of your problem. I don't even know why you keep spewing your garbage on this forum or thread. Oh, I do know, because of people like me who don't ignore you. Everyone else has already ignored you. I should too, but I'm too nice to do that. I start to talk about a different topic and then you're wrong about it again. (Or you sincerely believe you are correct, ... so hopefully if you do more research or actually try and commit to a real keto diet, you'll see it does work.)

The diet itself is cyclical. Its designed that way. Once you get started, it's not that hard to keep going. Plus eat a pizza every Sunday and still bust PRs by Monday.

Lol.

Actually, now I manage to act with cool detachment. A little experience helps, of course, but this system has many soft levers, knobs and faders. The positions, as well as the P&L, evolve slowly over time, more so the more the positions are balanced. That's why I have time to think, calculate, project and act rationally rather than on emotion.

I almost hesitate to wade in here. But you’re an old comrade. You speak of ‘cool detachment’. And when the Korn is being sedate, that’s fine. But all experience hath shewn that a strategy build on sedateness will be a losing strategy when everything goes skyward. Which it does.

I don't feel sedate. I feel in control - at least for the level of control a minnow can have over the river he's swimming it.
Besides, a strategy built on emotive reaction is doomed IMO.

And when everything goes skyward, I'll need very little trading anyway. Well maybe a little long just to feel like I'm getting a little more out of the pump. In general, I'm more cautious in a downtrend.

A great warrior poet once said  “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth”.

A great warrior poet indeed!  Cheesy

I've got my share of punches. Still getting a few slaps time and again, but I guess it's you either learn to dodge or get out of the ring.
