But we are on a 4 year cycle, not a three year one.

Yeah, I don't see any lagging behind comparing to 4 years ago...

bitcoin price is not the only thing that moves in cycles in this game. the FUD is also re-occuring in a cycle. I remember that in late 2013 there was big fear that governments could outlaw bitcoin. in the beginning of 2017 it was fudded all around that china would ban bitcoin.

I hear about this fear a lot lately again.

first of all it is very very very unlikely that a nation like the U.S., which is founded on capitalism, free trade, entrepreneurship and technology will ever ban an emergent tech. historically this did not happen often. actually rarely ever. cloning of humans is illegal (but not cloning as a technology itself) and of course developing WMD is highly regulated (but not outlawed). please enlighten me with examples of outlawed emergent tech.

another interesting point is if you listen to what others have to say about why it is unlikely to happen. one group (for example Roul Pal) argues, that bitcoin is not big enough to be a concern for the government and central banks. if its market cap is in the trillions it might become a concern. so, them saying it is too early to be concerned.
another group (for example stated by the latest article of Lyn Alden) argues that it is starting to become to big to get outlawed already. since publicly traded companies are already buying it as treasury, since PayPal is selling it - if we wait another 10x it will be way to big to outlaw.

that gives us the comfortable mindset that bitcoin is either too big already or it is yet to small, but when big enough it will be too late already.  Grin

yep, that is the sly and roundabout way....

I should think the cost to keep them, and particularly the cost of them leaving, will be significantly more than 10 mil.

So I'll take the 1 BTC.

Yeah, these asses are FAT. Almost artificially fat. Not even a sat for those. OK, maybe a tiny fraction of a BTC. But 1 BTC? They WISH!

Edit: Somehow they remind me of the Bogdanoff twins...

I have to concur. I'm not sure when fat asses became allegedly desirable again (they were very popular amongst Victorians, apparently). Once the deed be done, those two look like they'd a be a total pain in anyone's ass. With Resting Bitch Face and air-head conversation thrown in for free. I might throw them a fraction of a Monero but I'd still regret it in the morning.

We also tied the 15000 + record which is 11 days set
in dec 2017 tied now

2020-11-06  15,570.    2017-12-21  16,033
2020-11-07  15,076.    2017-12-20  16,724
2020-11-08  15,255.    2017-12-19  17,986
2020-11-09  15,364.    2017-12-18  18,634
2020-11-10  15,325.    2017-12-17  19,110
2020-11-11  15,562.    2017-12-16  18,430
2020-11-12  15,939.    2017-12-15  17,334
2020-11-13  16,279     2017-12-14  16,351
2020-11-14  15,982     2017-12-13  16,434
2020-11-15  15,972     2017-12-12  16,854
2020-11-16  16,409     2017-12-11  16,293

so if we close at 15000 plus on the 17 we will have 2 records set and be going after the 41 day record over 12500 sec in dec 2017 to jan 2018

I will try to find out one more record the longest 10,000+ streak

I believe it was pointed out by Jay before that 2020-11-11 is 15,652. 2020-11-15 is also 15,979.
