This is happening quite fast. It is a bit concerning or is that just me? Embarrassed
As some says all the time in here when something is a foot: This is getting scary.. hold me  Cheesy

Don't be scared, let me hodl you  Grin
Right, I meant hodl. Cheesy

I wonder how much the person who created "magic internet money" tagline has accumulated as of now. Undecided

Thousands of cars lined up to collect food in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend, stretching as far as the eye can see.

Poor Americans are forced using their cars (on credit) to stand in a food line for hours and the crazy thing is they actually believe they live in the best country in the world.
https://twitter.com/CBSNews/status/1328370997125410817

In which other country can poor people line up at a food bank while sitting in an air-conditioned, luxury vehicle, listening to music on a factory-installed, 200+ W, 6 speaker, sound system surfing the internet on their iPhone 11 max pro??  It doesnt get any better than this; not even close.  This makes 'Best country in the world' seem like a gross understatement.
I know of people who are rich go to collect food just to save even more money to make them richer. Roll Eyes
These food banks/bread&soup lines should find out who are actually in need of these rather than just handing them out to people in $50k suvs.
Maybe the one handing out the bread is this guy blowing the wind of god on all their food. Embarrassed

It's not a bad place, if you have the money.
Depends on the state. It used to be a fairly unified country, with a relatively unified set of laws but in the past 20 years it's become highly balkinized. Fortunately you can choose where to live: If you're a weird loner then you can live out on the prairie in South Dakota. If you like art and culture then NY is your place. If you want to be reminded that everything will cause you cancer then by all means move to CA.

The big problem is people are being shielded from the consequences of their decisions. Thus if you live in a state where stupidity is prized don't expect help when you're sick with Covid. If you live in a state where jackboot thugs tell you exactly how much you have to do to keep your car running cleanly every year, don't expect other states to follow your lead.

Weird, but it's possible to find a place to suit your tastes.

So every once in awhile I look at my Porsche and think "Damn that thing is worth a lot given the 2 bitcoins I paid for it". The value of having it these past few years is amazing, but those bitcoins would have bought other things now. Time however is something you can't replace.

I wonder if Bob is going to look at his liberated and lubricated ex-wage-slave and think "damn that boy's ass is worth a lot given the X bitcoins I paid to bail him out of bondage".

Oh yeah, I forgot, at what price point do we all fly our black helicopters to the meeting place with the fire pit and the massive rave?

It's not a bad place, if you have the money.

Most of it is just greed...using an excuse (covid) to collect $100-200 in "free" food, while spending maybe $5-10 (and time, of course) to drive in a lane.
I don't think that majority in that lane are really in need.

I've had a dream of a huge bonfire in the desert, surrounded by a rave of epic proportions, ringed by our black helicopters, noses facing in.

Think Burning man without the suck.

Eh. I've worked a food bank and I recommend it. There's a very old advertisement I remember as a child: Was a guy sitting on a nice riding mower with a big smile on his face, big house in the background, kids in a pool, and the caption said:

"This man is in debt to his eyeballs"

That stuck with me. In 2008 the market for "luxury trucks" on the used market went stupid-level because people were way over-leveraged.

These people are probably in a similar situation, not looking for "free food". Much like the stupid Christians include bibles with their stuff I think food banks should include a copy of Atlas Shrugged in every box.

Hm.

Go Bitcoin go.

Before you open the first door on your advent calendar Cheesy

I've already finished one advent calendar this year.  I'm a bit of an overachiever in that regard.

Someone needs to make an adult advent calendar with little airline bottles of booze instead of candies.
