People have explained this countless times in this thread.  You get 14 max activity for every two-weekly "activity periods" that you've posted in.  So if you've posted in 5 activity periods your max activity would be 70 (5x14).

i just noticed that it takes twice the activity of full member to become senior member. roughly 8 months in this forum.. fair enough to work for the rank that is earning a huge BTC in this forum. Cant wait to reach that.. still learning and enjoying this forum.

So ok. Why are members so impatient to add signatures, avatars, upgrade ranks? Any BTC earning possibility? Or some other gain?

Upgrading to a higher rank give you additional things to your signature (ability to add more characters, colors etc.) so your signature will be more visible and users can enroll into signature campaigns to gain some BTC: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0 and same thing goes for avatar, these campaign usually pay additional amount for those who wear their avatars.

Thanks for this doc! I originally thought that the 2 week periods would be set according to my own activity or registration date, so it's good to know that it is, in fact, following fixed dates.

I still feel like the account ranking system here isn't ideal (Exhibit A: the tons of generic, out-of-context, sub-par English, comments that are posted in many of the threads, purely to spam up the accounts). But at least with the time blocks, some of the laziest spammers can be slowed down a bit.

No. You wont lose rank unless you delete old posts, but if you don't post at all you will just lose out on the activity points for that particular activity period.

You are a Jr.member, you should be able to start posting images already, the pictures must end with the extension of the image (JPG, GIF, PNG etc.) though otherwise they won't be visible. An example:

So to give him an example, I simply typed "imgur" in my browser and that was the first result, so I just copied it here.
