I think this is a form of bash or putting the BTC down to its level, precisely the bank entrepreneurs collaboration. Although its up to them how to judge and generally put malicious issues to the stable cryptocurrency.

That's precisely what's going on currently, giving the dog a bad name so they hang it. Petty crimes have existed with humanity since and there's been different currencies and the eras they reigned yet it didn't stop criminality or these petty crimes so why lump all this responsibility in Bitcoin. It's just not fair to say the least.

Bitcoin is not to blame for any criminality acts because it was not made for the criminals and its goal is way different from serving criminals. Criminal transactions are being done every single minute and is transacted in different times of payment - whether fiat money, drugs, bitcoins, other altcoins and the like.

Bitcoin has become the currency of choice for cybercriminals. Its distinctive characteristics of decentralisation and pseudo-anonymity are also attractive to criminal actors in general, and yet Bitcoin has been assessed as representing only a low money laundering risk. In many respects, cryptocurrencies are still viewed as an unfamiliar, marginal phenomenon restricted to the purview of specialists. This article seeks, to demystify the Bitcoin concept, to demonstrate that, far from being low-risk, Bitcoin constitutes a substantial danger in terms of criminal enterprise; and to promote the case for greater awareness among criminal justice professionals and law enforcement officers in particular.

Correlation isn't causation, as well as crime and Cryptocurrency aren't mutually Inclusive.
This is true for P2P Platforms like Paxful.

Only blame when nothing is being done to catch or prevent criminality.

Do you think that the reason why criminals and other people use bitcoin is that they can blame it and label it? Are you serious?

No one will be able to take down bitcoin, if the way of doing that is laebling it as a criminal currency. The criminals are doing that because it is efficient and easy for them because it has a feature a criminal can use, easy as that. Criminals don't care how they are using bitcoin or how people label it, they just care how the transaction goes and how bitcoin can make their identities safe.

I think there is no direct connection between criminal activity and bitcoin. BTC is one of financial instruments. And, of cource, criminal elements use it as use other financial instruments. Some states afraid bitcoin and use it as a reason for bitcoin (and crypto at all) forbidding.

There is no connection with bitcoin and criminality, but what makes them connected is the way that bitcoin can be used for their criminal activities and for their safety.
I think they are being afraid of digital currencies too much, if they are afraid of bitcoin or others, that is used in criminal transactions, why didn't they fear fiats too? It is even used in criminal transactions a long time ago even before digital currencies was made.

Criminals will always find a way to go forward with their business,if there is bitcoin or not,so if they use bitcoin for their criminal activity , i am sure they will be caught in the end and many have being caught doing illegal things in the past and it will continue.

I can't really understand people saying there is a link between criminality and bitcoin. Obviously, there isn't. As one of the users said above, the criminals keep going. They can get paid in money, cash, gold, any valuable thing. Bitcoin has nothing do with it.

the history of bitcoin was it started in the deepweb, they used it for transactions, no doubt criminals were smart, but i think now that bitcoin is of that much value, rather than using it for bad, they might change their mine, it just like the gold rush, people tend to do thinhs against the law just to get hold of the gold, but in the long run, people changed their ways knowing that the gold they owned is that precious, giving them a sensw of security.

https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.
Bitcoin becomes very useful for criminals who want to hide money from the proceeds of their crimes. Because if they save money in the bank, money from criminal proceeds can easily be tracked.
Bitcoin can also be misused by people who want to hide their income from the government, and avoid paying taxes. Then, the state revenue from the tax will be lost because the money can not be traced.

This is the side of the weakness of bitcoin, so many governments are afraid to use bitcoin officially, besides money laundering is certainly more massive after the bitcoin.

Some of criminals are really taking advantage of using bitcoin for their illegal activities but we should all remember that even infiat money, criminals are using it as mode of trasanctions. Both fiat and bitcoin are design for the benefit of the people and really not for criminals

Are those criminals find the ways to become anonymous.
This can certainly be two sides of the bitcoin itself, with transactions that will be difficult to track, also proves that the system can move large amounts of money in a short time also.

You speak as if before the advent of bitcoin was not black market and the criminals didn't use the dollar. Recently there was a scandal on a world scale since the whole data in one offshore company. How many are there worldwide? And bitcoin they are not needed.

Criminals can use bitcoin sure. But bitcoin does not need criminals to be useful. So its not a two way street. Ofcourse as every tool, bitcoin can have criminal uses. That doesnt mean anything else other than the flexibility of the bitcoin.

Actually, the bitcoin can be a help, in many cases, to trace the crime and its perpetuators. Its because of the unability to erase the traces of transactions. Cash gives a 100% cover up of the fact that transaction ever occured, so the cash will always be the number one form of a money chosen by the criminals.
