Well, people nowadays doesn't understanding the purpose of bitcoin. You're investing it not gambling. It's is called gambling when you use the bitcoin to gamble. Since you are investing money and time in bitcoin it depends on what you see if your gambling or not.

i think that investing is like gambling because there is also a risk to loose but then again it also depends on how you use or spend your bitcoins although some are investing and using thier hard earned cash straight from their pockets to purchase bitcoin  but some are only earning it on some jobs like signature campaign/bounty campaign and other forms of jobs that pays in bitcoin.

I don't know why people say bitcoin is gambling. Its not gambling. You are investing your money and time. You use your internet. So its not gambling dealing with it.

Anything that involves value and risk is gambling, according to the dictionary.

Investing is gambling.

I've heard a lot of people refer to day trading as gambling as well. As well as trading in BTC.

It's just not. You're using skills to make informed decisions. In gambling, you're simply rolling the dice with no data to back you up.

well it's technically not gambling, but both the concepts are pretty much the same. You won't know if its gonna drop to 1USD per unit in the next morning.

I think bitcoin can be considered as gambling, if you invest your money and convert it into bitcoin. Because you take a risk investing your money hoping it would increase.

It is not gambling but because of the privacy feature many people have decided to make profit from it by either gambling or even starting your own gambling site. Sadly we now see many bitcoins going into gambling which gives it a bad name by the legal authorities

The difference with trading digital assets like BTC is that there is some potential inherent value of BTC that may be undervalued or overvalued at any given time. See Wellington W. Sculley's answer to Will ethereum rise to over $1500 in 5 years? for more on this topic.

Gambling is different. There is no inherent value to a poker hand. Instead, you are betting on the probabilistic outcome of a specific repeatable set of outcomes.

Gambling is taking a risk. A use of bitcoin today is for trading and investing, these two uses requires great risks like gambling because of the possibility that you can lose a part of your money. Bitcoin today is greatly used as a mode of earning a profit than using it as a currency.

In the one hand, i think nothing is safety, any investment in anything can be a gamble and bitcoin is a great example. May be investment in bitcoin is gambling for many people. They don't believe in bitcoin and it future.
In the other hand, bitcoin is a real investment to me, i learn and research about bitcoin much of time and i don't do gambling. Bitcoin has a bright future and i believe in my investment, it is enough for me, i don't care about how people think about bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not gambling since you dont bet or win instantly like a game. bitcoin is a virtual currency in which available as an economic market. As you can see, bitcoin fluctuates in market value meaning it changes in value either increasing or decreasing so definitely it is not gambling. many people assume the when money is related to internet becomes gambling since they somehow dont know how broad internet can be. you should try and explain them how bitcoin is working so they can also join this community.

In general use bitcoin cannot be called gambling but if we look and carefully analyze the meaning of gambling there is the element of profit and risk. The moment you placed your money in bitcoin you are expecting a positive or a negative result, an income or a risk of losing money. Thus bitcoin just like all other investments can be considered in some sense gambling but not fully.

Bitcoin is not gambling, yes that may be true but it can be used for gambling, bitcoin is a currency and much like any other currency you can use it the way you wanted to, well for most it is investing which is a good thing, some are into trading which is also a way of investing others just save not the everyday trader, bitcoin can be used for shopping, eating at a restaurant, fare for a transportation, what the traditional money does bitcoin can do with just small limitations. As for gambling, some go through that path others are lucky but majority are not. So just stick with investing.

I think bitcoin is not gambling as it is a currency, and the value of a currency falls/increases every second so its just like any other currency. People invest in bitcoins for profit and they invest in bitcoins for a long time waiting for the price to rise and in gambling people just bet and there is some % of chance to win. So, bitcoin is not gambling it is just like any other digital currency

perhaps in some parts of bitcoin investments will lead to a bit of gambling because not few users rely too heavily on their luck to invest or trade in bitcoin, whereas it takes special knowledge and skills to be able to profit in bitcoin trading, but in the long run ( long term investment) I think bitcoin is not gambling, because certainly you will be profit if you hold until the future,,
