Just beware everyone. Proof of stake blocks are flooding the network due tothe long pause on cryptsy ect. Pow blocks are getting orphaned but the difficulty will double in 4 hours and we will begin to see imrovment. This is really a good test fro the fix. Going well overall Smiley

Thanks for all of your work on this Mullick.

Yes, half the POW blocks I solo mined are orphaned. At the pool http://cap.coinmine.pl long strings of blocks are being orphaned. I have received several POS rewards, most flooding within 10 minutes of starting the client. ...Many after being generated repeatedly but not being accepted by the network.

Blockchain download/syncing was finally clean in in this version. No restarts needed.

What difficulty will double in 4 hours, POW? How is it possible to predict what the difficulty will be in 4 hours?

Due to conditions in the code the POS difficulty adjustment is based on a 4 hour window. It has a maximum adjustment of 200% every 4 hours. But it adjusts every block just like the POW difficulty.

 The POS difficulty will likely maximize its adjustment at least once more maybe twice. It will be interesting to see as this is the biggest flood of POS block I have seen. They will be gone rather quickly i would assume and the difficulty will drop again but much much less blocks will be generated.

This is exactly why 1 minute stake spacing is not a good idea. Its a good thing other conditions prevent the chain from generating them that fast. Otherwise it would always be like this. For now its not causing any problems since under normal conditions they cannot be generated quickly enough. It is an issue that will need to be addressed in the distant future. Its just due to everyone holding off on staking their coins and suddenly unleashing the coinage on the network right now

I've been watching POS difficulty since I installed the new client and it's been pretty steady. It fluctuates from block to block, but doesn't seem to be trending anywhere. My proof of stake rewards have stopped personally. Let's see what happens.

22:50:05
{
"proof-of-work" : 1.37519673,
"proof-of-stake" : 0.00398760,
"search-interval" : 1
}

Still seeing orphans in the droves at the pool, much more than confirmed blocks. Not mining this obviously. Waiting to see what will happen. Here's something interesting though.  Block 97560 was orphaned twice at the pool. is this even possible?

http://bottlecaps.kicks-ass.net/block_crawler.php?block_hash=000000009f8449ff80ac6a7ddda68a4707a169e6398e085c4a4cfd569a4d084c

It seems the difficulty is having a hard time raising. I thought pos blocks would be generating faster than this. As Proof of stake has a 1 minute block target. It seems even this amount of stake isnt enough to raise the difficulty.

Stake will run out soon and it will settle down there just simply isnt enough out there to keep this up it will soon be back to normal levels

The PoS difficulty can only raise at 200% every four hours hence why its trickling up

So the only two pools that I know of are Multipool and cap.coinmine.pl, and both of those are showing 90% orphans on all blocks. What is happening?

EDIT: adding links:

That's normal. PoS blocks providing superior trust score, and those blocks are generated very frequently (less than 1 minute per block). That's why there is about 80-90% probability of getting orphaned PoW block.

So the "goal" is to run off all the miners for this coin?

Is this going to be the way it is going forward?

I don't know the goal, but such situation is not a result of error or something looks like. It's a normal operation, for current settings. But I should say that selecting 1 minute block spacing is a pretty stupid decision. With 3-5 minutes there would be much less orphans.

No the network doesnt have the stake to keep this going. Everyone was advised to stop POS minting and the pools were as well. The pools hold a lot of coins as well as cryptsy. When they all fired up their wallets again it was just a perfect storm really. It will calm down very soon I believe

It is true this is technically normal operation for the code parameters. But the min/max stake age and many other factors prevent blocks from being made this fast under normal operation.

It really does show why these parameters need to be changed in the long run and I will be doing so over the next few months. We should see the network start to relax tonight if im correct with my understanding

Is coinchoose on the right chain?  They're showing almost 4x the profitability of my calculations at the moment.

Multipool - Always mine the most profitable coin - Scrypt, X11 or SHA-256!

flound1129

There are no wrong chains anymore, a bug was fixed yesterday.

https://github.com/bottlecaps-foundation/bottlecaps/pull/4

Coinchoose displays the correct block number.
