Let me guess, the card in question is EVGA or Gigabyte and the second one is another brand? Most likely thermal throttling is the case, 3080\3090 are known for that, these 2 brands being the worst (in that case only LOL). Note: it's not the core temp that you see in afterburner, it's memory temp, you'd need utility called HWinFO64 to see it. Download it, take a look at your memory jusction temp sensor reading and you'll most likely see 110-112 degrees Celsius. Common fix is to change thermal pads to good quality ones with 12-17 W/mk (I use these, https://cdn.alzashop.com/ImgW.ashx?fd=f4&cd=CB131w1&i=1.jpg) and do everything possible to improve  the ventilation.

Both cards are EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3090's. Not using Afterburner but EVGA's Precision X1 instead. 60c is way too low for thermal throttling when I have the temp target set at 91c lol.

Did you carefully read what I wrote? Did you download the utility and check your memory junction temperatures? You are still talking about your core temperature which has nothing to do with the issue.

My bad, forgot about that. I just used GPU-Z instead as I don't have hwinfo installed on this PC atm and yeah the memory temps are getting seriously high, 110c peak. I've been debating watercooling these cards anyway so perhaps this is a good excuse to get the air coolers off and replace those pads in the process.
EDIT. So I just checked the 2nd card and realised it's not that far behind the first one, sitting at 108c on it's memory yet it's still performing way better.

Commie is right, 110C is where throttling starts. If you keep your monitoring window open (by the way, does GPU-Z show memory junction temps? Didn't know that) and watch it next to miner window you'll see fluctuations in hash rates when temp. goes from 108 to 110c and back. And it may go as high as 112, too. As was already said changing thermal pads is the only solution. If you do it yourself keep in mind that EVGA doesn't put any (sic) between PCB and backplate, don't forget to add them.

PS merit is appreciated Wink

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Hello,

Running PhoenixMiner / Windows 10 with 12 Nvidia Cards is running fine, but when adding the 13th Card, I got an "Out of Memory" Error. Adding extra RAM or enlarging Swap File doesn't help. Using different RTX and GTX Card, always the same.

Is this a hard limit, or is there a way to work around this?

Thanks for help!

I"ve been getting system crashes every 24 hours or so with my 3080 at TT of 60C.  Checked the Tjunction, and it was running at 98C.

Changed the 3080 TT t0 54C and the Tjunction stays at 90C.  I'll see if that keeps things stable.  This works out to about 60% fan on this card.

PhoenixMiner 5.5d - hotfix available

Remember there is no 5.5d and the dev has stated there will be no such version.

Why is v5.5c mining slower than v5.4c? I lose a minimum of 5 Mh/s with v5.5c and HiveOS.

Hi, hoping for some help with 1 of my 3090's I use for mining. Using v5.5c.
The problem I'm having is as soon as it hits around 60c temp, the performance drastically goes down. For some reason the card stops pulling the usual ~350 watts and only draws ~270 watts after 60c ish temperature is hit. I have a 2nd 3090 which pulls much higher, has no monitors plugged into it and draws around 400 watts. That card will happily go up to 66-67c temps and remains at the 400 watts draw. I'm really scratching my head with the first 3090. It hurts watching it's hshrate go from 120mh to 90mh just because the temp climbs from 56c to 60c lol. Meanwhile the 2nd card doesn't seem to care about temperature and will chug away doing 122mh with 400 watts.
If you need any extra information such as logs, OC settings etc then please let me know and I can provide them.

Your card is being thermally throttled to avoid permanent damage due to the extremely high memory junction temperatures reaching 110 C. The GPU core will remain cool during mining as it is not primarily in use. Check GPU-Z (latest version) or HWMonitor or HWInfo64, you will see the thermal throttle and the high memory junction temperatures. One card is likely dumping heat into the other, or is padded slightly differently, making it perform a little different.

Ok i saw the new link
But how can we download it. I f you click on 5.5c does nothing

But despite of that, i want the 5.5b. Where can i find it?

I have a rig since 2017 and now i'm mining with Phoenix 5.5b now stable for many days.
I don't want to change it

Any knows ?

You just need to scroll down, click the "Assets" link to see the files that are included in the release, and then click on the archive you want to download (e.g. PhoenixMiner_5.5c_Windows.zip).

We recommend using 5.5c as it is an official release, while 5.5b is beta version. However, if you insist on using 5.5b, you can download it from here:

      https://github.com/PhoenixMinerDevTeam/files

NOTE to everyone: do not download any "hotfix" version 5.5d - there is no such version, and when we release the actual new version, it will not be named 5.5d.

Thank you very much for this quick respond.
I did download both versions and i will try the 5.5c.
But i'm stable with the 5.5b and my rig works fine.
I have 5xRx580 8Gb with mod roms and 30-31MH/s each card. Total 151MH/s with Crimson Beta Drivers
Thanks again

You should really be running HiveOS at this point.

I have 2 cards that are glitching in a 12 card rig running on Linux.  What is the easiest way to relate the card in the software to the actual hardware card.  On windows you just do not run the card and the fan does not run but the fans always run on Linux.

Thanks

You could opt for a middle ground, producing your own private key and signing all subsequent PhoenixMiner releases with it, without registering with an official CA to sign that key. You could then post your public key here in the thread's first post, so any future binaries can be verified against it.

Thank you for your answer, but this is not really answering my question. I don't need another paid OS.

Its definitely difficult to get 12+ GPUs working which is why most don't try but I think 13 should be possible. You say you increased the swap file without being specific - how big is the swap file? I would have it at 90GB-100GB for 13GPUS. I run 11 on a ASROCK H110 pro btc+ and recall going from 10 to 11 gpus and eventually got it working after increasing the swap file from 64GB to 80GB. If you already have a huge swap file you might check that your swapfile disk isn't running out of space (did that to myself once too).

Dear Phoenix Miner Dev,

With the impending end of life for ethereum mining in the near future any plans to add Ravencoin to the mix since other progpow crypto is already on the list?

Currently I am using 80GB for 12 GPU, but even increasing to 100GB does not help with the 13th in the first place.

Is somebody running the 13th GPU under Windows? Which settings for swap files and how much RAM do you use?

I was running 12 with only 60gb page file with no issues(pre 4gb max) Unfortunately I only have the Biostar MB so Cannot test a 13th for you.

During the 4gb rundown I switched to Ubuntu to get the most out of them.

Now I am using that rig for alt coins and have issues depending on coin / miner I have to sometimes go back to Ubuntu to get it to work(Haven for example) but it does not seem to be the page file as under windows no more than 2 cards will initialize(using TRM/Haven but works SRBMiner/Haven).  I have not been able to figure out why either.  Not sure if this helps you:)

You are probably running out of PCIe lanes with that many cards in use. Time for a second motherboard.

Phoenix still needs our support because today some of my friends asked if they could use this program.
NiceHash blamed the developer for a lot and still hasn't apologized. But they did not forget to post QuickMiner on Twitter today.
At this rate, Phoenix will become an underpopular miner.
