Customs could be a challenge with such bigger shipments.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Yea...I won't do it for one large shipment. I would rather send it to my work address (UK). That usually speeds up. :p

Will be handling Drillbit System UK/EU replacement components soon (waiting to confirm details, stay tunes) If I helped you and could pop me some treats for this Christmas, donate some BTC to: 1QEhKaUnFoEBaWmXsrE5AUvbAt95254DXr

I must admit due to my one lonely board (although now with added usb sticks) it may not be worth me going in with folks, but I'm waiting on the info from Barntech to make a decision either way...

Yeah, we had a PM going between 5 people earlier about doing this. One guy already pulled out. My own take was that it might make sense, especially since I imagine the per-board cost goes down if you ship more of them together, but any delays in getting your board would be bad. Thus, I suggested waiting until Barntech posted actual shipping costs to decide for sure. There may be other PMs between the other 3 or 4 that I didn't receive after making that statement. :-)

Agreed. I'm still interested in the potential of a group UK shipment once Barntech firms up some figures

Nothing sinister, I found I didn't have the funds available to buy the boards. I wish that wasn't the case as this looks like the most interesting project going on at the moment. I'm still trying to get some coins together in case a couple of boards become available.

Barntech also mentioned he would sell more boards if he can get a fair price on chips or the demand is high enough. He could also do well just selling the boards as a sort of extreme DIY kit with solder masks and a BOM. If Bitfury releases reels of chips at competitive prices.

Hey guys. Totally happy to ship in batches if people want that. I guess ultimately it will be up to you guys to coordinate. I can post up all the people in each given country to assist you guys in sorting that side of it out. It will probably be cheaper that way, but as pointed out may result in the process taking a bit longer. I'm sorry i haven't got proper shipping details up yet. Trust me, it is on my list. Basically it will come down to weight and choice of things like expedited delivery, tracking (i imagine we will all want this) etc. I WILL get that sorted soon. In the meantime, pplease feel free to form groups for bundled postage if you like. Updates on possible second chip batch aren't looking good. I can see that there is a lot of demand, and trust me, we would love to make more of these things, but i still haven't heard anything back about potential price changes. Currently new batch boards would sit somewhere around the $650 mark, which i don't really feel comfortable offering. That said, if 500 people are all happy to pay this, then we can do. Let me know if that does interest any of you. We will also be putting up the purchase option for blank boards soon for anyone who has access to chips any other way and is interested in fabricating them themselves. All our stuff we will be open sourced once we have done our manufacture run. On other news, the boards are slowly coming to life!

..... and Bam! They're all gone.
Thanks everyone for making this happen. I'm gonna do the final tallies soon and we may have a final release of a few more thumbs, maybe even a few more boards. Stay tuned.
Barntech.
