I think it's best that they just deliver gen2 in stead of gen1 without the hassle of refunds...
That's what i consider the best option for all but unfortunately BitSyncom think we are all just greedy and this dream will never come true.

We already gave them our money. They said they would refund it, so that we can send it back to them again.
That is inefficient. You should just give them more money. Don't ask for a refund. Don't make all the BS noise. Just send them your money and walk away. Wait until they announce when to send it again. That way Yifu can just concentrate on his core business. facepalm Of course! It makes so much sense when you put it like that.

On another note --> Would it be possible to know what modifications, if any, would be needed for 55 nm chips to work on the 110 nm design presently provided on Github so that decisions can be made? As in, are the PCB designs reusable with the 55 nm design or absolutely not? Also, some hash numbers per chip? Currently the newsletter implies no serious modification (serious modifications as in re manufacturing the PCBs vs minor such as different resistors / capacitors.) necessary other than maybe a new bistream for the controller board?
I read this in the newsletter. completely backward compatible in every wayYup. I'm curious on what exactly does that mean. They did note a Github update which does imply some kind of change - though based on their wording an insignificant one? Possibly a bitstream update - though possibly more involved. I'm hoping to be enlightened with details earlier than later. Probably means that you only have to swap the chips and the miner will operate in the same fashion as the existing Gen 1 110 nm miners. I am curious to see what they will be charging for new 55nm avalons, but more so I'd like to see what they want for replacement modules. I hope they would consider giving a generous discount to existing loyal customers who helped fund their 55nm chip - yes we sure did you owe us big time (especially batch 3 and trade-in customers who are like to NEVER see ROI with existing 110 nm miners). I'm looking forward to hearing some specs on power consumption. On a sidenote, is it difficult to swap the modules? I think they mainly just screwed to the case via the baseplate. I presume that we can reuse the same ribbon data cables too.

There is NO way I'll buy anything from Avalon at this point,in any way shape or form................you guys do what you want, but there are enough companies coming up to give my money to,that hopefully have learned from Avalon & BFL's mistakes If the only alternative to save the GB I'm in is to go with those 55nm chips, then I have no choice, but otherwise............NO SALE........EVER!!!!!!

I hope Yifu won't be pricing the 55 nm with the ROI calculation pricing like he did with batch 3.

And no info about shipping of the 400,000 chips they just got...nice
Why can't I shake this sick feeling in my stomach that the line about 400,000 chips was just another steaming pile of bullshit ? We did mention in the last email they were already in hand, are being sent out. this email is just to address those people who still wish to get refunds even if their order is "prepare-shipping" which is the 400k+ chips. Are you saying that the chips still not shipped yet? Or are you deliberate delaying chip shipping because you don't had chip in hand?

Add this to the long list of things you've supposed to have had "in hand" or "in production" et cetera. Your credibility is nonexistent at this point. It's sad to see you turn Avalon into such a garbage heap. So much potential, so much fail.

BitSyncom / Yifu,
What are you going to do about the trade-ins that still have not been added to the store accounts?
Thus far you have done nothing. Its been about 5 months. Please take care of the trade-in issues.

5 months means 97% of the intrinsic value of a mining machine. By delaying 5 months, Yifu Guo essentially take away the 97% value from this program. And I am very sure that this is intentional. They have planned this. They don't want to hold their words from the very beginnng. In the early time of this year, I talked with Xiangfu, a well known developer close with ngzhang (张楠庚)and Yifu team. He has tens of FPGA, but he just sold it on the market. I asked xiangfu why and he told me "he does not pay his attention on the trade-in program. (我并不关注这件事情。)" And I think xiangfu must have very early message from these liars that they planned to deliver the trade-in machine at very late stage, essentially destroy their words to the early supporters. From Yifu Guo and ngzhang (张楠庚), I learnt how low a fucker can be. Liar. Scammer. Greedy.

Started at $400 or something, sold the last ones at $300 or $350. I wondered why he did that, but then they announced their Avalons, so I thought that was the reason. But it looks like he knew better. We were naive to trust guys like Yifu and ngzhang. I emailed ngzhang on Sept 17th, and he told me "check the forums and the website for trade-ins". This was last I heard from him. Moral of the story: never buy from China.

good luck in getting many mass produced products... Unless you are Amish! If you buy via a reseller (like the group buys of chips) the responsibility shifts to the US based contact, but the problem does not go away... Moral of the story: never buy from an inexperienced outfit...

"Bigotry is the state of mind of a bigot: someone who, as a result of their prejudices, treats other people with fear, distrust, hatred, contempt, or intolerance on the basis of a person's ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, or other characteristics." I trusted Butterfly Labs. Using your logic, I can make the statement of "Moral of the story: never buy from America." Are you starting to get it now and how silly that sounds ?
