When the worlds first fully US licenced exchange does appear and starts listing companies, I strongly suggest that ActiveMining file its paperwork with the SEC and attempt to gain listing on such an exchange. The legal part will bring a huge amount of liquidity to the market.

However I see no legal exchange on the horizon, and this Havelock news does not seem legit at all.

I would prefer if they went ahead with the ActiveExchange instead of moving to yet another site. The share transfers have got to be a major waste of time for Ken & Co.
Really?  What are the advantages to the share price to keep them in an ActM-only exchange?

I would MUCH rather have the shares available in an open exchange where anyone can easily buy and sell positions, not a private exchange where only hardcore ActiveMining enthusiasts are trading amongst themselves.

Why do you want to send your shares to another exchange which is not registered legally in the US and will inevitably be shut down when the SEC comes a knocking. Share price should not be your only concern. Every minute Ken spends dealing with another transfer or share issue is a minute he spends distracted from ActiveMining's core business. Move to direct and lets get direct dividends fuck the liquidity and the share price all we need are div's for now and later once colored coins come about we can trade shares there.

TLDR: Lets let Ken focus on the business and not share issues by moving to direct shares for a while fuck the share price.

I did some Googling on "Panama Fund, S.A," and there isn't too much besides the Havelock article itself. I did find this list which gives them a 'resolution date' of 06-Oct-08

Either way, since ActiveMining operates out of the U.S, anything short of a fully licensed US exchange is probably going to pose problems.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 1, 2013 - Havelock Investments (HavelockInvestments.com), a leading Bitcoin Denominated Investment Fund, announced today that it has executed a definitive agreement to be acquired by The Panama Fund, S.A, a fully licensed and registered Panamanian Investment Company.

The acquisitions creates the world's first, fully licensed, Bitcoin Denominated Fund Exchange, where companies from around the world will be able to raise capital directly, through the exclusive use of Bitcoins.

With this acquisition HavelockInvestments.com will be able to maintain its current Funds, as well as expand its operations, while attracting new opportunities in the rapidly expanding Bitcoin Marketplace.

The original HavelockInvestments.com team will remain in place and will play a key role in the future growth of the company.

Please tell me Ken is now considering using Havelock!

Why can't bitfunder do this? I like bitfunder much more than haveshit

because ukyo is a pussy and would rather have all of his customers lose money than for him to have to put forth effort in protecting them

If Havelock Investments has what they say they have it would be nice to get ActiveMining listed on the exchange. It would be nice to be on a real exchange until a Coloredcoin solution is implemented.

If we get the verified status on bitfunder does this mean we have to report our profits/losses to our government even if we stay in BTC?

Im contemplating just getting verified

Of what I understand, it is only considered profit once you convert the bitcoins you profited into fiat.

This is what I thought as well... Im trying to find some legal documentation to back this up though. If thats true it would be very hard for them to track this

If you move to Germany and hold bitcoins for 12 months, you can transfer to fiat without having to pay tax.  Wink

Not the case.  Government considers it a profit as soon as you turn a profit in any denominated "form" of currency and last I checked, Bitcoin fits the bill for a "form" of currency as defined by the government (at least this is the case in Canada)... maybe America is drastically different, who'd assume!  Tongue
in the U.S., you get taxed on bartering - so even if you try to claim bitcoins as a non-monetary asset, (and I'm not sure if they would accept this argument or not - I'm not about to go ask them) trading one asset for another could easily fall under the definition of a barter. You'd have to prove the cost of the goods you sent to deduct from the value of the goods you received, which is a LOT harder to prove than you think it is.

U.S. taxes get you coming and going. And then they even tax you when you die.

well you cant claim $50k loss, but you can take up to a $3000 loss each year against your taxes, unless you have other gains to offset those losses.

On the 6th everyone that has shares in the AMC-TENDER account will start accumulating dividends.  We will be working on a solution to have the dividends disbursed.  We have a number of options available to do the disbursements.  As the whole Bitcoin stock exchange system is in a state of flux, we are waiting to see how everything shakes out.  We will be getting an opinion from our lawyers on the new Havelock developments.  We need to see if the new Havelock developments changes anything for any of our Investors.
