Ive tried both the older versions and newest one.
CGminer is not the right choice for our new blockchain, we foster non-wasteful mining which contributes to science.
Find details on http://uscore.net

Then why did you chose scrypt for the algo if you wanted "non-wasteful" mining?

That website showed me nothing of use.  It linked to back to the main website that had the newest version of the wallet (BTW has CGMiner built into it).  Kind of why I was asking and all.  But thank you for the snarky comment.  I think I'm going to pass on this coin now that I know what to community is like.  Regards Smiley

You are right, the website you link to is painfully outdated (no we don't support scrypt, BOINC only by now). That's the reason, me and traderman pointed you somewhere else.
Rob is working like James Watt on code and has no time to do PR-stuff,
so the main page (gridcoin.us) is lacking 5 months behind.
Hopfully, more people find the time to study this in depth.

today I got my first 148 GRC as POR (which made me very happy  Smiley . But then my wallet stopped syncing and now I have a grey question mark next to this transaction... and nothing goes on.   Shocked
Is there something I can do?

PS: I also have two such "grey" transactions from the beginning of november. Nothing chanced there in all that time. I didn´t asked here because this was no big thing because it was less then half a GRC.

possibly orphan transactions or made on a fork.
you won't loose credit for those, though.

At the moment we suffer from block chain mistiming. After the all issues will be resolved read the answer for the question "I fell off the consensus chain, how to get back on?" in FAQ http://wiki.gridcoin.us/FAQ

If you don't support scrypt then why is it in the OP?

SPECIFICATIONS:
Scrypt Algo
Re-target difficulty: 30 minutes
2.5 min block targets, for quick confirmations for merchants.
Block reward: VARIABLE:    5 to 150 subsidy.    5 is rewarded if you mine with a miner like cgminer without BOINC running, 6-150 if you mine with BOINC running, you will receive a calculated subsidy based on BOINC utilization.
Total coins: ~168 million (est.) - Based on an average subsidy of 100 GRC per block

Info in the OP is referring to grc classic, we have switched to a new algo called Proof of Research. Please read up on the wiki its all there...

Grc classic does still support scrypt, until it retires completely in 2015

I am not new to it, at least not to Boinc.
I use Boinc and Seti@Home since 2001 and the Gridcoin Research wallet is synced for almost one week now. Only the coins came in today.
But it should start mining or at least showing it has connection to Boinc and list my data, shouldn´t it?

My current Boinc RAC for Seti@Home is 29612
In your wallet go to help<debug window<console and type
Code:
list mymagnitude
, or alternatively
Code:
list rsa
. This should show what is being owed to you and your BOIINC Cross Project Identifier.

My dear, this coin is the best thing invented last months or years but it's an unworking test version. Not a beta version but an early alfa. It doesn't work as the devs declare, so don't worry about such minor bugs. There's a new upgrade every day, the PR-makers seem they can't understand the problem and it's unable to have support from the dev. Wait a month or two, they will learn how to do it and it'll be the best coin ever. I don't understand why the official launch has been done when the coin was unready to launch, it should remain in the testnet for the next future.

The problem was that a bug was found after the system was scaled. We had it in testnet for nearly 3 months, but since we are such a small team, large scale testing is difficult to achieve. The current version seems to be stable and is even running a feature (decentralized checkpointing, which makes us far superior to Proof of Stake protocols like Peercoin) that was thought to be the initial cause of the problem. Everything should be back to normal within a week's time.
