According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Cpt. Jean Luc:

Code:
[2014-02-06 15:48:38.805] "adress_ip": .... >>> java.net.UnknownHostException: adress_ip

it's not in my peers, so others host spread that.

shouldn't host be removed from peers (or blacklisted) if "UnknownHostException" was thrown?

Also, I have communication mask set to 3, and in 0.6.x, I'm seeing quite large number of (definitely larger than in 0.5.x):
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out, and
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

How does one calculate base target percentage based on the number in block.baseTarget?

Also, what's the meaning of block.version? Does it ever change?

100% = 153722867.

It's version of a block. It was changed from 1 to 2 when we activated the 1st phase of TF.

Hey guys.

I am currently on holiday from university. I decided to get into the programming thing.

Currently my knowledge of the IT world is limited to HTML/CSS but i am eager to get started on the more complicated stuff that is needed to be productive.

What language do you guys suggest to start learing when my goal is to write small programms or a website like just-dice.com but for NXT?

PHP is probably the easiest to get started with. If you use it, learn a framework like http://laravel.com - beautiful syntax... Otherwise, python or ruby on rails.

If you're into web development mainly: PHP, JS, Python

Python is generally one of the easiest languages to learn period. JS is the only tool available for client-side scripting, no real alternatives, so it's fundamental. PHP basically has no advantages over Python by now, but is more common.

It's awesome!

First time getting paid by doing 3D work, the work I like very much.

The rest is very technical for me, but I read all the posts here anyway  Tongue

Apparently Im the only one worried about blockchain bloat.  Currently a standard NXT transfer costs 1 NXT, and it takes up 128bytes, and lasts forever.  We are concerned about AM spamming so the plan is to charge a single rate (currently 1NXT, possibly moving to .1 or .01 or .001 in the near future) for all transaction types and to then just periodically prune AMs so as to make it too expensive to effectively spam the blockchain with AM bloat.

A 1000byte AM's transaction takes up about 1132bytes after signature/overhead.  And our plan is to prune out all those 1132byte spams periodically.  What if I told you that right now, I can spam 1231bytes PERMANENTLY onto the blockchain, for only 1 NXT per transaction.  And how cheap will that be when we move min fee to .1 NXT, or even to .01 or HOLY CRAP TO .001?Huh

Het Wesley!

There is a problem with updating to the critical version 0.6.0 with NxtMac-client. Can solve this problem please? I stopped forging, because I don't trust 0.5.12 anymore.

Kind regards,

farl
