Thanks! I am also using EVGA 1600 T2. How many 1089TIs can I run from it? I was planning on 7 maybe 8?

8 will work but the first slot has limited card length due to that mobo connector. The zotac 1080ti mini fits, but I think any other 1080ti is too long.

Here's my setup: https://imgur.com/a/hivgREj

I use that last slot as a cable compartment.

Looks great! Thanks. I was planning to maybe put a 1070/60 in slot 1. Where did you get that case? Looks nice . I am building my own, since I had aluminum extrusions laying around and a 3D printer (and if I decide to switch to a different mobi it’s no problem since all the standoffs are flexible) , but I am curious how much they are.

Are you only using radial fan cards in your setups (founders edition) or also third party designs?

https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/4218#issuecomment-414655548

fork is coming  soon  this should help my  new ryzen.
Shouldn't make too much of a difference I think... Maybe for a day or two. Last time they forked they already got rid of the ASICs. Diff has been pretty much unchanged since:

https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/monero-difficulty-chart

this one was to bitchslap  fpga's

I suspect a  drop in diff will happen.

Won't have a significant effect, doesn't take any longer to rewrite the program for a FPGA than it does for a CPU or a GPU.
In fact, the only "drop" will be from miners that don't get updated in time for the fork I'm CERTAIN.

I believe the changes to the algo are supposed to target the differences in architecture directly and cause massive slowdowns on FPGAs

I am reading that this new algo fork will do that and  will be working soon.

https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/4218#issuecomment-415744725

So practically & effectively this makes FPGAs 4x slower, making them much worse in terms of $/hash (see Xilinx FPGA, 22 kH/s CN7 for 4-5k$) than GPUs and ASICs 16x slower still being better than GPUs in terms of production cost/hash but they'll be useless within a couple months and not break even.
So this makes GPUs & CPUs the best thing to mine with, if Monero keeps the strict 6 months fork schedule.
Is this correct?

Yes, it's correct. At least 4 times slowdown compared to Cryptonight v1 for all kinds of ASIC/FPGA.

 2 quotes in bold above.

my opinion below

4x less then now  is good for gpus and cpus.

Well the guy working for whatsminer that built the m3 and now the m10. Was a big shot at bitmain.

He made the s9 or at least worked for bitmain when the s9 was built.

If it is true bitmain did not build a good chip yet it maybe because this guy left bitmain .

Which means bitmain will seek s9s endlessly as cheap as they can.

We've seen this song and dance before - the whole point to a FPGA is that it can be reconfigured, so pointing at "the difference in architecture" is a meaningless statement.

I don't see them being ABLE to keep FPGA's at low performance for long it at all since a FPGA is MORE configurable than any GPU.

Well 2 facts

Monero developers claim FPGA will slow 4x from what it does now.

Is it true I simply don’t know but they claim it.

Second fact the acorn 215+ altered their claims about  mining monero on the squirrels website.

Does this mean. They know the acorn will suck at it. Once again I don’t know.

But since two  major groups make new statements about monero and FPGA

I am guessing there will be a change.

I see BTC as the super highway and alt coins as taxis and trucks needed to move transactions.

New ASICs will also be many times slower because of the nature of these changes.

Well, that depends on ASIC implementation. We don't know for sure how their internals work. But according to a lot of scientific papers about hardware implementations of division and square root - yes, looks like 16x times slower."

so even if  asics are made they will be 16x slower

and fpga's once programmed will be 4x slower

these are the actual developers words not mine

So if they are correct

monero  should have legs here  it could be worth a buy and hold or at least mine and hold.

So what is everyone's input with what ETH Foundation will do with the issuance rate?

I didn't listen to their 2 hours meeting on Youtube but I read the summaries and I think this week they will make a decision whether to leave the ETH block reward at 3 ETH, lower it to 2 ETH or even 1 ETH.  I think they were leaning towards the 2 ETH.

One miner with a large farm commented that he is fine with an ETH reduction to 2 ETH per block but he would like to see some ASIC resistance by changing the mining algo. However the ETH dev doesn't think there are issues with ASICs at the moment.

Oh the crying we'll hear if ETH goes to 1 per block. Some people can't break even now. Imagine when revenue drops 65%.

At least with BTC halving you knew it was coming years in advance and could approximate arrival. This ETH uncertainty would have the trollbox livid  Shocked

Never liked Eth  once they did the fork to roll back the huge theft It got 2 coins stuck in a wallet I have on a mac mini.

I have never been able to get the wallet to synch.  It simply reaches the fork date  and freezes.  Even with  a 2tb ssd it wont go past that point.

Never got a good solution  for it.  I email and pm'd them  there were 3 or 4 of us with the issuse one guy had 6 coins stuck another had 11.

So I simply  gave up on the coin.  When it got over 1000  I spent days trying to free the wallet up  and simply a no go.

Now it is around 287.50    so  I pretty much think it will tank to under 200 soon.

I see BTC as the super highway and alt coins as taxis and trucks needed to move transactions.

Were you using the ETH core wallet?
The latest version finally allows you to sync with a remote node, so you don't have to go through days of local syncing anymore. Give it another go, you never know.

ETH makes me schizophrenic... Half of me wants it to go to the moon, the other half wants it to crash and die!
Guess it should moon - then I sell my coins - and then it should crash and die! Cheesy

Because of ETH's programmable/scriptable nature;  I have never trusted it...   Especially given the DAO hack and other folleys of that nature.

ETH == Adobe Flash in my eyes.... same level of retard and security flaws;  not to mention the closed nature of the devs doing whatever the hell they want... causing issues like the one phil and many others have gone through.

I only use ETH as a medium of interchange;  if I can sell ALTS for ETH at a good price;  Ill immediately dump the ETH for BTC or a coin i am going to invest in....    Or ill use what little dribbles I exchange for sit on the exchange as a bottom penny purchase order on one of the shitcoins I make $ on at the rock bottom price.... for instance the .0013 I have on yobit that is purely for a purchase order for 100% of BUB's supply.....   this way if it ever tanks to the floor;  I can potentially bag it all... which I am fine with if it even never goes anywhere.    All of my exchange funds presently are originally from my sig campaign anyways;  so nothing ever lost in my eyes.

Hi phill
If you have you keystore file you can unlock your wallet via myetherwallet and then move your coin

I have 2 or 3 hdds cloned.

I ran into trouble with this because I used eth core wallet on a mac mini and I had to try it in mac os.

when it happened it was 2 coins at 10 bucks each.  I did 3 or 4 fixes all a no go.

Said fuck it.  two or three days lost.

When it was over 1 k I spent more then 10 days and   after many tries I said f it.

At this point I am not even sure I could find the correct wallet/ core on the right back up hdd.
So as far as I am concerned Eth owes me 2k  since I really worked at it back then trying to free the wallet.

I know I would have  cashed out if I freed the coins  So their decision to do the fix of the flaw/dao ripoff cost me money.

So I kind of root against the coin  as I know the developers are not going to fix my issue which they caused .

I supposed if they did not do what they did I would have  not let the coins lay around and grow up to 1k .

So it is not the end off the world.

I see BTC as the super highway and alt coins as taxis and trucks needed to move transactions.
