So it's now Bitstamp Limited registered here in the UK, different company. Bank still in Slovenia.

What happened? The company has changed hands? This information should be made clear or people will speculate, considering how much money may be sending you, people must maintain trust.

I am concerned at the moment as I have quite a bit of USD sitting in my account.

i think everything is legit! i met the guys from bitstamp some months ago
nice guys which talked about plans moving to UK because of less strict law i think. so they did this step right now i think..

for me bitstamp is the best exchange out there which i trust the most! even more than mtgox. despite of mtgox is crap  Cool

Slovenian laws are far less strict than UK banking regulations. Intersango and Blockchain/Pingit accounts got shut down by UK regulators, and i fear this is going to go the same way. UK is absolutely the last place in europe they should have moved their business.

Regulators? No... No regulators have stepped into the Bitcoin market in the UK.

What has happened is that the banks dealing with these accounts did not want to support it due to the high volume of money moving through the accounts. Banks are very risk averse and if it looks like it could be related to money laundering they don't want anything to do with it.

WARNING: Bitstamp.net changed bank details overnight on 10-11th April. They have not confirmed what will happen to deposits sent to the old address and those funds may have been locked. Be careful.

Both IBAN still work, transfers sent to the old IBAN should arrive without a problem.

My SEPA withdrawal was initiated on the 10th of April, is now finished about 30 minutes ago, however it's already ~4PM here. How long till they actually end up in my bank account?

1 to 3 business days is what it usually is for SEPA.

I just read the whole thread.  Good info on pages 2 and 3.  I especially liked this response to some tough questions from Stephen, but I see Nejc dodged the question about whether the offline server was airgapped.  Does any of this info need to be updated?

Dear Stephen,

Bitstamp is very concerned with security and safety of customer funds.

In answer to your questions:

- Bitstamp is using cold storage.

- Bitstamp currently keeps 85% - 90% of bitcoins in cold storage.

- Bitstamp currently has new deposits going to our live wallet. This will change in the near future and new deposits will go directly to cold storage.

- Bitstamp’s offline wallet is installed on a dedicated server that is only turned on when access to the bitcoin client is needed. This server is in a different location than the main server.

- Bitstamp maintains a full reserve of client USD funds and BTC funds.

- Bitstamp maintains a full offsite database backup.

- Bitstamp plans to address the handling of compromises in our forthcoming terms and conditions document.

Thank you for questions.

Best regards,
CEO, Nejc Kodrič
Bitstamp d.o.o.

did a few sepa deposits. All where credited to my bitstamp account within 48h. conversion rate E=>$ was less then 0.5% under ecb rate. very satisfied.

Made my first SEPA withdrawal, and funds were credited to my bank account in less than 48 hs.
Congratulations, I will stop using MtGox and switch to this exchange.

I see ricklandman got his Euros converted for under .5%, which is great, as I believe mtgox still has it where they list your order at 2.5% less in currency markets besides the one your order is in.  Can you give an estimate of what it would be to convert GBP or AUD?

Are there any plans to support Dwolla?

Can I upload my ID and utility bill and immediately send a wire over 10k?  I assume if the wire gets there before someone has gotten around to verifying my account, it will be verified very shortly and I will be able to use the funds?

Also very happy to see that Hazek is working for Bitstamp.  That adds a lot of credibility in my opinion.  He should make an announcement.  I think I will put a link in my sig and start recommending this exchange instead of %*#* mtgox.

What are withdrawal limits in BTC for unverified accounts? Didnt find that

ACCOUNT VERIFICATION

There are no transfer limits or trade limits for "verified" Bitstamp users.

In the event that you would like to remove the 1000€ first time deposit limit on your unverified account
or the €10,000 deposit limit for any future deposits and/or withdrawals, verification is necessary.

Does anyone know if €10,000 deposit/withdrawal limit for unverified users is per instance or per account lifetime?

I would assume as I have deposited more than 10,000 over lifetime before becoming verified that it is per transaction or day or something.

Btw Bitstamp.net verified my account in about 24 hours, pretty neat. Still waiting a week at MtGox and only half way through the queue.

My international wire withdrawal took about 48 hours, pretty normal.

My support question took about 48 hours, which was slow, but this was during the MtGox episodes. It was a nice reply.

Good service overall. They handle a lot less volume but I'm hoping that they scale well and add some altcoins so that I don't have to use btc-e.com all the time.

This may be a new measure so I'd really like someone from Bitstamp to clarify.

10K US$ or euro is not that much money.

I didn't knew Bitstamp requires a verification. Is this just if you want to buy/sell with larger sums or if you want to use their service whatsoever?

I'm still waiting for a SEPA that I initiated on the 9th of April, confirmed arrived on the 11th.

Also, a few other people are raging over in the newbie board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=174754.60

I was told in a support ticket the transfer details all look okay, but it should take 1 - 3 days. This was after I'd received the confirmation from transferwise saying the money is in Bitstamp account.

Like pretty much all Bitcoin businesses, Bitstamp appears to be failing a bit under the load on the customer support front. Alright, it's no fault of their own (surge of customers to all BTC sites) but they could still handle things a bit more efficiently at least:

As suggested in the newbie board, maybe indicate a queue giving each person a position in the queue or at least state how many transactions are being processed a day - a small daily update indicating for much progress has been made would put a lot of people at ease and probably greatly reduce the amount of support tickets, freeing up time to process tranactions

A few people haven't heard anything in days and just keep getting referred to the post about overwhelming success and change of bank details.
 - on a side note, I think all BTC businesses need to learn if you have a bunch of pissed off customers wondering where their money is, directing them to posts talking about how successful the company is, is probably not the best idea.  Typically, in the eyes of the target audience (e.g. pissed off people) the business is not seen as a success.

I think there's a balance between transparency and agency. As a customer, especially when my money has gone missing - I only have moderate concern for how much success you're having or what your bank details are. My main concern is where my money is and how much closer (if at all) you are to enabling me access to my money.

Apart from the above points, I do really like your site and service - it's one of the few exchanges I recommend. It seems one of the few pretty, speedy and semi-UK-friendly exchanges, keep it up!

tl;drThis isn't a rage thread - you have a decent site. I would, however, advise you think a little bit about your customer support and what your customers are looking for and wanting to hear when raging about money not arriving. You could save yourselves a lot of time by doing more public updates on the situation rather than dealing with lots of individual customers through forums and support tickets.

Also waiting on a significant SEPA deposit made on 10th April to be credited to my account, unfortunately even the "please be patient" messages seem to have dried up now and they're just ignoring any support tickets and PMs on this forum regarding the matter.

There appears to be something very badly wrong here and I would strongly advise anyone considering dealing with Bitstamp not to do so.
