..
A definitive statement on the current state of work would be welcomed.
..

Well.. I thought Bushido's statement is definitive enough.  He stated that he has to prioritise the issues affecting his life and can only work on the algo change on his spare time.  If we, the community members want the change to develop faster then it is UP TO US to find a solution - finding developers and funding them to make things happen.

It is now up to the Vertcoin community.

So right now the community have 2 options: wait for bushido or replace him.
People wanted an update and they got it, i hope they'll stop talking and start acting for the good of VTC.

Or 3rd option - funding a dev team to _assist_ Bushido.  Bushido can guide the new devs with his vast experience in Vertcoin.

didn't thought of that, really good option.
I'd vote for this one, we keep bushido as dev and get new one to help.

You're actually right...I was under the impression most people read it as Lyra was coming soon...

I agree though, if Bushido is ok with community taking over with/without his assistance then that's what we should aim for.

screaming that it is not ASIC resistant is trivial... almost everyone already knows that VTC is being mined by Asics...

reading about bushido now is the nail in the coffin....

No he didn't died, he just said that right now he have personal problem he have to take care off so the algo switch need to wait. He told the community that 2 choices were available: we wait for bushido or we find other devs willing to do the work.

VTC isn't dead.

It will come for sure, we already have implemented code just waiting for integrating and testing. but I have another issue that comes to my life and I need to concentrate on that one first. After complete, I will integrate it with Vertcoin for sure. If you want to have it right now, hiring or finding another dev would be great solution.

Technically what happened goes by the name of "bus factor". The key man in development is made unavailable. It is a well known problem in software development. Sucks to read but those things happen and I can only wish him the best.

I think everyone can give 1% of own VTC for back to 1$ price level - i.e. for Lyra2RE successfull implementation.
So 80k VTC fund is quite real - and this new expanded dev team would have reward about 80k$ probably, but in case of success.
Seems to be quite good motivation.

1% of my VTC is ready to go...

(I would advice then yet, what additional algorithm should be combined together with Lyra2 as chained Lyra2RE - for 2-3$ price level Smiley

I'm in for donating much more than 1%.

We need to set up an address and start funding this.
