Any ideas as to who should host the dev fund?

I would prefer to send it directly to them and have them use it as they see fit.

With no pre-mine and never asking for payment for hours of work they do. They're welcome to a good chunk of my stock pile!

If there will be no other trust person, I could eventually host the fund (just to complete one of start up issuses)
I'm the KopiemTu author - so maybe it's enough to serve this fund.

I think this salary could/should be paid for development partially - significant amount after successfull Lyra2RE roll-out (i.e. "escrow")

Hi, vertans(3 paзa кy)!

I'm also ready to fund devs. = )

Just several words about vert(I'm vertan since Feb).
I'm sure, thet vtc is really the best altcoin. Why?
1. Really strong devs.
2. Coin didn't scam for a long time.
3. Good community.

But there are many problems with vtc. I think, that many nagging "investors" already leaved community, the rest of them will get out in nearest future. And we'all see is there a kernel of prudent people in vert community. "Antiasic currency" - that's not enough for coin success, changing algo to Lyra2 is positive, but just changing algo to custom won't help with coin inflation. Also need more merchants, need more goods availible for vert, that will increase vtc price.

Sorry for bad English. = )

i am all for this. i would prefer though that bushido and/or http://www.reddit.com/user/a432511 still lead the development.

also, if we can do away with the "price level" talk then that would be nice as well. if it comes, it will come. if not then we soldier on. the most important thing is to get the development rolling (if it's currently grinding) and the developers engaged.

To call VTC scam you must have really hit your head hard. You ask for us to read the comments but you can't seem to be able to read a thread.

Yeah there's ASICs coming for scrypt-N but there's an algo change coming too. Where's the scam?

Today I have second try to contact Adam via e-mail above. No answer until now...
Of course, I also prefer that Bushido and Adam will still lead the development, with 80k VTC in hands - as a salary for their good work (worth $$$ probably, when Lyra2RE is implemented...)

Vertcoin is a recognizable mark. Is a symbol of carefull concept for altcoin
- anti-ASIC-centralisation (against come back to banking model, where there is no system dispersion at all)
- fair, long term coin (far from all those Pump&Dump runs)
- privacy without mixer (better for business acceptance than all of those "mixer-coins")

It would be inexcusable fault to waste such kind of capital...

Having the Vertcoin devs to manage this may not be a good idea.  Bushido stated clearly he is tied up now.  He needs our assistance.

I like to suggest forming a committee to manage this.  The committee should consist of a few reputable and well-trusted community members.  Vertcoin has lost a lot of trust these few months. We need to regain that lost-trust and strengthen it.  By this, the committee will be playing an _active_ role to perform the planning, organising and communication (between the dev and the community).

The things that the committee needs to do:

1) Plan out what needed to be done to revive and strengthen Vertcoin.  I am talking about not just algo change but beyond that.  We would not want a Vertcoin that successfully changes to Lyra2, peak a while and then continue its slow decline.  This would be a pure waste of the community's hard earned coins.  And a painful and disheartening outcome we like to avoid.

2) During the planning phase, the committee would need constant and active consultation with the community.  The result of the discussions is a consensus-built plan.

3) Estimate the number of man-hours/man-days needed to accomplice the tasks listed in the plan

4) Execute the plan

5) Get the budget out and source funding from community

6) Recruit the new devs and other people needed.  I believe there would be some volunteers besides the paid staff. Monitor progress and report to the community periodically.

7) Market and promote the new Vertcoin to the world

8 ) When Vertcoin 2.0 Phase1 is successful, the committee can look into Phase 2 - the Expansion ...

What do you think?

wait, wait, wait! I don`t think it is the right way to look for new devs... Our devs did so well till now! And they will do their best to build up vertcoin in the future.

So I think we should look for a dev who makes the change for some verts and when our god-dev is back he takes control again over everything.
I like the idea that bushido advices the dev and works with him on the algo.

Also want to donate BTC or/and VTC

Thanks,

1. we should find out, what is the current new PoW development phase
1a. we should get access to already done work under Lyra2 ("It will come for sure, we already have implemented code just waiting for integrating and testing." Bushido)
2. we should strongly avoid at the beginning any hard topics, where there are many different, competitive opinions (e.g. inflation)
3. we rather should start from one and already promised step: Lyra2RE
(small steps strategy, even if hardfork with new PoW seems to be actually not small at all)

Current situation is maybe similar to Whitecoin few months ago - and we should learn how to handle it better.
(next to short enthusiasm phase - there was a long, very sad period)

"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat" is a good starting sentence here, I'm affraid...

The committee concept is part of the 'Option 3' I mentioned earlier. It is a role formed to support and complement the current Devs' effort.  The committee should consist of well-trusted and respected community members, the founding Vertcoin dev (Bushido), and a few other active and contributing devs.

The work by the committee includes accessing the current situation (eg ASIC, competition) and current asset (eg the partly implemented Lyra codes by Bushido and devs), before drawing up the plan.  The committee should focus on what would make Vertcoin _successful_ and not be distracted nor bogged down by any controversial 'hard topics' that really do little to no benefit to the coin.  Topics can be in the form of what other benefits/features Vertcoin needs to have and which it can bring to the world.

In summary, the idea behind forming a committee is to help Vertcoin succeed with a wholistic approach.

Every little helps jwinterm and we should all be just as grateful however much someone donates.  I've been with vert from the get go and find myself fortunate enough to have 2000 vtc to give, but I for one take my hat off and cheer a big Thank You to all who help VTC get where we know it can go.

And with that said, my hat goes off to you jwinterm and a Big Thank You too  Wink

Thank you all for the spontaneous and financial support.

Vertcoin is fortunate to have a stronghold of supporters.  Yeah.  That is how I started, fell in love and still believe in Vertcoin.  We need more support for the committee to have a good mandate.  To the rest of the moderate and quiet members, please freely voice your support (or not).  This is the time. Your support is crucial to our success.

I have a few names in mind for well-trusted community members to take part in the committee.  One of them is BBristow79.  If you have a good candidate in mind, please nominate him/her.
And I will be contacting Bushido to seek his view.
