Wow, so much for the good vibes.

Day-traders provide volume movement which is necessary to attract and maintain a healthy market.  Without them there would be no buy pressure and ZERO price movement aside from the "dumpers" who show up to sell (and drive price down).  Also, the only true dumpers ARE, in fact, mostly miners as there hasn't been enough coins move through the market yet for large dumps to come from large buys.  They are new coins hitting the market so must be largely from miners.  And that's up to them.

I've personally been mining since day 1.  I'm holding the large majority of them long-term.  But i'm "day-trading" about 300-500 in small intervals.  Just holding your UTC won't help the price go up anymore than not dumping.  Steady, gradual volume is what we need to attract new buyers into our market.

Hi all.  New to the forum (and mining).  Been mining regular scrypt for about a month.  I am using 270/270x cards in the systems I currently have.  On regular scrypt I get around 480-490 hash rate per card, which is pretty good on those cards.  I know that mining UTC it will be a fraction of that but was wondering if anyone could share what they are getting if they have the same cards.  Only been trying the Ultracoin miner a little last 2 days on my home system that has 1 270 and 1 270x in it.  Getting around 93kh on the 270x and around 77kh on the 270, which I am pretty sure is low.  Getting very few rejects but getting some hardware errors.  I have played around with the intensity and TC settings but everything I do seems to make it worse and can't seem to find any good guides on here or elsewhere.  Below is what I am current using which came off the UTC Leetpool site and was recommended for a 270x.

--scrypt-jane --sj-nfmin 4 --sj-nfmax 30 --sj-time 1388361600 --thread-concurrency 16384 -I 18 -g 1 -w 256 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale --scan-time 1 --no-submit-stale

Also the WU seems really low.  On regular scrypt I generally average around 93-95% but using above setup its around 50%?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Done nothing but read forums for a month about different coins and really like what I have read about UTC.

Well, you might have issues with either the intensity, or lack of RAM in your system.  How much system ram do you have?

OK, to continue the discussion about trading - how is a market supposed to function if no one ever sells? At what point do you all think its ok to sell? (My guess is that you just don't want anyone selling until the price reaches the point where you want to sell)

What's so bad about someone taking profits, at the price they choose? Each person that dumps matches up with someone else that buys, so I just don't get why this is a problem. The only problem at the moment is that there are more sellers than buyers, so the price is going down. The price will go up when people think it will make them money if they buy. I just really don't like the idea that you are criticizing people that trade, as if they are somehow hurting the market. We ARE the market. You sitting on your coins is not doing anything at all to affect the market either positively or negatively.

I'd really like someone to explain to me how the market would be better if no one sold. That's the part you keep harping on and it just doesn't make sense.

So +1 on that comment. Honestly what is this ? East Germany and a five year plan. Tires this time. No Shoes (;-)

I could just push this coin to 00000003 right now if I wanted, not nearly enough buy support.

I think it will hit 4 cents, eventually the last dumper will come and back the truck up, coin needed breathing room to trade sideways for a while to prevent it from hitting absolute floor, wasn't given a chance to, its gota die and get reborn at this point.
