I think his main attribute is honesty. He is upfront and not hiding anything. Other devs always have game plant to P&D. But Evan is sharing the truth even if it will cause a panic or negativity.

Looks like Evan won the 2014 Proof of Honor award, awesome to see him get that recognition

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=920053.0

Thanks to everyone who supported me and Darkcoin! It's a great honor to receive an award like this for the work I've been doing, it really means a lot that all of my effort slaving away on this hasn't been wasted.  Also thanks to all of you who are helping Darkcoin behind the scenes to become something greater, we couldn't have done it without you. Grin

I'd like to add my congratulations too Evan. Probably one of the fundamental attributes of Darkcoin that's been so assuring and confidence-building is your level headed commitment to an orderly representation of what you're thinking on DRK is, what you're planning for the tech's roadmap and what you know can actually be achieved. It's a stark contrast against so many other altcoins where the hype and hubris is all consuming and whips so many people up only to result in a disastrous collapse (there are too many to mention; most of us know some examples). I really appreciate this aspect of your nature and approach.

Software development and IT projects are notorious for failing to deliver on expectations and documented features/capabilities. But you and the Darkcoin team have consistently set appropriate and achievable goals then followed through with delivery. That's what's brought such good people into the fold and facilitated the loyalty so many here demonstrate. I found out about DRK through the BTC-e troll-box (of all places....they use to call it Dork....jealousy I guess!) and although I bought in at levels far above where we're at, I've seen evidence all the way along that DRK has a very good chance of succeeding and making an enormous difference.

SendChat will be integrating Darkcoin into it's messaging app. More information here:

http://sendchat.org/sendchat-integrates-darkcoin/

Bump that !
looks like they issue you a mastercard debit card and you will be able to send dark to this app and it will convert it to usd on your sendchat debit card. is that right?

You're able to register with our partner crypto capital financial services and connect your debit or credit card account to your user on SendChat. You can then buy or sell Bitcoin, Sendcoin and Darkcoin.
very cool, thanks.

when does this project launch?

https://twitter.com/petertoddbtc/status/554005770493521920

Peter Todd: "With Bitstamp on Amazon AWS, there's a high probability that some Three Letter Agency has a copy of their databases; expect zero privacy."

Aren't most of DRK Masternodes on Amazon AWS?

Public Service Announcement
-------------------------------------

Find your VPS here:

http://lowendbox.com/

I got mine for $8 USD / year.

Unless the masternodes are logging the mixing, there is no data to sift through, so yes, the 3 letter government agency may have a copy of your database, but even you can't figure out what your masternode processed (unless you modified your node to snoop and log off chain info).  Thus, just like the guv buying a bunch of their own masternodes, it makes no difference.  The few that log and snoop have to be well over 90% of the masternodes to get < a 1% chance of following a coin.  So this argument sounds great, but it doesn't matter which VPC/VPS you use as far as security goes.  Unless the government makes everyone shut down, but it only takes 5 minutes to start it back up somewhere else, so no big deal there either.

Now price wise, yes, there are cheaper and better options, I totally agree Wink

One thing that just occurred to me is that it may not be possible to guarantee the security of a virtual machine if the host is compromised. I don't know enough about the technical side of things to say exactly what the risks are, but anyone who has experimented with the live operating system Tails may recall that they strongly recommend  running Tails from DVD, USB stick or SD card rather than from a virtual machine for greater security. Given that VPSs are virtual machines, I imagine the same risk applies to them. I don't know enough about the risks to say what data exactly could be collected, and I doubt there would be a targeted focus on Darkcoin masternodes, but in the age of mass data collection, perhaps it is possible that some information is being collected.

Perhaps someone with a greater knowledge of virtual machines and the possible risks could comment on this.

All,
I would like to volunteer to help with the documentation.

I converted Darkcoin 101 to French, Arabic, and Polish with translate.google.com.  People I work with were able to understand the translations completely and ask questions back that might extend the basic documentation.

A conversion to multiple languages brings opportunities and problems at the same time.  More acceptance of the product, but also needed is volunteers to assist in the foreign languages in the forums and support pages.

Germany is the second largest count of masternodes so here it is in German:

**************** Amber Alert ****************

Bitcoin / Litecoin dumpfest commencing initiated by China.

Slightly frantic trading on all markets.

Lets see if things calm down. Could've been a big holder exiting. The buffet wave on BTCe alone amounted to around 400 BTC being dumped in a few minutes.

DRK / BTC ratio remains steady but LTC is falling again as they got a fright.

UPDATE: 2013 April high of 266 being tested again. (Came within $1.76 of it)

UPDATE2: BTCe Management have put up a 174 BTC buy wall right on 266  (<-- joke. The wall's there though Smiley )

The ask liquidity in the DRK / BTC market is so thin that as soon as any movement starts it should shoot up.
