Hee hee hee ^^^ funny Cheesy

But honestly, I don't get it.  I *think* all the innovations we see at Dash and Ethereum and other altcoins were directly inspired by Andreas.  I guess only Evan can say if he was inspired by the things Andreas said, because I don't honestly know.  I only started in this space in December 2013.  But from that point on, I heard all these ideas first from Andreas.  And I would think, being that we're following what he preached, that he would be so much more involved with altcoins, especially Ethereum and Dash.  But he's stand-offish.  So strange, that I can't help wonder if he has a chain around his neck?

Oh yeah totally! I had seen the Bitcoin logo once or twice before late Jan '14, when I saw AA's youtube talk at the Jefferson's Club, which completely blew my mind inside out. It was specifically because of him that I took Darkcoin seriously. It was a crash course on where the future could head.

What he says here is true, no doubt. Lapalissade truths. Everything is all nice and dandy, but can "they" survive the network effect? Because if it can't, it's all very nice but not really that useful.

Having said that, it seems that is his generic answer when dealing with anything other that Bitcoin. He's a smart fella, and he makes his money on the big market cap that bitcoin has.

I've yet to hear him deeply analyse anything other than bitcoin. Sure, he can go on about Dash this and Ethererum that, but it's all awfully generic most of the time. It's easy to eloquently bash Ripple for being in cahoots evil boogie-man banks... But that's it. Or talk about generic Turing Complete programming implications of Ethereum etc etc... but he never gets down and dirty with the actual juicy stuff outside the BTC realm.

Even still, I love to hear him talk.

Looks like the "hypothetical scenario" talked about re. ring sigs is now a real one.

So much for the much heralded "bullet proof" approach to privacy. The whole shadowcash chain instantly de-anonymised with a can-opener.

Of course this doesn't apply to Monero because they understand their "math" and shadowcash didn't.

This does not apply to Monero!

Yeah, it looks promising. Made a buy at 0.0094 to satisfy my crypto needs (and to get closer at setting up my last and final masternode)
Last time i made a buy was at 0.0056, those good old days  Roll Eyes

Edit : Truth be told, 0.0094 became too tempting to pass by...

Shnoe = Shen Noether, who is a member of the Monero Research Lab. If you actually read that blogpost you would understand why it doesn't apply to Monero.

Absolutely !

As I said - I totally trust the fact that the whole Monero chain cannot be sprung with a can opener like Shadowcash was and I'm sure the cornflakes buying public will all go off and "actually read" Shen's blogpost too to put their minds at ease, even though Monero's nothing like century's old monetary media (who's anonymity hides in plain sight) because they can check the math and totally trust the devs not pull some b.s. on them, the original (NSA) designers to have worked out their math right and all the 3rd party wallet devs not to have hacked their balances even though they can never verify them or their associated transactions on public block explorers.

In fact I'd say it was one of the most trustworthy coins around !  Cheesy

Does this mean I need to sell my SDC and Monero before it crashes to worthless?

it means you have to obsorb all information that is out there in the open about the cryptocurrencies you currently hold and make a well-weighted decision
based on facts, not on emotion. That is something everyone has to do for themself .....

Well it looked quite promising but hasn't broke the neckline so far. I don't see huge downside risk though myself. I bought some too

I have been very involved with the blocksize debate, as some of you might know. Though all this time I do realize that Dash has very innovative solutions to the very problems of scaling and governance that Bitcoin is going through now. Since the topic of alternative currencies did come up, I mentioned Dash in the bitco.in forum explaining some of its main features and so forth. Of course the subject of Dash's early history did come up, I did my best to honestly explain the circumstances. If anyone here wants to add anything to what I have already said you are welcome to do so.

https://bitco.in/forum/threads/alternative-cryptocurrency-discussion.882/

I also further explained some of the benefits of Dash here:
https://bitco.in/forum/threads/gold-collapsing-bitcoin-up.16/page-328#post-11847

Figured you guys would appreciate that. Smiley

Just added to the count too  Grin

Also a shout out to Moocowmoo and his DASHMAN masternode management utilities. Thanks for sharing with the community.

https://dashtalk.org/threads/dashman-linux-masternode-mangement-made-mootastic.6376/

If you are planning on setting up your first masternode then i would suggest the above utility and use one of the guides from the official forum:

https://dashtalk.org/forums/masternode-guides.66/

Thanks ceti
I like dashman also.
Dashman is good masternode manager.
Increasing masternodes number,  there are many supporters to DASH.

He sounded fairly supportive of alt coins, he suggests there is a potential scaling problem with the governance voting system.

Even still, his dialogue is a classic deflection without being negative about Dash. Not that it's his intention to be negative, but not to show he doesn't know all that much about it. This is pretty much standard with highly eloquent individuals. Politicians are extensively trained in this form of discourse.

Very common on TV and radio... there is actually a technical name which I forget right now.

"I think you are completely wrong and only say bogus, but I'm not going to tell you what"

"Ah yes, it very interesting you mention that. And I tend to agree with what you say. Nevertheless, there are other who believe that what I say actually has strong fundamentals, and "bogus" is in fact a cultural phenomena with a high degree of subjectiveness. Did you know the etymology of "bogus" actually comes from late 18th century, originally in the US, denoting a machine for making counterfeit money?"

Now tell me truthfully, when you read this^ did you hear Andrea's voice in your head?
I am a huge fan of Andreas myself, though what you are saying about the guy is not wrong. I think he is a master at public speaking, this is something I really admire in the guy and it goes a long way in evangelizing cryptocurrencies. To be the best public speaker in a subject does not require you to be the greatest expert in said subject, it is a different skill set. What Andreas does is performance and art, I look up to what he does hoping that one day I might be as good of a public speaker as he is.

I do respect his thinking, but it is good to keep in mind that when Andreas does a speech, there is acting as well as intellectualism, these two go together to arouse our emotions and inspire us. This I appreciate, I want to be inspired.

The term you are looking for might be demagogue or sophist. Though personally I think that is a bit harsh, I just think he is a great public speaker, knowing how to engage his audience and inspire, we should be thankful that we have such a person promoting cryptocurrency. Smiley
