DRK will be USD$101 in 2015.

We should turn this into a competition. Price is right style (the closest without going over).

What is the closing price January 1st, 2015 in USD (using cryptsy and bitcoinaverage.com)?

Winner gets???

I like the idea! But should we start a topic on darkcointalk?

In this case, one could also encrypt the wallet.dat with a random key and immediately destroy it forever (so even you don't know it) with a single key pair inside and print out the private key as a paper wallet which can be kept somewhere safe (e.g. not in your house and/or next to the server hardware).
When you decide to shut the node down and spend your coins, you simply delete your wallet.dat and import the private key from the paper wallet to a freshly generated wallet.dat

That's not really going to work. Upon starting the masternode up, it's going to need to sign the input with the 1000DRK to show you own it. After that all messages will use a separate key, so the wallet can be encrypted until the next restart.

[/quote]

What do you mean? Huh
1: darkcoind can't become a masternode without unlocking the wallet with the original passphrase to sign a message?
2: the original private key on the paper wallet won't unlock all of it's coins after a darkcoind have used the encrypted wallet.dat to become a masternode and got shutdown in the mean time?

I don't think it's case 1 because as much as I can tell, I successfully started a masternode already without ever unlocking my wallet with the wallet passphrase. However, case 2 sounds way too risky.

What's going on with the SSL bug, is it affecting Darkcoin? If so Even should update the client ASAP!

It does and it doesn't.
Do you use TLS encryption for sending RPC commands to the wallet daemon?
If not (if you don't know then you don't), then you can spare this time you would worrying about coin wallets and use it to worry about everything else what actually used the problematic function (!!a lot of things!!).

Prost!  A business did post in this thread to let us know he was accepting dark payments and the business decorates glasses, so you CAN get a glass like that!  I just didn't save the link.  Can anyone help here?

Well, I don't, but doesn't matter! Someone does! Therefore it should be fixed!

They probably updated their OpenSSL source package and recompiled the Darkcoin wallet/daemon.

I know I already asked this before but I didn't have a chance to investigate further. I am trying to get my old wallet (xcoin) to sync so I can transfer my balance to new DarkCoin wallet

all you *should*  have to do is drop your old wallet.dat file into the new Darkcoin wallet's .darkcoin folder (normally hidden in /home file in Ubuntu) or it's the darkcoin folder in /User/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/darkcoin in windows Vista, 7 and 8

*remove the old (newer) wallet.dat file first, don't merge. Just in case.*

If that doesn't work, something might be wrong with your old xcoin wallet.dat (which should be completely interchangeable with a darkcoind wallet.dat)

I very much like this estimate, but tbh, if it was around $50, I'd be very happy! lol. Your estimate...I'd be ecstatic lol.

i need darkcoin GPU SOLO Mining Guide.

i am already mining on pool, i got receved some coins in my windows wallet, but i am also receving some minor values in drk cons in my wallet.

Now i want to try solo mining, i can not figuire out how to do this. Anyone can help with step by step guide ?

How to use those below ?

Code:
addnode=54.80.16.112
addnode=23.23.186.131
addnode=50.16.206.102
addnode=50.19.116.123
addnode=98.165.130.67
addnode=54.242.50.205
addnode=50.17.98.53
addnode=54.225.43.37

I can't help you with a guide for doing it, but I will suggest that it's not going to be fruitful. At all. Unless you have a warehouse full of video cards all to yourself and hashpower exceeding 5% of total network...

The closest thing to solo mining you can do at this point is to use P2pool.  You can join one or you can set one up  for yourself.

those addnodes are ip addresses that are known to be online most of the time and you can add them to your darkcoin.conf file in your darkcoin folder (not where the wallet.exe resides) by making a darkcoin.conf file (in text doc, make sure you save as 'other'.  It sometimes helps downloading the blockchain and gives you more active connections Smiley

I think what he means is that when you start up your masternode, before it gets encrypted, it has to prove it has 1000 dark in it and is awarded a key that says he can be a master node.  Then, right after it's started, and proved itself, it locks down the coin, engages the encryption and uses the key it was awarded to perform his duties.....

I have turned the wallet into a him, no idea why, LOL.  Son is talking about Master and Commander next to me with his father, prob. why....

Who is the admin of darkcointalk ? Could you confirm my registration please ? (Joined Sunday)

You should have received an activation e-mail. I know some people (including myself) were having issues with Hotmail/Outlook accounts not getting the e-mail, but supposedly it's been fixed.

I believe Propulsion is the admin.

Thanks, it's Gmail for me. Nothing ...

Ah, but which logo will it be? I can't wait to see which one gets picked.

Number 6 is way out in front at the moment.

Vote now, or troll later!

I prefer 10.

6 is slick, but it fails to visually convey the notion of security, privacy, that the coin provides. I'd like 6 if it has some kind of lock/key imagery.
