I know it's a bit utopian, but ultimately it would be much better if retailers held on to their DRK (or BTC). If not, you have a system in which people spend fiat or BTC to buy DRK probably hoping that it will increase in value, or in the worst case scenario, not fall. The you have retailers trying to attract customers who want to spend DRK, not necessarily because they believe in it but because they see an opportunity to make money. That would be ok, but when they trade directly for fiat the price goes down a little and the more success these retailers have, the more downward pressure there is on the price.

It's not utopian - just ahead of our time. Adoption takes time and this can be accelerated (or not) but it will still take time. BTC is on for 5 years and its adoption is near zero in real life terms. Paypal wasn't widely adopted for quite a few years too.

In the future when Darkcoin is more established, it would be great to see a company like Coinbase springing up which only offers DARK>Fiat conversion. Then we could really move beyond BTC fluctuations.

I don't know if it's really possible to escape them due to arbitrage opportunities in the DRK/fiat vs DRK/BTC markets. If they deviate a few % between each other then traders will fill that vacuum by moving DRKs around vs fiat or BTC, from the cheapest pair to the most expensive pair. So, naturally, these two prices will be very closely aligned.

LTC has LTC/fiat pair in a few exchanges yet it goes up and down due to the same mechanism.

Speaking of Megacoin, I think someone is pumping coins by taking turns. Zeta, then Black, now I was looking coinmarketcap, Mega is up +125%... lol.

You expect to see it in very low value BTC coins like Saturncoin, as 1-3 satoshi increases in a positive BTC environment cause very big $ gains but something like Megacoin reeks a bit of pump

Good point but I guess I'm thinking about DRK demand growing with transactions more than speculation. As DRK gets used for purchases the ease of converting Fiat to DRK without buying BTC will be important for DRK demand. Arbitrage will bring the DRK>Fiat and DRK>BTC together by traders but hopefully that user demand of DRK>Fiat means the DRK>BTC markets will be adjusting up.

LTC>Fiat and LTC>BTC is all about speculation.

The Chinese seem to love Megacoin though so this price increase may just be a reaction to the Chinese still being in the game. Speaking of Chinese, when will we be able to trade dark on btc38?

The market cap rankings are a sea of +20-50%'s right now, with the exception of DRK, VTC, and XCP (a technologically innovative non-fork coin that implements financial instruments).

It seems trying to do something interesting is actually a curse in altcoin-land. Grin

Ive been on a mining pool that mines various profitable currencies and exchanges them for NXT, ive got abour 3.5K of NXT at present, and megacoin is one of the coins my mining pool has been mining and exchanging for NXT, its possible that what you have observed is from such a pool?

does anyone know about blue midnight wish?

can someone set-up a miner for that relatively easily with sph-sgminer?

I'm not sure what that is. Can you elaborate?

Zerocash are going to run with it as their hashing algo, looking at Matthew Green's twitter.

I think blue midnight wish is in x11 but it's listed as bmw.

bmw is indeed blue midnight wish

Can anybody explain to me why the total coins were reduced from 84 million to 22 million?..
Because as far as i think who had a such amount of coins in the wallet, after reducing have a percent of total coin 4 times more... and also the value i think got higher...
Is it correct?

Even Bitcoin is mixing up its transactions ….. DRK and Anonymity are so the future !
We gotta get this out there !
I have the feeling people still do not know !!!

Cryptocurrency and crypto-monetary system with high anonymity are what we need.

Bitcoin has already shown us a lot of its disadvantages.

No doubt 2014 is the year of finding another currency to become forward motion vector.

I believe that Darkcoin  and Bytecoin are going to become that vector as both have a highly anonymous payment scheme.

Anyway, onwards and upwards, what do you recommend I buy Dotnetmin?

Nice tactics... tell everyone it is dying, wait for price to go down.....buy lots of cheap coins.....watch the price go up.

I like it.

Shows you have a lot of faith in the price going up.  Wink

I have 50% of net worth in DRK, I'm wondering whether I should put in more.

Um, I hope you're referring to crypto net worth alone. If that's the case, I'm at 90% and I'm not sweating it. Not much else interesting out there except other anonymous coins, and this is currently the least problematic one.

90% of my crypto net here, and that accounts for more than 50% of my total net worth.

I don´t know where to go. I like the DRK anonymos and X11 concept but also not sure to invest more.
I already swaped a few LTC to DRK.
I want´t to mine DRK but for me it´s better to buy than mine because my powercost in germany is too high.
The same money i have to pay for mining one day with my rig ( mining = 6 DRK / 24h) i can buy 8 DRK.

For me ( and all other germans who have to pay for electricity ) no coin is profitable to mine.
To stay in the game i have to buy instead of mining.
Only question, which coin
