Masternodes, please restart!

I've noticed some nodes popping in and out of the masternode lists. I'd like all of the masternodes to follow these instructions to see if the problem gets fixed

1.) stop the daemon
2.) update to 10.8.6 if you haven't
3.) add "maxconnections=200" to your configuration
4.) wait ten minutes (it MUST be ten minutes! This will allow the masternode election entry to propagate)
5.) start the daemon and turn on the masternode

bump, plus should this have gone out on the mailing list?

I’m a believer in this and seems like Evan and team have  the right combination.  The WebSite states that the "DarkSend" feature will be in RC1 testing on MainNet and the Wiki says  http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/(RC 2 as of May 2014) and will be open-sourced when complete.

I'm all for this technology, and enjoying the ride up, but seems like alot is riding on a feature which has not yet been implemented.

What happens if it is delayed or there is a problem with the implementation?

I'm not sure that is true.  Does that make me a troll?  Of course it does!  As long as the price of DRK is generally going up nothing negative can be said about the coin without people freaking out.  Also I think DRK is overdue for a correction so I'm spreading FUD too.

I also forgot to add that I'm just mad that I didn't get in earlier which is why I'm spreading this FUD.  Makes perfect sense.

I still say, its under valued for the potential it could bring.

VCs would put in something now to give the current project a $100m valuation if they thought their share would be worth a proportion of a $1bn in 3 years time. That's how they work. Invest now, work hard, sell for x times more in 3 to 5 years.

Could darkcoin be worth over $1bn in 3 years time, recognizing that it could fail in that time, but if it does what it set out to do? If yes, then we are under valued at $50m.

DarkSend works perfectly with the current RC (10.8.6) and has done for weeks. It *is* currently in beta though and has a 10DRK transaction limit, which will be lifted very shortly.

In under 48hrs  masternode payments go live, but that's really no big deal for users, just node ops, users wont notice anything. Except maybe further price rises...

WU should be about 1/79th IIRC of your hash with X11, so you're doing fine.

Yes, I was just trying to explain why the price was going up right now.  Demand should easily outpace mining the next 50 years or more.  In fact, because of the variable rewards, it looks like the final number of coins will be more like 19 million rather than 22.  

The price is mainly due to increased interest in the coin, more people are discovering it's quality and ANONYMITY feature, network effects are taking place. The fact that it also has a limited supply is a critical factor.

As interest grows the price will grow.

To think of it another way If there was only one forum troll in the world it would still be worthless, it's scarcity doesn't make it valuable by itself.

If people find DRK more useful for them to USE than e.g. LTC or BTC, then in time DRK's price will be over $75 or $2000 (4mil DRK vs 29mil LTC/13mil BTC) respectively. Network effects will make this happen over time.

Someone pointed out, a few hundred pages back somewhere, that the code base for Darkcoin is not a million miles away from Bitcoin. That means that Darkcoin could, with a bit / a lot of effort, be added to any existing merchant, payment processor, ATM, etc where Bitcoin already exists.

So if Bitcoin becomes mainly about the block chain analysis, and people get the lack of anonymity in Bitcoin, then there is an outside chance that Darkcoin could be bundled in as an alternative for specific outlets, points of purchase and distribution points.

If this rate of interest and popularity continues, Darkcoin could be the obvious choice over any other potential solution that could achieve the same thing. Who knows where this might go (other than to the moon  )

You seem a little defensive there mate. If you want to have a chat about the technical implementation, possible attack vectors etc., go right ahead, that kind of thing is welcomed here. If you want contribute to the rabble about trolls & FUD, well, it's just noise.

Oh, and if a decentralized currency was so easy for governments to shutdown then we would have already seen the end of bitcoin ages ago led by the Chinese.  Given the size of the bitcoin blockcain I wouldn't be surprised if there were more masternodes than BTC full nodes in the near future.

We've done the regulatory thing, its ok. They don't mind.

I've dealt with regulators. They are difficult, but usually play by the rule book. Those that write the rules are the ones you need to be concerned about. In the USA, they are now accepting Bitcoin as political donations.

So the question is regulating block chain currencies vs. non-block chain currencies.

Well, there has never been this distinction before. So the question has been asked and answered by one of the most senior US officials in this space - someone from the Treasury who enforces the bank secrecy act.

The Chinese government only has to say a couple negative things about Bitcoin to crash the price.
