Attention Masternode Owners / Investors!

Real life makes me be relatively offline these days (good because of work, bad because its such a critical time to be semi-offline)

I will be CLOSING my Masternode setup services right when  RC4 rolls out, for about 2, possibly 3 weeks. Why?

 a) I want to cater to all my MN clients, 100% for free!! Meaning, updating all of them to RC4 as quick as possible, to get the Masternode network up and running as smoothly as possible!! So, I will not be taking on new MN setups when we fork.

 b) As soon as that is done, I going on holidays, for the said 2, maybe 3 weeks. Hopefully, by the time I get back, the price to acquire 1000 DRKs will be prohibitive  Grin

So... if you're thinking of setting up a node using my services, do it now! Or hold the DRKs until I get back. Your choice.
Currently, I am free Thursday and Friday morning only, (GMT+1), the weekend, and relatively free next week.

This is basically as last call for action... Being that many are waiting for the end of the month to take advantage of these ridiculous prices to get the 1k, I will accept time-slot reservations!!

Pm me if interested, or refer to this thread for further details.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/yidakees-helpdesk-masternode-setup-services-ghostplayer-on-bitcointalk.1633/

Thank you!

Saturday 1pm (GMT+1) I am booked for a few hours... slots free the rest of the weekend so far...

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Ha is this all you have?  Hardly breaking news or anything of significance.  They already accept 20 other cryptocurrencies.

Come back and post when you find a mainstream merchant of any significance that accepts Darkcoin.  Maybe a merchant like Dell, Overstock, Expedia, NewEgg, tigerdirect, Dish, etc...  Because they take Bitcoin but not Darkcoin.  They also use Coinbase for processing payments.  The likelihood of Coinbase processing payments for a supposedly anonymous altcoin like Darkcoin is nil.

+101

Worth remembering that in its 5 years since its release, plus 2-4 years of development work, Bitcoin was an overnight success.

It was such an overnight success that even those who contributed to it, Adam Back's hash concept, didn't think it had any chance of taking off until several years after it launched.

Having purchased his first bitcoin for $100 in 2013, Adam Back was one of the few invited to mine Bitcoin by Satoshi when difficulty was 1.

I think Satoshi has remained anonymous (how about that for irony) because he instamined Bitcoin, he also only had a bloody windows client at launch. Cheeky bastard.

How can you be sure? He's the only one here with a control reference and he refuses to publish it... An oversight for which I am thankful.

I noticed this gem on the darkcointalk form:

Quote from: fusecavator
The current block data compresses very well, and just for the sake of testing, I ran it through winrar and was able to decrease the size by more than 40%.

This is essentially another win for Masternodes. It's not hard to build compression into your Linux kernel and have your filesystem transparently compress all data. It uses the device mapper just like an encrypted partition. You can even chain them together.

/dev/sda -> /dev/mapper/encrypted -> /dev/mapper/compressed -> /dev/mapper/encryptedwithadifferentcipher -> reiser4

You could even get all ZFS on it...

I wouldn't want to do that on a mobile device... But having masternodes as the incentivized storage node for a total blockchain allows this to be done. Will people ask for a step by step guide on how to do it? Hire others to do it?

No, money hosers do the minimum to get their money hose. I hope people who are having MNs set up for them take it upon themselves to become the more robust thing MNs were meant to be...

That's the kind of porn I approve of around here.
I've repeatedly lodged solicitations for the kind of checkout system I'd want. Also design and SEO. But, nobody has stepped up and I don't want to spam the thread.

I also had an interesting problem with Darksend+

Goes like this:

With BitCoin, a person can send a specific amount of BTC to an address. They can then export the associated private key, cut-and-paste it into their message/order/address in notepad, save it, gpg the .txt, then make a QR Code from the resulting gpg .asc output and print it on paper. They can mail it to me (no return address, or my address as both) and there was never any data stored on a computer other than their own, which better damn well have been encrypted storage media. I receive the paper in the mail, they hold the private key in case it gets lost in the mail or destroyed. No one can steal it because it's encrypted. I de-gpg it, import the key, re-send so that the previous key they hold no longer has coins and they can also tell I've got the money as a result and to expect their order soon. I pull the inventory, mail it, burn everything they sent me. Go ahead, send a subpoena for information I don't have. Subpoenas are not retroactive. Go ahead, check my shared host's database. Guess what's in it? Nada. Try to go over my head or around my security. You can't get that which was never there. Even if they get a warrant to open my mail, big fat encrypted QR code. Check outgoing mail? Which Post Office did I send it from? How do they know which box was sent from me? Thumbs up their asses, thumbs up their asses...

But that breaks with Darksend+. Since the thing re-commits sends in the background to a buttload of random addresses that even the owner isn't sure has what where on it... Sender would send to an address, and while the paper is in the mail, it's getting mixed. I receive useless paper as the privkey no longer holds anything.

Most people still use FRNs... They have the derp and can't do what I described above. I took down my GPG key because all I ever got with it were Feds asking questions and making requests that only a moron would fall for... Most people are still too dumb and lazy for it anyway. They want PayPal and Bankster Cards. You couldn't force-feed them a gallon of water if they were dying of thirst in Death Valley. They just plain refuse to stop being slaves... Really de-motivated my interest in the business. I thought I was making a difference, but people crave slavery, too fucking lazy and stupid to do anything else...

Won't be able to use anything but FRNs and BitCoin... DRK won't work. Advantage BTC; the address is what it is, no comms with MNs for scattering required. Mix through exchanges, dedicated mixers, and darknet market wallets in random quantities and intervals. No less secure and anonymous than DRK...

Camo you can still send your coins to cold storage, its only when you readd those coins to a running wallet that they will be anonymized again

Definitivelly zfs, much much easier and covers also stuff like simple mirroring of devices via zpool.
With nowaday prices for storage I dont think disk capacity should be an issue thiugh, definitivelly not for block chain size as it is at the moment, even when you expect 20x bigger size in the future.

Space is cheap, but bandwidth costs too and and speed is always good.

With modern CPU's, compress>send>decompress  is often faster than uncompressed IO.
