I like this water cooled card better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131676

those stock fans on the elcheapo 380x aren't going to cut it, and its slow.

Thanks, but I do not have many options.
I have a choice only between this card and https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/STRIX-R9380X-OC4G-GAMING/
I could not find information about this card in any calculator. Huh

Go for used 280x cards if you really want to mine ETH. Cheap and still good hash for the buck.

Just buy ETH is probably the best answer to what's the best card for mining ETH. Can my new card help secure the Ethereum network and pay for itself in time to still be able to play new games and ROI at the same time is a better question?

I haven't seen the hash rate yet, but the 380 is much slower than both the 380x and the 280x. One of the reasons is a lower mem bandwidth, that matters to eth mining.

Used 7970/280x/290/290x are much better and cheaper options. If you want water cooled you might want to look for a used 295x2, that's a beast.

That's a good point.

If you want a new gaming card you can just buy the one you want and justify it with getting a bit back by eth mining.

Wut??!??!?!

C'mon man, 280x/280 is the best value card for mining ETH!!!
Sure the one on your link is faster, but is almost 3x more expensive!
I'm using 280x and they mine just fine, temp are also OK!

is anyone solo mining ethereum?

currently I am mining on a pool with my single 290, churning out 29 mh/s.

playing with the idea of going solo, but not sure if it would work out so wanted to hear from anyone else that is currently soloing and finding blocks ?

I used to solo mining Ethereum when the Ethereum difficulty was low. That was with 150 MH/s. For you that is too low hash rate.

ya i would ask about your gpu also.
i HEARD, (don't quote me)  that requirements are pushing towards TWO GB memory cards
and the 1GB is getting pushed out (unable to allocate full dag)
now, i only heard that , but if you have a 1gb card that may be it ;\
also i heard you can split the dag into chunks?
tbh im not sure how to do that tho, i have a 2gb card (750ti) that has been running about 2 months almost str8 on OC's pool no prob

i have some  280x and 270 i find some gpu can mine as usual, and other cannot mine at all. i think all of them has 2 G memory.
btw they were different brand.

ETH realy needs to cooldown a bit, the more you people attempt to pump it now the worse it will be next week, when BTC hits 600+ USD. It is not smart to ignore such BTC upside potential and invest into expensive altcoins now.

BTC will not hit 600 next week or next month.
