Thanks. Yea, I read VIA's info on it. I kinda figured their implementation in their existing chips would be capped by the x86 arch. What I am curious about is if their design methods are known and how usefull it would be if it could be expanded to an entire chip.? I had no idea jgarzik had done a sha256_via implemented into the miner. That is pretty damn nifty. i'll tell you, the hardcore devs, hardware hackers and other brilliant minds around here impress me more every day! Cheers

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA

I still don't believe it, with the original, "Who would price something at a quarter of what the market will bear?"
The answer is either they are scamming, or are business mongoloids.
It's not exactly a clear must-buy even at the current price they're offering it for, though - buying new mining hardware has been hard to justify for a while. If they sold it at a hefty premium to the cost of GPUs then I'm not convinced they'd get that many takers, and if this is genuine then they pretty much need all the volume they can get in order to push their component prices down to non-absurd levels.

Everyone knows that ASICs and FPGAs are coming and are going to change the game. These guys are the first ones out the door with a nice clean package (not to detract from the other projects, but they all look like experiments in progress). It is a must buy at that price. 20 - yes, twenty - 10+10 - 5+5+5+5 watts. That beats the hell out of the 670w that I am drawing from the wall for the same speed. You do understand that electricity is the prohibitive cost in mining, right?

As real as this seems I would not see anyone doing this simply because there is not much $$$ to be made from this. Even at 100 orders of $ they can only raise about $50 000 which surely would not be enough to pay all the manufacturing and employees etc.

I will give 100 US dollar bounty paid in the currant rate of bitcoin to get this scammer, I mean engineer, on tape selling his product. I already have 53 people on tape entering this building and odds are this guy is one of seven.
I will pay out 50$ in bitcoin just to get a confirmation on his ID.
I will pay 250$ in bitcoin if anyone can lead to this guys arrest and if he gets more than 10 days in jail.
If he does a year or more (in jail) I will pay the electricity of an 5970 for a year and the guy who gets him will get all the bitcoin output.
Also, I am still waiting for the penis enlargement pills I ordered/ Offer to video tape your presentation and upload it at my cost!!!
Not saying it isn't a scam, but how much crow do you promise to eat if it turns out to be true? I think an appropriate amount would be 10 units at full price.

This thread is getting ridiculous. Bottom line is that the claims are bold, but not impossible, and it doesnt look like a simple scam, though until proven otherwise, its clear the claims may be... optimistic.
As for the price being too low; without knowing their fixed and variable costs, or their capacity, you cant conclude anything from it. Its not because "the market would bare more", that their pricing is per se nonsensical; their business plan may require volumes they wouldnt reach at the maximum price "the market would bare". In fact, such an approach makes perfect sense, if you would invest a non trivial amount in such a product, knowing that a competitor with a better product might make your product almost unsellable in 12 or 6 months or less. You would want to sell as much as you can, rather than sell for as much as you can.
So why doesnt everyone just take a deep breath and wait to see what happens.

You really don't have anything better to do with your time and money than film people going into a mixed-zoning building? Goddamn, son, start doing something productive with your time.
