Edric -

Getting into business has been a few months of research and planning, and lots of frustrating issues. I won't bore with details, but we have a business license coming this week, and we're waiting to hear from the landlord on our storefront. I'm just the investor really, but I'm helping my friend with a lot of it. It's a completely new experience, and it's quite the learning curve. My wife is due with our first child only a few days before we plan on opening in July, so I have a busy few months ahead of me. If anyone is south of Seattle ever, please let me know, and the beer is on me!

I appreciate you opening up and letting us get to know you. I'm glad you have chosen to not quit life. I was near that point at one time. My mother tried to end her life a few times, and was thankfully unsuccessful. We're happy you're here with us! Keep your head up, and keep working hard. We've all been through some tough setbacks, and you can persevere.

I have a few computer parts I'd like to send you as a gift to give you a little boost. I have 3 7950's, one which has a dead fan that should easily be replaced. They conservatively hash about 630 khash each. Send me a PM with your address, and they're yours free and clear. Do with them what you'd like.

Cheers  Smiley

Hey congrats on the baby! The first kid is always the scariest, but I'm gonna tell you a little secret about being a daddy... Find a magic solution to keep them a baby forever, they're easier to deal with and cuter that way. I have kids myself, my boys are 11 and 12. The long term goal is to get a place of my own again because they want to live with me. They love their mom but dad's cooler (and hacker dad gets free video games, lol). When my oldest was a baby, I'd lay him on my chest and play Tony Hawk Pro Skater all night long! Fun times.

It's kinda hard to tell some details about my life, I think the main reason is I like to maintain a somewhat professional appearance, if that's possible for me, lol. I'm just an ordinary guy, involved in some extraordinary stuff! These last few years have been a rollercoaster of nonstop crap, all starting when I met my latest atrocity of an ex. I had it made, more or less, had my own place, manager of a restaurant, my kids living with me, everyone had their own gaming rig, I had lots of mining gear and a sweet home theater with the whole Nvidia 3D vision package.. I jumped on Bitcoin like a madman the first time I saw it, when it was still possible to solomine. I had mined a great deal and the plan was to hang on to it all, but of course it got sold (50c-$1-ish). The ex and her problems ruined everything and I just kinda let it happen. But I guess it's happened for a reason, because I wouldn't be writing this right now and wouldn't be on this adventure we're all having together.

I really appreciate the offer of those GPUs, you have no idea how much that'd help me right now.. My system is in terrible shape, one of the last arguments the ex and I were in, after I left to cool off, she used my pc for soccer practice, and it's still in the exact same shape since that day. The big Zalman heatsink is crushed on one side, the case is deformed and duct taped. I had 2 radeon 4350's in there, one was totaled, the other one is still hanging on (10k/h lol). Gotta replace that heatsink soon, it runs too warm for comfort. I ordered one off Amazon but it just couldn't keep up with the Phenom II. It's got a 750w PSU and dual PCIE slots so shouldn't have trouble with the GPU's, though I may need to hunt down some power cables at the flea market.

Good luck with the beer business. One of god's greatest gifts and a destroyer of men in one bottle, I prefer the former though. Will you be dealing with microbrew/local beers?

Also I was reading what frameLAlife was talking about earlier, the bitcoin consultant thing. That sounds interesting and I may actually try something like that where I live. Definitely need more people to adopt cryptocoins. Could possibly talk some local businesses into adopting 888, who knows? From time to time I post stuff on Facebook then get messages asking what cryptocoins are. I used to run ads on Craigslist all the time advertising computer and electronics repair, but seems like everyone is apparently a technician these days so there's many such ads, all the way down to $10 for a complete system overhaul, new pirated copy of windows, maybe even a keylogger! Protip: don't be like my sister and leave naughty stuff on your computer for the techs to see, lol.

Anyway, I think I'm about to hit it for the night.. My computer isn't cooperating, think one of the drives is about to eat it, and I'm not in the mood to move my VMs around tonight. Been nonstop compiling stuff for people, graphical changes here, removing coingen crap there, doing my best to help people out. If anyone needs anything from me, just let me know, I'll do whatever I can to help. I'll send you a pm in a sec shellbunner. Thanks again!

Good night guys!

Yea, Edric is a good man for sure. I dig Fusionhash as well, even though they aren't responding to me about my missing 85000 888! Wink

Spoke with FusionHash today - they have a new server ready for the release of the updated 888 client (the source, at the very least, should be released this evening). They will point their stratum servers at the new client which will have a fresh copy of the blockchain and all stuck transactions will either be processed or dropped depending on age. Either way, it should resolve all issues with "stuck" transactions. You can point the finger at us since we didn't anticipate the large size of some of these transactions - obviously, there is a ton of data contained within some of them.

Hopefully we will at least have the updated Windows wallets out this evening as well. Old wallets will remain compatible, but obviously we'll want to get everybody updated ASAP as it will lower transaction fees as well. It will also include updated checkpoints and several tweaks.

Octocoin... I am intrigued... what's the significance of the the numbers in your signature?

I noticed their signature also, and the 3 groups of numbers add up to 8 8 8.

I've barely been able to access the forum all day today. Anyone having similar issues?

I'm excited to see the new wallet, when it's ready I'm going to go ahead and switch the pool over to it, downtime should be no more than 2-3 minutes. I'll post an announcement about an hour before the switch takes place to try and minimize any problems for miners.

I was talking earlier with a friend of my sister's, he's some kind of business advisor and he's working with an owner of some kind of martial arts/MMA school. We were discussing the possibility of the school adopting 888 as a payment method and possibly mining it as well. We'll be talking more in the near future, hopefully when I'm a little more well rested and throw some ideas around. I'm starting to feel like there's opportunities around every corner, learning to recognize them and go with it is what I'm working on. Today I feel like I've been hit by a train, I can barely think straight let alone be productive.

Source has been updated and Windows wallet is now up for download:

https://octocoin.org

Updated OS X wallet will release within 48 hours. This should correct the occasional transaction issues. Just to be clear, this is not an issue that was exclusive to OctoCoin so, while a handful of our modifications were inexplicably rejected from Bitcoin Core, we included them in this version as we're confident they solve a number of minor issues. We also borrowed some relevant changes from the latest Litecoin source addressing transaction issues.

While this update will not result in a fork, it is extensive enough that we definitely suggest upgrading ASAP. There will be another (likely optional) release soon containing some of the "bells and whistles" we have been working on; this particular release simply addresses the core.

If, after 24 hours of updating, the handful of people dealing with old unconfirmed transactions are still seeing said transactions "stuck", please send us a PM with the details (txid, addresses, pool/exchange/etc) and one of our guys will comb through all of them this week to ensure they are resolved.

Thank you for your patience - will be back within 12 hours.

Awesome! Around 11PM CST tonight, the pool will go off briefly to swap out the wallet application. It'll only take about 2 minutes or so.

Sometime around or after the 1st I'm moving to another neighborhood along with my sister, and I'm not sure about how quick it'll be getting our internet service moved and running. In case I don't have internet I'll need to give someone my phone number to send me a text in case of pool problems so I can get it fixed. Shouldn't be a problem, though. I have a long range wifi antenna as a backup :b

Yes, I have a similar issue 4 missing payments, all with missing TX id's

It's a weird thing and I haven't figured what the problem is but a few coins do that.. One of them is a big problem for me because my pool has many, many thousands of payouts and no TXID's, and the wallet has problems with big transactions.. Not Octocoin, though, haven't figured out what it's limit is. I understand the frustration, though.

Oh, I got distracted last night, then ended up asleep early and completely forgot about the wallet update! I'm about to do that right now, before I forget again. Shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes and I'll have to reset stratum, hopefully your miners will reconnect without problems!

It's changed.. No problems Smiley

About to pull ID's for the giveaway now too.. So absent minded lately, sorry guys Sad

We're in the process of moving and it's been pretty crazy. We're basically getting evicted from here because one of the kids tore a bunch of bricks out of a wall, so then we get blamed for everything else that's broken around here, when there's 1000 unsupervised kids running around wreaking havoc, but we're singled out because, and I really hate to say it, but we're the only white family here. I'll be glad to be out of this neighborhood, though. The other night when I was typing up that long post, there was a huge fight outside, some guy beating a woman in front of her kids over a $100 bill. We called the police but when they got here they were more interested in trying to get permission to search our apartment. Texas...

I used to live somewhere like that. We finally bailed after I was sitting on the couch one day catching a buzz, and I looked out on my porch and some dude was looking in the window and trying to get in my door thinking nobody was home.I opened the door and stuck my 45 in his faced and asked him how can I fuckin help you!? And then a few days later I come home from work and my front yard is surrounded by cops with the guy that used to live in the basement apartment down and in cuffs, we found out later he was on america's most wanted and wanted for murder in New jersey. The lady upstairs had these 3 big dudes that beat the shit out of her daily, after we moved out, one of them shot the other and one of the bullets went through our old apartment and hit some lady in the leg. People are crazy man. Get the hell out of there.

Ehrmagerd.... Yeah, we have plenty of crazy people around here.. Meth and crack are epidemic, lol.. We live in a part of town called the "4-way" which is really not a good place if you're not dark skinned XD

Luckily we're moving to a pretty nice neighborhood in very soon. Can't wait. Not like I go outside much anyway, though.. lol

Guys, bear with me, the pool is giving me issues, since I updated the wallet and MPOS.. Sent out the giveaway, 1444 to 2 winners, pabad812 and z1011k, but I think my liquid assets were lying to me about my available balance, because after sending that out, I should have had 10k-ish left over, but I'm in the negative now and it's causing issues with the cronjobs. The new wallet and MPOS get along a bit differently it seems so I'll be making whatever tweaks and fixes necessary to keep things going. I guess its my fault getting excited because I (thought) I had 10k 888's left over to play with Sad

We are currently working with FusionHash to determine why certain addresses are causing the RPC method to spit back 500 errors (which pauses the payout cronjob). edric - I would suggest pausing payouts temporarily until we get to the bottom of it. Forcing the payout script to run seems to be resulting in multiple payouts being processed. I have also contacted one of the lead MPOS devs to help expedite the resolution.

Just so everybody is aware, the next version of the wallet will be built on top of the latest bitcoin source which brings a number of tools and enhancements to transactions. Combined with our enhancements, it should result in the most complete, secure client out there. In the meantime, we will ensure that we have everything running smooth ASAP on the current version which we, admittedly, rushed slightly due to growing demand from the community. The pools all appear to be running fine - it's just occasional payout issues and, when that occurs, MPOS stops the payout cron automatically until manually reviewed.

Keep on mining and we'll keep you posted as things progress. If you are having issues with any pools, please contact them as they have access to the databases/logs/etc and we don't. I anticipate a swift resolution and, other than some potentially delayed payouts, nobody beyond the pools operators should be affected.
