Yea, Edric is a good man for sure. I dig Fusionhash as well, even though they aren't responding to me about my missing 85000 888! Wink

Spoke with FusionHash today - they have a new server ready for the release of the updated 888 client (the source, at the very least, should be released this evening). They will point their stratum servers at the new client which will have a fresh copy of the blockchain and all stuck transactions will either be processed or dropped depending on age. Either way, it should resolve all issues with "stuck" transactions. You can point the finger at us since we didn't anticipate the large size of some of these transactions - obviously, there is a ton of data contained within some of them.

Hopefully we will at least have the updated Windows wallets out this evening as well. Old wallets will remain compatible, but obviously we'll want to get everybody updated ASAP as it will lower transaction fees as well. It will also include updated checkpoints and several tweaks.

Excellent! Thanks for the update and continued hard work.

It's shellbunner, mining da sh*t out of Octo  Grin
128,493 khs. Nice man!  Smiley

I think shellbunner has some deep pockets because I remember when he was basically mining Megacoin by himself way back when the blocks were like 125 MEC each (right around the time I started mining MEC). I remember times when him and I made up almost the entire mining network. I have to assume he unloaded a few when they were worth $2.00+ each haha. I sold most of mine way too early but still did pretty well.

Ah okay, seems like he's a smart guy. Seeing the potential of a coin before everybody else does brings the biggest profits.
And big profits will also come to the early adopters of Octo.
If you see how much coins we got all the days, and how much there are now... and its only 0,5 Ghs. Plus the Bonusblocks.
If this coin get's more famous and more will mine it we will soon, 100%, see 0,25$.
And if the devs do what they are talking about there will be 1$ faster as we think.
But you all deserve it!  Wink

I feel like a celebrity with you guys all saying my name Cheesy
I killed one of my little miners last night, so I decided to rent some from betarigs.com and I got carried away  Tongue
I was going to mine Whitecoin or some other profitable coin, but 888 just feels right.
Sorry about forcing the difficulty up so high. Wasn't my intention to screw everyone else.
Megaman- If I had sold at the right time, I would have made a KILLING! Like 7 digit killing. But I held forever, and my intention was to use it as a currency and not just flip for profit. I made decent money, and I used a chunk to purchase stuff for my child on the way, and to start a business with a friend. Megacoin has been good to me.

Anyways, enough rambling. I won't be renting anymore rigs anytime soon. I have one 45MH rig rented for another 60 hours at Edric's pool, and that's it.

Go 888!!!!

Haha, I was pretty astounded when I saw the pool at 150MH, even moreso when I saw you were doing most of it! Difficulty going up may be bad for the smaller miners, but in the long run will help out the price. I haven't looked into renting mining rigs, but I'd definitely be interested in it if I could afford to. I'd be in good shape for sure if my ex wife hadn't "helped" me get rid of my mining rigs. Still, I see that hashrate and it gets me excited in ways only a nerd could appreciate, lol

It's been a while since I unloaded a wall of text and my thoughts so if you don't want to hear about someone else's crappy life, you better stop reading here :b

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out some ways to turn a profit, without putting anyone in a bad spot, of course. Right now I'm only running a few pools, and most are either completely dead or a coin that nobody wants (or both), but Octocoin is doing a good job at staying alive and, so far, keeping loyal fans. Every time I have to sell what bits of 888 I do have, I kick myself, because I know I'm probably throwing money away, but don't have much of a choice if I want to survive. Around here it's rough job-wise. If you don't have impeccable credentials and a college degree you have the choice to either work on an oil rig (which I would be doing if I could) or work a dead-end job that barely puts a dent in the necessary expenses. I've made a lot of dumb decisions when I was younger, so any kind of "professional" type job is out the window for me. I don't know why I'm telling you guys all this, I guess I just want ya'll to know who I am, kinda feels like family, lol. Anyway, on Christmas day, without going into much detail, some serious shit went down, so with nothing but my computer and some of my clothes, I'm starting over. I had to leave my job behind as well (and nothing of value was lost). So with plenty of time on my hands, in a spare bedroom at my sister's place, I've found a renewed interest in programming and cryptocoins. The funny thing is, I got into it with dollar signs in my head, and though the money has been elusive so far, in a short amount of time I've reaped huge rewards in other ways. I've always had a talent for computers so it's about time I actually DO something with it, and to that end I spend usually more than 12 hours a day at my computer, working on stuff. The way you guys have treated me thus far has been very inspirational and has definitely changed my attitude in a lot of ways. I'm starting to feel like I have a purpose again, without divulging too much let me just say I was close to rage quitting life. Eventually, I'm sure the profits will come. For some reason, I feel bad even mentioning money, even though that's what we're dealing with. In fact I hate even charging a fee to mine my pools, but for now it's a necessity. With the price of 888 right now, the fees I collect don't really amount to much, and I'm trying to get things to a point where I don't have to touch my coins at all and just save up, but it's been setback on top of setback so I keep having to sell here and there for food, or a part for my computer, it's always something. I'd like to thank everyone for sticking with my pool and showing your support, without your help the pool would have been shut down for a while, which would probably have been an effective death blow. I've got next month's fees covered, I did a Freelancer.com job, which I'm not sure if I'm going to get the rest of what I'm owed on the job, but did get a milestone payment on it, there's a 15 day hold but it'll be here just in time. I'm sure some of you are thinking "Why don't you get a real job?".. Good question, I ask myself the same thing. I was actually in the pizza business from '98-2012 and that's about all I'm "qualified" to do. I've wasted a lot of my life acting stupid and working dead end jobs and I want to do something on my own terms where there's no limits except for the ones I impose on myself. That and I refuse to be yelled at ever again for there not being enough cheese on your cheese pizza. I may be flat broke now but when payday comes I will be smiling all the way to the bank, because I don't have to punch a clock, ask for smoke breaks, step on anyone, or kiss butts. Ok, maybe a little butt kissing, but I do it because I want to, not because I have to :b  Pride is something I've been sorely lacking in life, but I'm finding plenty of it now in the trust and support that the community has shown me. That and the occasional email telling me I'm wasting my time and my life. Oh well.

I still don't have a clue what the devs are planning for Octo, but they're not the only ones with grand plans. I have a hundred different ideas and projects in varying stages, some coming in the near future. I've been wanting to provide games for everyone to enjoy, and seeing the success of some of the dice games out there I can imagine the profits some of the operators are enjoying are quite good. It makes me feel kinda guilty to think in those terms, but everyone needs money. I've also been throwing ideas around to myself about setting up some heavier services, putting on the big boy panties and setting up my own exchange of sorts, something a bit different from most normal exchanges, though, and possibly a store of some kind. Something I'll have to consider carefully, though, because aside from the amount of effort, I'm still learning finer points of programming and security, and the world of financial services isn't a playground, it can make or ruin people, or even land you in a cell with Bubba. Still, I'm capable of doing whatever I set my mind to, and I want to give something to the community and be able to mutually profit, together. How about an Octocoin exclusive escort service? No, on second thought, buying hookers and blow with 888 may not be very good for our reputations. Or our health.

Ok, there's my wall of text for the week. I don't really have anyone to talk to so this is what happens when I bottle it up. That and too much coffee. I sit in this room alone so much I'm probably crazy by now, but that's ok. Also, I know I have been neglecting the weekly giveaway, I get so wrapped up in everything. I'm doing 2 giveaways tonight, so stay tuned! Oh, and looks like a lot of posts were made while writing this (couple hours on and off), lol

Go 888!!!!

Sweet the first 888 celeb!

I love Megacoin and Anoncoin also... I think that's why I like Fusionhash so much.... every coin they have out I've mined there and never really had any issues with that pool.

Nonetheless, props for supporting Edric's pool. He's a good dude. When I get more hash I'm sending it his way also.

I hope we all see huge profit from 888! I need some of that start my own biz money!!

Speaking of, does anyone here have businesses around bitcoin? I'm thinking of getting an LLC and just offering bitcoin consulting with basic services around training and implementing bitcoin for personal and business purposes. Nobody does it here where I live. I think if I can get things rolling maybe I'll see bitcoin grow in my community. As difficult and scary as bitcoin is to some people and businesses I think consultants could do well training people on setting up wallets, transactions, the blockchain, exchanges, mining, accepting bitcoin as a merchant, etc... Seems like an opportunity.

Thoughts anyone? Experience with this?

Yea, Edric is a good man for sure. I dig Fusionhash as well, even though they aren't responding to me about my missing 85000 888! Wink

My business which isn't related to Crypto at all (it has to do with beer) (if it ever gets off the ground in a few months) would most likely accept Bitcoin if I can convince my business partner. If Octo is around still (which I have no doubt it will be), we'll gladly take that too.  Smiley

As far as your business plan, I personally think it's a niche that needs to be filled. Bitcoin and Octo and every other crypto is intimidating to the average Joe, and with a consultant like yourself, you could help the communities and services/businesses to grow. Starting a business is insanely overwhelming, and we are still at least 2-3 months from opening our shop. 2 steps forward, and 1 step back seems to be how it goes for me.

Anyways, Good luck my friend! May we all prosper!

The beer business sounds good Smiley

I would have kept you in business a few years back, now I can barely drink 3-4, get sleepy, and feel awful the next day. I was not kind to my liver for a while there, now it retaliates.

Good luck with opening your shop. The overwhelming part of business, for me, is all the red tape and "official" stuff. I consider myself in business, I suppose, but I have no corporation, business license or storefront, just my PC, some servers, and some online bank accounts. Probably not the best way to operate, and if I 'go big' I'm going to make it official, until then just saving transaction records and make sure the IRS gets their cut XD

What all do you have to go through to get yourself officially in business, like in your own store?

Edric -

Getting into business has been a few months of research and planning, and lots of frustrating issues. I won't bore with details, but we have a business license coming this week, and we're waiting to hear from the landlord on our storefront. I'm just the investor really, but I'm helping my friend with a lot of it. It's a completely new experience, and it's quite the learning curve. My wife is due with our first child only a few days before we plan on opening in July, so I have a busy few months ahead of me. If anyone is south of Seattle ever, please let me know, and the beer is on me!

I appreciate you opening up and letting us get to know you. I'm glad you have chosen to not quit life. I was near that point at one time. My mother tried to end her life a few times, and was thankfully unsuccessful. We're happy you're here with us! Keep your head up, and keep working hard. We've all been through some tough setbacks, and you can persevere.

I have a few computer parts I'd like to send you as a gift to give you a little boost. I have 3 7950's, one which has a dead fan that should easily be replaced. They conservatively hash about 630 khash each. Send me a PM with your address, and they're yours free and clear. Do with them what you'd like.

Cheers  Smiley

The interviews hosted by the Central Bank of the Law Secretary Muhuai Peng , participants include the central bank to pay Secretary Li Yue , and many other central bankers , specifications unprecedented high.

Central Bank sources said that this is mainly for interviews after April 15 Bitcoin prices rebounded sharply , the account does not reach the intended purpose of cleaning up the embarrassment .

Central Bank in March issued "on further prevent the risk of bitcoin notice" , stressed banks and third-party payment institutions may not serve Bitcoin transactions cleared in the current account deadline April 15 . However , on April 15 , the majority of Bitcoin trading platform is still functioning , Bitcoin prices also soared from 2,500 yuan to 3,000 yuan.

Criticized someone's body

Mu Huaipeng Secretary reiterated the five ministries " on guard against the risk of Bitcoin notice" and "to further prevent the risk of bitcoin notice" on the financial institutions and payment institutions shall not provide , directly or indirectly related to bitcoin services policy requirements.

After "further guard against the risk of bitcoin notice" issued , including fire currency network , OKCoin including trading platforms have " another way" to launch " recharge code" recharge mode , bypassing financial institutions , and other forms of online sales through trafficking cards, recharge after use on the platform.

Recharge codes need to be purchased from the agent . Fire currency net and BTCChina also taken a prepaid recharge code distributed manner .

Hmm, everything looks good from here Smiley

The pool has been pretty busy lately, if we keep the hashrate up I'm probably going to re-add another stratum and bump up the RAM some. Every now and then the web portal gets a bit sluggish, but I try to keep a close eye on things.

Hey congrats on the baby! The first kid is always the scariest, but I'm gonna tell you a little secret about being a daddy... Find a magic solution to keep them a baby forever, they're easier to deal with and cuter that way. I have kids myself, my boys are 11 and 12. The long term goal is to get a place of my own again because they want to live with me. They love their mom but dad's cooler (and hacker dad gets free video games, lol). When my oldest was a baby, I'd lay him on my chest and play Tony Hawk Pro Skater all night long! Fun times.

It's kinda hard to tell some details about my life, I think the main reason is I like to maintain a somewhat professional appearance, if that's possible for me, lol. I'm just an ordinary guy, involved in some extraordinary stuff! These last few years have been a rollercoaster of nonstop crap, all starting when I met my latest atrocity of an ex. I had it made, more or less, had my own place, manager of a restaurant, my kids living with me, everyone had their own gaming rig, I had lots of mining gear and a sweet home theater with the whole Nvidia 3D vision package.. I jumped on Bitcoin like a madman the first time I saw it, when it was still possible to solomine. I had mined a great deal and the plan was to hang on to it all, but of course it got sold (50c-$1-ish). The ex and her problems ruined everything and I just kinda let it happen. But I guess it's happened for a reason, because I wouldn't be writing this right now and wouldn't be on this adventure we're all having together.

I really appreciate the offer of those GPUs, you have no idea how much that'd help me right now.. My system is in terrible shape, one of the last arguments the ex and I were in, after I left to cool off, she used my pc for soccer practice, and it's still in the exact same shape since that day. The big Zalman heatsink is crushed on one side, the case is deformed and duct taped. I had 2 radeon 4350's in there, one was totaled, the other one is still hanging on (10k/h lol). Gotta replace that heatsink soon, it runs too warm for comfort. I ordered one off Amazon but it just couldn't keep up with the Phenom II. It's got a 750w PSU and dual PCIE slots so shouldn't have trouble with the GPU's, though I may need to hunt down some power cables at the flea market.

Good luck with the beer business. One of god's greatest gifts and a destroyer of men in one bottle, I prefer the former though. Will you be dealing with microbrew/local beers?

Also I was reading what frameLAlife was talking about earlier, the bitcoin consultant thing. That sounds interesting and I may actually try something like that where I live. Definitely need more people to adopt cryptocoins. Could possibly talk some local businesses into adopting 888, who knows? From time to time I post stuff on Facebook then get messages asking what cryptocoins are. I used to run ads on Craigslist all the time advertising computer and electronics repair, but seems like everyone is apparently a technician these days so there's many such ads, all the way down to $10 for a complete system overhaul, new pirated copy of windows, maybe even a keylogger! Protip: don't be like my sister and leave naughty stuff on your computer for the techs to see, lol.

Anyway, I think I'm about to hit it for the night.. My computer isn't cooperating, think one of the drives is about to eat it, and I'm not in the mood to move my VMs around tonight. Been nonstop compiling stuff for people, graphical changes here, removing coingen crap there, doing my best to help people out. If anyone needs anything from me, just let me know, I'll do whatever I can to help. I'll send you a pm in a sec shellbunner. Thanks again!

Good night guys!

Octocoin... I am intrigued... what's the significance of the the numbers in your signature?

I noticed their signature also, and the 3 groups of numbers add up to 8 8 8.

I've barely been able to access the forum all day today. Anyone having similar issues?

I'm excited to see the new wallet, when it's ready I'm going to go ahead and switch the pool over to it, downtime should be no more than 2-3 minutes. I'll post an announcement about an hour before the switch takes place to try and minimize any problems for miners.

I was talking earlier with a friend of my sister's, he's some kind of business advisor and he's working with an owner of some kind of martial arts/MMA school. We were discussing the possibility of the school adopting 888 as a payment method and possibly mining it as well. We'll be talking more in the near future, hopefully when I'm a little more well rested and throw some ideas around. I'm starting to feel like there's opportunities around every corner, learning to recognize them and go with it is what I'm working on. Today I feel like I've been hit by a train, I can barely think straight let alone be productive.

Source has been updated and Windows wallet is now up for download:

https://octocoin.org

Updated OS X wallet will release within 48 hours. This should correct the occasional transaction issues. Just to be clear, this is not an issue that was exclusive to OctoCoin so, while a handful of our modifications were inexplicably rejected from Bitcoin Core, we included them in this version as we're confident they solve a number of minor issues. We also borrowed some relevant changes from the latest Litecoin source addressing transaction issues.

While this update will not result in a fork, it is extensive enough that we definitely suggest upgrading ASAP. There will be another (likely optional) release soon containing some of the "bells and whistles" we have been working on; this particular release simply addresses the core.

If, after 24 hours of updating, the handful of people dealing with old unconfirmed transactions are still seeing said transactions "stuck", please send us a PM with the details (txid, addresses, pool/exchange/etc) and one of our guys will comb through all of them this week to ensure they are resolved.

Thank you for your patience - will be back within 12 hours.
