Hey folks =)

I made a video about the NewPac beauty (Intro / Hardware Requirements / Software Setup / Profitability) and a bit of general talk and comparison. Still, I always try to keep my videos short not to waste anyone's time.
Here is the link: https://youtu.be/6BxCiO-hur4

Already featured the 2Pacs in the past. Was too late for the Compac version (my last USB miners before Gekkoscience were Block Erupters  Grin)

Cheers and thanks to all the folks involved in Gekkoscience for building truly genious devices!!

Hi all,

This evening my two newpac did start producing errors/messages like this:

Code:
[2019-03-27 20:49:54.420] Rejected 22c11265 Diff 1.89K/272 GSH 0  (Invalid extraNonce2 value)
[2019-03-27 20:49:54.980] Rejected 473ecbc0 Diff 920/272 GSH 0  (Invalid extraNonce2 value)

Did some searching with google, but aint got a clue whats happening.
Some know whats happening here? HW errors are minimal, so thats not a problem.
The errors did occur after i did stop them mining, due to some lets say maintenance for the fans.

stopping: First i stopped the miners, then after 5 mins i stopped the fan.
Starting: run the fan 1st for a min, then started the miners.

BTW do not get em all the time, they appear now an then. Never had em b4

Regards
Pi0Miner

Did you power cycle the sticks?  Even when they're not doing stuff, the circuit's actually still doing stuff, it just draws like 1.5watts.  I've found with these and the 2Pac, at a certain point when it zombie out or does weird stuff, you need to power cycle it.

I do these in order:
- uhubctl power cycling the entire hub where USB hub support software power cycling (I can be lazy and do this through software, usually work)
- pushing the button if USB hub has them (now I have to get up)
- physically removing and then reinstalling the stick (now I have to get up and do physical labor beyond pushing a button, grrrr)

The chips need to be completely power cycled to fully reset.  Unless you pulled the power cord and USB uplink cable on your hub or something, a lot of errors can persist through CGMiner or computer restarts.

yes, that must be it. This time i let them on while doing the maintenance. Normally i turn them completely off.
Due to your remark i did realise the difference with other times.
Thx. i'll try right away.

edit: forgot to tell this was the solution, THX!

sorry if this seems dumb.....ebay says newpac comes with DUAL bm1387, does that mean there's two chips per newpac or does that mean you get two newpacs per purchase?

To further clarify what sidehack said, one NewPac stick has two (dual) BM1387 ASIC chips. The 2PAC featured two (dual) BM1384 ASIC chips per one stick. Hope that helps!

Hi team

just got my new newpac and im getting an "unheathly miner" error on slushpool once it connects to a node.
any support would be great.  its plugged into a 2.0 slot with a powered USB hub

Everything else seems to run fine, get a ton of missing nonces until it finds one

So finally had some odd moments of spare time over the past month to do my little project of a new top plate for the hub. Now this is only an experiment and some things went wrong so will be making another one that will be a bit/a lot more refined   Grin
Anyway Ive attached a picture and incase you were wondering all the text is etched first then infilled (although poorly with some acrylic wash).

looks like i figured out the "missing nonces" and the "unhealthy miner" errors i was getting, i got my stick from Amazon.

missing nonces is probably your share is not fast enough for your pool, so getting a fan and speeding up might fix it?

unheathly miner i am guessing is that your chip is too hot?   I just upgraded my cgminer to the newest one from Dec 2018 - the one linked in then PDF that came with the chip is an older version.

i used this code to get it started:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.slushpool.com:3333 -u  xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxxx -p x --gekko-newpac-freq 100 --suggest-diff 512 --balance

after a couple of days messing with it, and reading through this fourm, make sure you have the most up to date cgminer, a fan, a powered usb, and you set your start code correctly.

That is quite impressive and looks GREAT! If only it could somehow add to the performance. Anyway, that plate does look very nice!!  Wink

It would be good if it added to the heat dissipation in some way, but it is purely for aesthetics and gives me something to do lol.

Looks good, maybe invert the logo etchings if you make another and you've nailed aesthetics 100% imo.

Hey guys,

I am having some difficulty with the newpacs and hope someone can shed some light. Currently, I am running 6 newpacs off of a BrovSS USB hub with active cooling. All of the sticks are connected to this hub. The frequency they are running off of is 100 Mhz each. The version of cgminer is the gekkoscience cgminer 4.1 and using on Windows 10. I have been able to mine a couple blocks but eventually cgminer displays a “GSH 3 missing nonces” and “GSH 4 missing nonces” and then displays “Toggling reset on GSH 3” amd “Toggling reset on GSH” and my worker goes offline and have to reboot everything each time. Again, I appreciate any help someone can offer.

Have you tried other hubs or USB ports? Looks like a lot of different information on the amperage per port for the one you listed. Only 1.2a with multiple ports running.

It's difficult to find ANY USB hub that allows more than 1 or 2 Amps per port.
The stick miners can use more than that ...

That's why this exists:

Do you think i can still use a few less sticks for now until it comes in? I also have an amazon basics hub but it is REALLY simple.
