Well, as you said - women's team matches are not competitive I do not even keep a track of women cricket tournaments unless it is a world cup. I am surprised to see a few members watch the match between ENG and IND and loved it. I will try and see whether I can find the highlights of this match on the internet. If someone knows then do reply to me with the link.

From the posts here, I can see that other users are also having the same opinion as mine. The women's ODI matches are very boring. But I have watched a few WBBL matches (women's equivalent of the Big Bash League in Australia), and they looked interesting to me. Franchise T20 leagues can bring big change to the women's game. The BCCI has ignored repeated requests for WIPL, but other boards such as the ECB and CA have gone ahead with such leagues. And this has resulted in a huge improvement in quality of the game in these countries.

Openers Smriti Mandhana and new kid Shefali Verma are quite good tho. Also their last and only test against England was very competitive and fun to watch specially Shefali Verma played very beautifully. In ODI too both openers are doing their job but Number 3 is becoming Achilles heel for the team, followed by middle order collapse every single time.

In the end they managed to survive the 4th day. The England bowlers (Katherine Brunt, Anya Shrubsole and Sophie Ecclestone) were so lethal in the first innings, but completely failed to pick up crucial wickets in the second innings. By the time Mandhana fell, India was in a comfortable position.

As I have posted earlier, the women's game is not a priority for BCCI. Both the ECB and CA has setup franchise T20 leagues for women players. But the BCCI has refused to organize the WIPL (although indications are that the BCCI would suffer no additional expense if they do so). And despite India being the no.1 ranked team in men's cricket, their women's team have even failed to secure automatic qualification for the women's world cup. Even during the last world cup, they had to play the qualifier tournament to gain entry.

Not the record you would want to break but Sri Lankans did it anyway and dethroned the Indians. Subcontinent teams are leading the tally lol. Poms and Kiwis are doing okay, although they played less games. Australians team is winner with their high percentage of wins.

Even Zimbabwe is pretty down the list. If they are given more opportunities to play then they might come up. You can expect ENG, NZ and AUS  to be at the bottom considering they dominated the cricket world till the end of 90s.

It is hard to predict how Pakistan would play, even though England had a dominating series against Sri Lanka but there were times when they lost wickets at quick interval and since the total was small they were able to chase them easily, if Pakistan is able to bat well and put pressure on the England batsman i would like to see how they will perform.

Agree with you, but winning ratio can't be a perfect solution as well. Because team conditions change in time to time. Look at the current condition of Sri Lankan cricket team. They are struggling to show a good performance with their squad. But they was one of the top cricket team few years ago. Sri Lanka was runners-up in 2007 & 2011 ODI world cup, also in 2009 & 2012 T20 world cup and champion of 2014 T20 world cup. But all those glorious performance of Sri Lankan team has faded now. We should analyse a team base on their current and recent performance. History can't determine that how a team will play on next game. BTW, you can check the win/lose ratio of each team here

Agree with you, but winning ratio can't be a perfect solution as well. Because team conditions change in time to time. Look at the current condition of Sri Lankan cricket team. They are struggling to show a good performance with their squad. But they was one of the top cricket team few years ago. Sri Lanka was runners-up in 2007 & 2011 ODI world cup, also in 2009 & 2012 T20 world cup and champion of 2014 T20 world cup. But all those glorious performance of Sri Lankan team has faded now. It could be said about any country, one prime example is Vintage windies team. In the end winning percentage matter most if we are looking at overall history, although i don't agree with it when judging any specific team but its a fact if we look at overall history.  Srilankan team going down the gutter due to their political interference in cricket, corruption and bad management in transition period of legendary players so nothing surprising imo.

India Women need 6 runs in 6 balls, a real opportunity for them to win the match and upset many who waged a bet on England Woman to win the match  . Mithali Raj is still in the crease and she is more than capable of taking the team to victory but wickets are falling in the other end and hopefully India Women wins this one .

Which channel was telecasting the match ?, i did not watch the match but saw an article in cricinfo that Mithali Raj became the highest run scorer in Woman's cricket and she went past that record as the leading run scorer and then she made sure that the team won and none of the news channels picked up the news as far as i know and if it was the Men's team it would be a news headline.

Women's matches have very low viewer interest in India, and therefore normally they are not broadcast live. However this time, the matches were broadcast on Sony Ten 1. Also, they were available on SonyLIV (online streaming). However, from what I heard the viewership numbers were very low, when compared to the other ongoing matches such as South Africa vs West Indies. If the BCCI want to popularize women's game, then they need to start the WIPL. Showing the women's ODI on TV once in a while is not going to do the job.

Players must be thanking rain atm, this team is really going down the gutter and hitting new low after every series. We have fair amount of cricket coming up, hopefully no more dead series.

If the match ends in "no result", then Sri Lanka will get 5 points in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Right now they have just 8 points from 8 matches and are behind all the other teams (Ireland and Netherlands have 20 points each). 5 points from this match would mean that they end up with 13 points from 9 matches, which will be enough for them to overtake South Africa and Zimbabwe, and get themselves promoted to the 11th place (both South Africa and Zimbabwe have played only 3 matches each). BTW, Sri Lanka's next ODI series is going to be against India (starting next week).

The Sri Lankan players will be happy with the weather and they might be praying for the weather interruption throughout the series and they finally got when they were struggling, if the delay was before the start of the innings they would have saved themselves from the embarrassment of 132 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

It looks like today is not their lucky day. Play has resumed at Bristol, with Sri Lanka struggling at 141/8. Dushmantha Chameera and Dasun Shanaka are at the crease and England is trying really hard to get the remaining two wickets (there is a sense of urgency now, as it is expected that there will be more rain interruptions later). When a mediocre bowler like Tom Curran dismantles the Sri Lankan batting lineup, you can imagine how horribly they have performed in this series. England is missing more than half a dozen of their regular players, and still they will end up with a 3-0 series win.

Don't remember much about recent ODI-T-20 Point system, so nothing much to add but coming back to next WC. I seriously want low ranking team to win the T-20 Tourney,

@SaShiRaJaVu We have 5-6 series this month, Pak vs Eng (ODI-T-20), Aus vs WI (ODI-T-20) coming up then Ind vs SL. Keep in mind that BCCI announced 2 different Indian teams, one is already in England for the test series starting from August and other Indian team visiting SL for limited overs cricket (July 13).

Sri Lanka lost 10 wickets in the third ODI and scored 166 runs. Dasum Shanaka is the highest run scorer for Sri Lanka. He has scored 48 runs. Very weak batting lineup. They lost 6 valuable wickets to collect only 87 runs. Tom Curran has taken a maximum of 4 wickets for England. Moreover Cris Wokes has bowled tremendously. England's batsmen can easily cross the target of 167 runs.
