Today's match is very important for Afghanistan and Sri Lanka as the team that wins today's match will win the series. However, early on Sri Lankan bowlers put a lot of pressure on the Afghan batting line which is enough for Sri Lanka to win today's match.

Don't worry!  Afghanistan most probably would lose the final match. They have already lost 4 wickets before even reaching 100 runs in the power play. Rashid Khan is yet to bat and at the moment Nabi is playing. Most probably they will give a target of 250 runs to a max. This was suppose to happen when you are playing against Srilanka on thier home ground. BTW, Afghanistan VS India bilateral series has been postponed UFN. The Indian team after the WTC would get a whole month to rest.

This happens with all of the inexperienced teams. Afghanistan had a big win in their first match. They started so well. But then they lost the second ODI and now they are going to lose their third ODI as well. But then, at least half a dozen Afghan players were part of the recently concluded IPL season. Many of them performed exceptionally well and it is ironic that the same players are underperforming now.

But not as experienced as West Indies players. Ali Naseer and Basil Hameed both scored fairly well against West Indies. I did not understand whether he played T20 or ODI against Afghanistan. 10 batsmen could not play 25 overs in a 50 over game. T20s don't usually score as low as Afghanistan did in the ODI against Sri Lanka when they were bowled out for just 116 runs. There is no pressure for Sri Lanka to win if they score two runs per over they can win. There is no fun watching such a match. The way the Afghanistan batsmen came and went on the wicket looked like they had a lot of stars and the sooner they could finish this game the better for them. I did not see any player batting with responsibility in the moment of pressure.

The question may come to our mind that the bowling line-up is stronger than the batting line-up of Afghanistan so why they were defeated by 9 wickets.

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka and Afghanistan square off against each other in the third and final ODI match to clinch the series. As Sri Lanka won the toss and batted in the second ODI match, Afghanistan followed the same pattern in the third ODI match  they won the toss and decided to bat first. But their batting decision after winning the toss against Sri Lanka was not right as they had already lost 5 wickets for 77 runs.
With the way they lost wickets early on, Afghanistan could probably muster 170 to 190 runs in the first innings. 170 to 190 runs can never be a safe score to win in ODI cricket.

The Series is won by Srilanka.  

Srilanka won comfortably in the end with 9 wickets. I did not expect a one-sided match where they only had to chase 116 runs in the final ODI match.  Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne easily chased down this score by making 50+ runs both of them. The opener from Sri Lanka single-handedly chased this score as they lost their first wicket at 84 runs.

Afghanistan did win the first ODI match but after that the next two matches, the Sri Lankan team won by a big margin. They won the 2nd ODI by 132 runs and this last ODI with 9 wickets.

Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan match was really a boring match as such game is very rare in T20 too. How can an ODI match end at 116/120 runs?  In 50 overs, Afghanistan lost all wickets in just 22.2 overs and scored only 116 runs and Sri Lanka won the match by scoring 120 runs in just 16 overs.  Afghanistan played really badly.  In the second ODI too, where Sri Lanka set Afghanistan a target of 323 runs, Afghanistan managed to score only 191 runs.  However, Afghanistan managed to win the first ODI against Sri Lanka. looking at today's match, Afghanistan looks very weak in the game of cricket
