In the defender position there are still players who were Xavi mainstay last season but they failed to maintain the strength of Barcelona defensive wall. There's no need to rush to say it the season is still long 20 matches waiting ahead and we must remember Real Madrid have a busy schedule which may have an impact on their performance in the Spanish League I'm not saying Girona is better than Madrid but sometimes there are moments that can be exploited for example when Madrid competes in the champions league then they can't totally play in La Liga I mean some players will miss the La Liga match and they are prepared for the champions league match. Girona should be able to take advantage of this moment by winning every match.

Some people here talk as if the last game is about to be played in a few days from now. Goal difference doesn't matter. It's hard to imagine barcelona to take the second place. The club will be losing more players in the late season. It's caused by barcelona urgently needs to raise as much money as the club can to handle the debt.

I think that all of top teams in la liga will always become rivals for barcelona. Barcelona is still struggling due to the financial trouble that may be never end. I don't see that the best option is to pay the debt. Barcelona has two long and short term debts and these debts will be giving impact to the any movement being made by barcelona this time. It's hard to say where barcelona will get the money to pay its debt. It's caused by these long and short term debts owned by barcelona are very big. The club is always trying so hard to pay that but it was never decreasing.
Xavi has been forcing by the situation to put some key players for sale in the market. This initiative has been coming when barcelona was struggling to pay the debts owned by the club. This is the main problem that may be so hard to be solved.

The point is that a change of position is still possible in the standings.

But based on current performance, of course Real Madrid and Girona are still showing that they deserve to be in the title race this season. Is only 2 ? I think being on 2nd place in LaLiga is really a great achievement that no one really anticipated before the season began. Personally , I think they will become champions of LaLiga just like Leicester did it a few years ago in EPL and I'm saying this because I've watched at least 6 games of Girona this season and this team is playing the best football in Spain right now and they should be champions as long as VAR or some referees won't screw them.

I mean they are currently in La Liga for the 2nd year. They were promoted in season 22/23. That means they haven't played in the league for long.  The first year they ended up in 10th place. This year they are starting to make history of always being in the top 3. This season Girona drew against Betis, this left them on the same points as Madrid and they dropped to 2nd. Betis are not a weak team, they have also only lost 2 games.

Girona's achievements after last season only reached 10th place and then this season competing at the top deserves the greatest appreciation. And what makes Girona unique is that their squad depth is not as good as Real Madrid or Barcelona. But their performance has matched Real Madrid and is currently even better than Barcelona. An interesting thing this season also happened because of the presence of Girona in the competition at the top.

What I hope is that Girona can at least stay in the top 4 zone so they can get a ticket to the Champions League. And with their current performance this should be possible. Even winning a title can happen. And actually, if we look at who owns the most shares in Girona, we won't be surprised by Girona's current performance. Because the fact that everyone should know is that Girona and Manchester City are under the City Football Group. However, the difference is that Manchester City has many extraordinary players so it is natural that they are extraordinary in the EPL. But Girona is only filled with ordinary players but they can be extraordinary now in Laliga.
