The SP20 is a retail level product introduced at a time when retail level mining is quickly becoming a thing of the past, except for those with free electricity or those willing to take a haircut on the 'investment'. It'll probably be popular in countries with currency controls.
I live in a country with strict monetary control (Venezuela), almost free electricity (0.002Kwh) and I'm not buying!!!! Well gosh, there goes that theory. So why do people buy something for 2.5 BTC that is worth 1.3 BTC ? Answer: because they can ?

Yes, you are right. I think I will stick to SP31
Which is great for those that already got a coupon, for those still waiting there is no SP31 any more.

$1200 (>2.5 btc) without PSU due end of Oct. Disappointing price&date. Jep. I want one, but i can't get my calcs to ROI this little beauty Yeah I want one too....but with power supply corsair 1500i (I think it was recommended in this thread) new egg price of 449.99 usd and the shipping (anyone know shipping I'm guessing $210?) and the total price is $1,849.99 usd when I figure it all out at the price/hash/watts my elec costs of 15c per kwh (which is the ave for the usa) plus the above just in BTC bought vs BTC I can mine at a very low imho 15% difficulty rate....I take a bath on this cute miner unfortunately that $1,849.99 will buy 3.8739 btc direct after elec and equip costs well feel free to do the calcs using the above I take guite a bath! too bad ..if it was close to at least making sense I'd have gotten on just to fight back against the centralization of mining..but I mean really I did use 15% diff rise as the lowest I can see happening till the unit gets to my door....just can't get the numbers to work buy BTC vs make BTC..and of course with BTC being so dang low don't even have USD as a kinda sorta backstop for a justification for the toy (alas). Anyway I understand spondoolies has costs to cover etc..and this is probably as fair a price as they can pull off..but I just can't pull the trigger Now if you have a coupon? and or a big ass power supply to run the beast? and much cheaper elec costs then 15c/kwh (or say live in the dorm heh free elec) more power too you ....but I actually 'lust' for this little beastie...and at my 15/kwh elec rate just can't do it ...would be like throwing away 1 1/2 BTC more or less vs buying BTC anyway good newbie intro product ..they won't get hurt too bad ...and the rule is newbies always get equipment first (its soooo fluffy!) cynical 1 year miner that I am......been there done that .... Anyway probably not a problem for spondoolies there is a lot of cheap elec out there I'm sure they will sell them out ASAP Searing

anyon fall into their bullshit ? their hardware is waaaay to expensive to be worth investing in.even with free electricity you can't ROI... only way it would be worth is to be at least half the price they are selling now anything above ... just stay away, much better to just buy BTC
not that i'm advertising or anything, but you can just buy antminers s3(like I did) instead, much cheaper, better efficiency and with shipping included !

Antiminer S3's shipping in mid -September ROI after you buy the PSU's? Just none of the miners offered by spondoolies antminer or whoever can ROI with the amount of hash hitting the network...ie buying BTC vs mining BTC....and this is further a problem with out high USD to even as a backup for the ego....at least you could ROI in your own mind with say USD....real $$$ even if buying BTC at the time of purchase would have been wiser (that option is now also toast...killed my denial dead getting a miner now) well....I suppose I could be looking around for a used sp10? maybe as a home miner....just make part of the room soundproof? (ouch!) just don't see any equip purchases at the home market that can float the boat at my 15c/kwh....might work for others I can't get that boat for float! anyway again newbies will flock to the sp20 because it is the best deal..and newbies always buy miners in my view (at least the big buck jump in the pool newbies like I was)....so spondoolies will do just fine on these units....imho reality is kinda a bummer with BTC difficulty and home mining Searing

Antiminer S3's shipping in mid -September ROI after you buy the PSU's? SNIP SNIP SNIP Was asking the dude that was calling SPtech hardware out... what about Antminer's S3's is the question. Don't need to hop on his question let him answer. Answer the question. Does the Antiminer S3's ROI after you include the purchase of the PSU's? Where are your numbers on efficiency Th/s to Th/s? 5.5 Th/s (SP31) how many Ant S3s is that? 6.0 Th/s (SP35) how many Ant S3s is that? Ok... so let us see your comparisons. No need to post lines and lines of text just the numbers thanks. I want to see how Antiminer's ROI. If you want to compare them with the SP20's then 1.7 TH/s ± 10% @ $1,190.00 + PSU. 1100 W With a 0.9 Efficiency PSU. I just want to see how the S3's are ROI at current BTC prices. Seems like you are trying to sell S3s as ROI. Looks like everything including hashing from the cloud is non ROI currently. Show me where you can find ROI please.

Show me where you can find ROI please. 5.5TH = 11 S3+ units = ~6.3 BTC AFAIC, an ATX supply to power these is reusable for other systems and has a strong resale market. (not so much for the server PSUs in an SP31). You might spend $700 to power 4kW, but could resell those supplies a year later for $400-500 besides, the S3+ B8 price was too high - i purposely did not buy any for that reason. At this point in the game prices for units that dont have a PSU and use <0.7w/GH should be around 1BTC/TH. (Asicminer gear at 1.2w/GH has been selling for ~1BTC/TH almost two weeks now) "If you want to compare them with the SP20's then 1.7 TH/s ± 10% @ $1,190.00 + PSU. 1100 W With a 0.9 Efficiency PSU."4x S3+ units = 1.8TH / 1.4kW @ $1,120.00 + PSU (expected to overclock easily to 1.9-2.0 TH) - Shipping before Sept 20 ( at least 2 weeks before Spondoolies' 'October Shipping'tl;dr - i agree that a lot of hardware right now is not going to ROI if we keep getting difficulty jumps >10%. The best ROI is to buy Asicminer equipment for less $/GH and run them in a location with cheap power. hopefully we see some in-stock sales and price competition next month

If you are going to run down a company feel free guys to actually post numbers and not just trash talk. Also if you are buying always USD right? Or convert your $$ to BTC before you buy. Holding BTC is better bet I think... then again what does the future hold? Never know.

Small adjustment, lets go by quoted performance, 5.5TH / 453GH = just over 12 S3's plus you have to buy them in pairs anyway from Bitmain so its actually more realistic, then adjust the PSU price as well to account for the extra S3 and it starts the approach the price of the SP3x, theres still some margin to the benefit of buying S3's but then the add another 355W for the extra S3 and the watts is much higher than the SP3x Lastly they really are different markets with the SP3x and S3 because for Sp-tech buyers the smaller rack U footprint is important when paying for rack space. In which case the SP20 is much more comparable a product and as you say its close there as well from a price perspective. Not getting into the ROI debate, everyone has their own justification or lack of for that, I just trust people to make the decision on what to purchase for themselves for their own reasons.

it's quite simple.
if bitcoin goes to 600 $ only then I will consider SP20.
sub 500 $ coins - > S3 all the way.

Correction, you don't have to buy them in twos. The minimum order is two. I bought three. And they also allow you to purchase a single S3 by placing an order for two but you only send payment for one.

Guys,
When you got an order receipt from S-T emailed to you, did you get bank account details? I received the receipt but haven't got any bank transfer info so I don't really know where I'm supposed to send money to.
