I have never known that Monaco used to be a big and rich club in France. Did I miss anything? I have been watching football and understood it since 2000 so far.

I know there are some seasons Monaco played very impressively in Ligue 1 and Champions League but they have never been a best or rich clubs in either France or Europe.

They had good times with Rothen, Giuly and Morientes years ago with the Champions League final against Porto with Mourinho, Deco, Carvalho. Recent years, they had good season with Mbappe and a few other players who all moved to bigger clubs.

all Lyon titles (7) were since between 2000-2010, and most titles in France has St. Etienne, that has 10 titles throughout history, PSG has nine, and they will probably overcome St. Etienne in following years, with their dominance

But now, we have a completely different scenario. Both of them have been having a terrible season so far. Monaco are the 11th and Lille are following them right behind. And both of them have a bad run lately too. I feel closer to seeing a draw here and both teams should be able to score.

First of all I never said "big" I said "rich". I actually even said "rich small"

As I said in this thread a few weeks ago or months when Messi moved to PSG (which is when I started following), I never watched or paid much attention to the football here but for us outsiders, Monaco, as I've explained in my post you responded to, has always been seen as a rich club (not compared to PSG of course) but for sure compared to many other clubs.

I mean, Mbappe and Fabinho used to play for them, and they were their own stars there.

Monaco is part owned by a Russian billionaire so like Chelsea's Russian rich guy, which was the reason they went up from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 and won it. They spent over 120 million euro in 2013 alone -- that was BIG money to buy some of those stars you mentioned.

So yeah, I think we all outside see Monaco as rich club, or was rich at some point. Then they stopped spending and PSG started spending more, as they realized they were not THAT rich.

but in terms of play and tactics I would like to see Lille win this match because I think they are more prepared for this match.
although indeed Monaco are above them by a difference of 2 points but in terms of individual player skills and tactical cooperation I tend to favor Lille in this regard.

I think Lille players and staff knows that they have reached their maximum last season by winning the title,its hard for them and try against PSG this year that has an unstoppoble team. But this will be a great match between this two teams and im expecting lots of goals in this match

Yeah, it was the top level for Lille last year for sure. Teams like this don't experience this much big successes very often. It was the case for Lille also. They were just extremely good at playing as a team and that had the biggest role in winning the Ligue 1 title also. Otherwise, they didn't have the best lineup of the league in the end. There was a big difference between them and PSG in terms of lineup quality.

Well yes they had a couple of very close games but they are very stable and with Brazil the only team that has not suffered a loss so far. The defense is ok, the offense could do better, but now comes the most interesting game anyway against Brazil. They are six points ahead but still this is the most important game for both I guess in order to find out where they are currently at in world soccer. Both teams essentially qualified for the final round already unless a negative miracle happens.

I guess Monaco is still going to try to compete for a champions league rank, but that looks really bad already. I don't even know how Kovac managed to make it into the CL last season. He isn't a good coach, but had a dozen of close games which turned out to be a win for Monaco last season. It is not the same this season.

if we take it even more globally, for each individual player the situation does not differ at all in whatever club he plays - he must always play well because failures will bring him under fire. The pressure here is strong both on Ronaldo, who must live up to his star status, and on average players who must try to do their job. Now, comparing the situation of PSG and any English team that is fighting for the championship, we can hardly say that PSG has the same difficult situation, right? In premier league unless you are losing to Watford or Brighton or whoever, I don't believe that you will be attacked as much. If the best team in the league (whoever you think it is in premier league) on paper ends up not being the first, it is totally okay, Liverpool was not even seen as this good just a few years ago, and then Klopp came in and built a monster of a team.

So, it is understandable in Premier league because it is such a fierce competition. Whereas in Ligue 1, PSG either wins the league with 10+ point difference or they failed. That type of insane expectations do not happen anywhere else. Of course, it is easier for them to become champions, but look at last year and how they failed and how they got 5 different players because of it, spent 40+ million on just Messi to make everyone forget about it and get hyped again.
