EPL Standing

This is how the table stands after second round of fixtures, After a fantastic win against Leicester City yesterday, West Ham displaced Chelsea to top the table. What a night it was for Michail Antonio, who became West Ham's all-time top scorer with 49 goals, a magnificent achievement for someone who was a RB player a few years ago and developed into a top striker.

Are we going to have another Moyes ( West ham) masterclass?

Arsenal in the mug.

Ha-ha, I lost money on a bet again yesterday! Cheesy
West Ham are lucky Leicester got a red card! Well, West Ham are now top of the standings with two games and 6 points... Probably not for long...
By the way, last season West Ham and Leicester lacked a few points to qualify for the Europa League... Maybe this season they will be lucky!

Yes, with Leicester's red card changing West Ham's game, and West Ham for the second time in history closing out the game week as leaders, the Hammers are repeating the same feat they achieved on 22 August 2006.

and West Ham are only ahead in goal productivity with teams from Chelsea and Liverpool picking equal points, and it doesn't look like it will be long though David Moyes hopes to keep his game, as well as increase his side's pace.

Poor Leicester got a huge defeat against West Ham last night. Until the red card, I think that things weren't going so bad for them. Maybe they were 1-0 behind but they were making an effort to equalize the score. But Ayoze Perez's unsportsmanlike conduct caused them to start playing with 10 players for another whole half. And West Ham were not intending to make do with this score of course. They played superbly and destroyed Leicester 4-1. I really liked to watch Antonio also. He did great with 2 goals and 1 assist.

It's quite a shock. Yes they were playing with ten men, but still often teams are fine with ten men and can hold out and not concede again. Leicester are a good team, and this result is a real surprise. West Ham looked quite good last season. If they continue to improve then they should be one of the favourites for a European spot, although they still are a long way short of Champions League quality.

I do love it when a team that has been written off this season, starts proving the doubters wrong. Everyone thought that the West Ham form last season was an anomaly, but if you look at their squad, then they've got some real players in it. If they were to make a few transfers in key positions, probably center back being the priority I could see them challenging again for top six.

Poor Leicester got a huge defeat against West Ham last night.

Leichester blocked every chance of taking a point in the game very early yesterday. First the early conceded goal in the 26th minute and then the deserved red card in the 40th minute. The game was actually over for Leichester until half time. West Ham played that well in the second half, but you could see the difference on having a man more on the field for over 50 minutes.

I don’t think Westham has been written off this season.  They’ve been doing well under Moyes both on the pitch and with their player transfer acquisitions... They better try to hold onto Declan Rice for as long as they can.  I’m pretty sure the big clubs would be asking for him in a season or two.

What I'm trying to say is that they performed above expectations last season, and now a lot of the people I've talked to or opinions across the internet including their own fans seem to think unless they bring in new additions to the team, they'll likely fall considerably short of the achievement of last season. I somewhat disagree, I think they need to shore up that defense, and keep Declan Rice. Although I definitely see him leaving next season. Although, they'll likely get 80-100 million for him, and as long as they invest that well they should be alright. In fact, could potentially be better off.

^  West Ham’s squad is solid rn.  No need to bring in some fresh faces yet imo and the good thing is they held onto all of their core players.  These are the current departures just this summer:  https://www.transfermarkt.com/west-ham-united/rekordabgaenge/verein/379/saison_id/2021

I don’t think we’re going to see a major departure by the time the transfer window closes...  Moyes is going to run West Ham like he did Everton back in the day.  A decent midtable club that could fight for a spot to qualify for Europe.

Their squad is aging, and they have Europa football this season, which means they'll be playing a lot more games, and be a lot more congested. This increases the chances of injuries, but also fatigue. Their defense is particularly aging right now, and with a lot of those players like Cresswell, and Ogbonna being vital to their success. I think they would be wise investing in increased depth for the additional games that they have to play this season. That's the only reason I don't see them performing to the same level as last season, however if they get in a few new additions to the squad they should be able to cope easier.

We are going to have a really awesome match in four days. It is Manchester City vs Arsenal. Arsenal manager Arteta is under big pressure as they lost all of their matches so far. If they lose this match also, probably he will be really near to get sacked. On the other hand, Manchester City made up for the loss against Tottenham. They erased Norwich 5-0. As they are in-form and the match is in Etihad, I give 0 chance for Arsenal to get even one point. I think that City will destroy them also.

I think a 4-1 result is not explained easily even with a red card at all. I have to say that it is not going to be that easy for Leicester to recover from this. I mean think about it we are talking about West ham here, they are not bad don't get me wrong but they lost Jack Grealish as well and they should have been a worse team and Leicester lost 4-1 to that team, that is humiliating.

Yes, as you can understand I wagered on that game as well. In any case the start of the season was a bit weird, so that is why I honestly believe that we should not be seeing any problem with weird results for now because that is the whole league and not just one team and that is why this game seems normal compared to some other games.

Talking about Declan Rice: Manchester United would have their eyes on Monaco midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni, who'd be one of the main targets of Solskjaer's team, according to reports from The Sun. The French talent, born in 2000, is valued at around forty million and would be the low cost alternative of Declan Rice, who has a valuation almost two times bigger than that of Monaco's midfielder.

I think the game is important not only for Arsenal (and its coach), but also for ManCity. If they lose the game, then they would already be a few points behind the other top clubs like Liverpool, Chealsea and ManU, should they win their games (what is to be expected). The competition in the Premier League is so tight that it will be hard to make up a 5-6 point gap after a few matchdays in the long run.

^  West Ham’s squad is solid rn.  No need to bring in some fresh faces yet imo and the good thing is they held onto all of their core players.  These are the current departures just this summer:
Their squad is aging, and they have Europa football this season, which means they'll be playing a lot more games, and be a lot more congested. This increases the chances of injuries, but also fatigue. Their defense is particularly aging right now, and with a lot of those players like Cresswell, and Ogbonna being vital to their success. I think they would be wise investing in increased depth for the additional games that they have to play this season. That's the only reason I don't see them performing to the same level as last season, however if they get in a few new additions to the squad they should be able to cope easier.

Oh..  You’re right.  Good catch.  Yeah I guess they’d have to sell Declan Rice and a couple of the old guard like Noble and acquire a center back, a defensive midfielder to replace Rice and a center forward.  Michail Antonio is 31.  It’s good to do it slowly tho and let the squad gel together.  And it won’t waste money.  I mean look at the Wolves...  Too much too soon.

I really feel for Arsenal fans this time around because they are expecting good result to come, but the result are not coming so far.Arsenal team are really a mess right now with their result. They have good players at their disposal, players like Pepe,Xhaka,Saka,Lacazette,Smith,Tierney and co,,are really good players that can make things to happen, but I wonder why the good results are not coming.

It is then I begin to think Arsenal problem is Arteta, because same thing happened to Chelsea, untill they sacked Lampard and bring Tuchel, that Chelsea was able to come back good, without him adding any Xtra player to the one Lampard bought, and use those players to take the champion league, that is to say that if a better coach comes to Arsenal, all these players at Arsenal will pick form and begin to play well and win matches for their unhappy fans. So for the game against City,I think City will thrash them.

I think that Arsenal simply have no chance against Manchester City. City will score multiple goals, perhaps Arsenal will not be able to score a single goal. Is Arteta to blame for this? Perhaps it is his fault, something is clearly happening in the team, the situation is tense, the team seems to be losing on purpose to get rid of the coach. If you remembered the example of Chelsea, then Chelsea did this trick not only with Lampard, they also got rid of Mourinier in their time. And when Tuchel came, the team just started playing the dynamic attacking football that Tuchel loves so much.

even though head to head arsenal still won the match with 23 victories and city which only won 19 times against arsenal if you look at the depth of the current squad and the performance of both teams I really doubt if arsenal can win the match against city this time.
even a draw will feel very difficult to happen considering that city players are now more complex and more complete.
in contrast to arsenal's performance, which is getting worse in my opinion, even for the current season, I think arsenal doesn't look ready to navigate the current season.
I'm more inclined to win City and it will be difficult for Arsenal even to hold a draw will be difficult.

@alpamar99 Arsenal will have Lacazette and Auba back for this fixture, and these two will have to score otherwise Arsenal are looking for a big defeat again. Also I don’t think player’s are playing bad on purpose, the thing is Arteta like Lampard didn’t have the experience of managing big teams, and Tuchel had lots of experience that’s why it worked for him.

Romelu Lukaku immediately made his mark with Chelsea and will be a key player for Tuchel this year. After the first 15 minutes of the match against Arsenal, the Belgian had already swollen the net, proving to be perfectly fitting in the chessboard prepared by Thomas Tuchel, whose weak point was the absence of a center forward who could assure goals in bunches. Two victories out of two for the Blues.
Next game with Liverpool is going to be a must see.
Despite the two attcking forces on both sides of the field, you can expect a game with few goals (likely less than three overall) as it often happens when Chelsea crosses the other big teams of the league. The Blues should in any case avoid defeat at Anfield Road.
1-1 could be a great profiting bet.
