The difference of 12 goals is not a big amount to chase, Messi is still active in the Champions League and has the opportunity to continue to add to his number of goals. While Ronaldo will automatically not appear in the UCL after defending Al Nassr, Ronaldo's 141 goals will stop as long as Ronaldo defends Al Nassr.

Messi has a great chance to surpass Ronaldo goal record in the UCL, at least for the next two years Messi will be able to pass him.
