Anyone who has the skills to leave no trace of his crypto usage, can either:

a) not accomplish anything since no trace may be left;
b) not stay under the radar due to he is so skilled that he's certainly on the list already.

Try another frontier. Such as questioning the legitimacy of the whole charade. Bruce Fenton said he went on offensive when a cop was trying to fill his ticket quota with him, making the cop admit that he's on the morally losing side, but needs to get his family fed. In this case, at the expense of another family of 6.

Anyone who believes he can keep perfect best-practices in security 100% of the time with bitcoin is deluding themselves. Using Monero will be part of best-practices.

Year 2021
Bitcoin Supply: ~90% mined
Supply Inflation: <1.8%

Every bitcoin wallet does use a new address for each transaction by default.

Can those addresses/transactions be linked to each other by examining the blockchain?

Yes. Let's say you have 10 BTC on an address and you make a payment of 1 BTC to someone. In the transaction, 1 BTC goes to the recipient address, while the remaining 9 BTC (minus any tx fee) goes to a new change address in your bitcoin wallet.

It is easy for anyone to then trace what you do with your BTC and see how much you have, even if they don't necessarily know what it is being spent on.

lol guys - the forum is not that bad, this thread is much worse now, its too condensed and we are in unfriendly territory, I would lock this thread and suggest any further Monero topics to be discussed in the official forum only.

No, following those other coins and moving out of Bitcointalk would be the worst decision one can possibly make.

I propose having a easy, sleek, and simple "official" website layout on Monero.cc that shows all relevant things then and there, like fundraising for (x),(x),(x), a basic overview of Monero's features and similarity to actual cash(Fungibility is a big +1), and a non custom forum similar to this one. Basically, that would be temporary, until actual guides and etc are added on. I found it's best to give the public something temporary and shiny to look at and use, until the perfected product comes out.

All I want is a way to pay for cam girls without my wife potentially finding out--is that too much to ask?

Until Monero gets really popular you really should avoid things like this... or you can always use a Bitcoin mixer and get in the same room as drug dealers and scammers.

While things of that nature are usually looked down upon by contemporary society(Let's face it, everyone has watched porn at least once), it still and would help tremendously, after all it's just porn. The goal is to be as good as, if not the decentralized, innovative superior to traditional fiat cash, and that means the currency would and should get used for a multitude of reasons.

Very soon you will be able to instantly pay anyone that accepts BTC using XMR. Your wife will never know, even if she is a blockchain forensic expert. I can't reveal the service but I've tried it and it works very well.

I won't use forum that requires javascript active to browse.

Something i wanted to say

Have been an emotional supporter since day one. But the state of affairs in here are pressing me to second thoughts. I mean what exactly is happening here? Mew making their own shitty forum while core team forum is nothing to talk about. No clear idea which website belongs to whom and where should we go to find info. And the prehistoric site designs dont do much to engage anyone.

Where is the community, where are the ideas, what is happening actually?

Only one thing i know, the db is coming and it is coming . Sigh
Dont tell me it is in testing. Where are the repeated requests by the devs to test it

These are harsh but true words. We need to Organise. We need to streamline and stop playing games.

Here is what i want to happen -

Change the mew name to Monero Foundation, the foundation will have voting to select new members, irrespective of their holdings.

Only two groups. The Foundation and the Core Team

We need a new good looking website.
We need a new good looking forum. No scratch experiments. Who got the time for that. Time is of utmost value in these times of competition.

These will be the official sites. The foundation will have a separate site and can have a private forum. Dont need two forums.

The core team needs to clearly define a timeline of things to be developed. They need to stop wasting time and pick up one thing at a time and work collaboratively on it.

To the extent of my knowledge we need the db and then the gui. We should focus on these goals only

Then the question arises of funding - there is no other way but to invite funding. So the real question is why will people fund us. We need a service like mymonero which we can sell shares of. We need to brainstorm some ideas.

All in all a scam called darkcoin is ahead of monero just because they are organized, focused, swift

As David just pointed out to me, Here it is.

https://xmrmonero.com/forums/general-discussions

All it really needs now is the userbase to signup (already did) and for the shading to be corrected for readability. That half tone is ridiculous.

https://xmrmonero.com/forum/forum-request <<-- My first thread (probably needs a sub forum for change/add requests).

What is the next big thing for Monero that could push Monero to place 5 on cmc?

  • Database (imminent)
  • GUI (soon™)
  • More people looking for privacy and anonymity in their transactions
  • Services and Merchants accepting XMR
  • Emission that decreases each and every block

All of these things are coming from a growing community.

Something very cool, a new service specifically for XMR->BTC payments. I think they are working out some bugs so stay tuned.  Cool
