Is Kovri going to accomplish the same thing vpn does, i.e. obscure your ip address, and will it work for more than just running monerod, i.e. general internet surfing?
Yes, Kovri is a C++ implementation of I2P that is compatible with the current Java-based I2P. Kovri will hide your IP address from your ISP and other onlookers. For more info: https://monero.stackexchange.com/search?q=kovri

I agree with this completely. I use a logless VPN. It's a bit like a "decentralized" Tor if you think about it, and you hope to get lost in the noise by the time anyone gets interested it's already old news. The only point of failure there is if your provider is somehow compromised, which is why, as a US citizen, I use chained VPNs outside of my country (all logless). I actually feel much safer doing that then Tor. You want to be a drop in the ocean here...
I'm sure eveyone in the US is running through one of these. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Room_641AWell, only a few countries can "afford" this kind of surveillance... First World problems. ive been aware of Monero as its near the top of coinmarketcap and curious about it. Why does it have such a high MK? What does it offer and whats in the plans for the future?
Im a long term investor and looking to invest in future potential. Ive read the 1st page of the thread but just reads like all others so asking on here if i can have a 2-3 sentence cut down explanation
cheers
Monero is the only 100% fungable coin. It has continuous development with hundreds of devs. Since day there has never not been a period without a team of Devs available also one thing Monero is doing things correctly is that by not putting the carriage before the horse the marketing has not even started. All this Market Cap and Volume is from word of mouth unlike other coins, It is now being adopted and accepted in lue of BTC in Darkmarkets as well. About 2.5% usage there I think so it will only grow as fas as I'm concerned. Also if you notice by scrolling back a page or 2 I had a question about it's protection from blockchain spam and a Dev answered immediately, where else do you see that?

Can anyone help... ?? Why won't it load?
I'd advise to delete the the blockchain, because a full resync is most likely needed. This is done as follows: 1. Open your Windows explorer. 2. Type the following into the navigation bar (the one at the top): C:\ProgramData\bitmonero\lmdb 3. Delete data.mdb. 4. Now you can restart monerod.exe. Note that you will have to resync from scratch, which may take some time. THANKS! Fixed - found all of my monero's except for 3 oh welll... Taking that as a 'cost of doing business' loss.

Eventually i'll make it up with my 500 H/s mining 3 XMR is a lot to be missing from any wallet, no matter how much there is in there. Unless you had hundreds of transactions and forgot to account for their fees, I suggest you look into this discrepancy. Check again all payments you received and sent.

Check the transactions from mining pools in a block explorer or check against your wallet's received list. Some of them might not have gone through. You might want to narrow it down to whether you're missing some inputs or there's a payment (or more) that you don't remember making. In case of the latter, someone might have gained access to your wallet and sent a transaction to test things.

So, Which miners software should I use? whether monerohash.com is scame websites? because I get the software from the links listed on the website. monerohash.com is fine. What binaries you use are up to you. I for example have 2 graphics cards (AMD) so I use claymore's miner since I'm running windows 10. Again, up to to you, most mining pool sites have the same binaries for download depending on what you want to use ie gpu or cpu / linux /windows etc etc. I use moneropool.com for almost 2 years now without much issue but always have failback pool as well. cheers.

Keep in mind that payout is not until 1 XMR is earned. You can request a lower payout if you are willing to pay a higher fee to the pool owner, At about 2 KH/s you'll get 1 - 1.1 XMR every 5 to 6 days. Good luck.

freewallet.org monero wallet Freewallet is scam, don use it. For now there is no mobile wallet, but if you need you can use via smartphone MyMonero.com, on PC you can use GUI Beta 2 + Remote Node.
