Monero is a serious project and a lot of trash like BCH will soon fade away. This the moment to buy,no panic and no fear. I bought XMR at 86.5 and I am not willing to sell off,I already knows Monero will pass soon a lot of coins.

The main problem of monero is that most mining takes place with the help of infected computers. This is not very good especially for those who understand that these people are immediately sold on the exchange illegally mined profit.

So what?

Criminals use every currency, the fact they use it proves it's worth.

Did you swear off using USD because it's used to fund rape torture mass murder and genocide?

I will continue using USD even it is used to fund rape torture mass murder and genocide as it is permitted by the US government.

It seems to me that Monero will be able to take the place of one of the most popular coins at the moment - ETH. This project is developing very actively.

This is a un-moderated thread. The speculation one is the moderated one, smooth has done a great job over the years in there. I would not wish that on anyone but if you wanted to take that over I doubt anyone would argue with that.

And just to extend the Hueristic answer (I joint to it completely), note that Monero is almost the only crypto who has been scheduled a regular hard-fork (2 times per year) with anti-ASIC mining algo modification. Anti-ASIC fights against bot-nets too, because most bot-nets were created before first anti-ASIC modification took place, i.e. their creators din't know about future modifications and their bot-nets can't work now.

Of course, new bot-nets come to the scene periodically, but they encounter several number of brand new difficulties:
1. end-users and anti-viruses know about malware mining and can detect this type of activity
2. it is significantly more complicated to create bot-nets with update mechanism
3. our community fights against bot-net officially, particularly, the pool software can detect bot-net low difficulty share traffic and block it

How to estimate a percentage of bot-nets in the whole Monero hashrate? An obvious approach is to compare hashrate before and after 2nd algo modification on hardfork cn/1 to cn/2 - wtih the same one appeared on hardfork cn/0 to cn/1 when most ASIC had been rejected by network:

- on hardfork cn/0 to cn/1 hashrate changed from ~1Ghs to ~600Mhs (we killed all the ASICs)
- on hardfork cn/1 to cn/2 hashrate changed from ~600Mhs to ~500Mhs (we killed almost all the bot-nets)

today's hashrate is ~430MHs

so, there were no ASICs on hardfork cn/1 to cn/2 hashrate,
bot-nets' hashrate UPPER estimate is (600-500)/500 ~ 20%

but, after recent exchange dump from 1XMR = $110 to $60, hashrate dim is (500-430)/500 ~ 14%
Bot-nets never stop the mining because they are always profitable, this variations in hashrate are due to end-users' movements

so, real MEAN estimate of bot-nets' hashrate is 20%-14% = 6% now

I consider this 6% can be neglected.

That particular DLL is normally included in the .zip file. Can you check if your AV has perhaps quarantined some required files (i.e. files necessary in order for the GUI to run properly)?
