Wow - they sure took their time with that, but better late than never I guess. Anyone here know if wallets can be affected by the upcoming hardfork on March 9th? Affected as in? As in errors or quit working. Edit - also wondering how anonymous Monero is coming from a Coinomi wallet? One of their devs stated that Coinomi would be sufficiently prepared for the upcoming scheduled protocol upgrade: https://www.reddit.com/r/COINOMI/comments/auja7c/coinomi_monero_ama_feb_25_1200_utc/eh8n56e/

Crypto has to be anonymous like BTC, ETH and should never represent a company.
That's true. I don't understand how a "decentralised network" can have a CEO. Monero perhaps will gain #1 spot for anonymity.
It already has that. The question is how can a decentralized network of this kind come into existence without a CEO in the beginning? Someone has to start it although the role of that someone should be in line with what we envision as a "decentralized" network. You need governance as well. Bitcoin never had a CEO, and neither did Monero. They didn't call themselves CEO, but in the end there were important figures behind both of the projects you mentioned. And in the case of Monero I think it is still the same person.

I saw that, I am a bit dissapointed. But AFAIK only desktop wallets had this bug. And I would never hold a significant amount on a hot wallet like this.

As in errors or quit working. Edit - also wondering how anonymous Monero is coming from a Coinomi wallet? I don't blame you for being concerned about the fork. But it's not the wallet software that's at risk. If something bad happens at the fork, it won't be a glitch with your wallet software. If something bad happens at the fork, it could be much worse than that. It could be a 51% attack, with double spends. Your concern about the wallet not working is misplaced. If that's all you're worried about, you can put your mind at rest. By the way, linux CLI 14.0.0 daemon and wallet work great. I'm using it now. I still remember the problems I had upgrading my Linux wallet when Monero forked to v.7. Also I find the frequent forks tiresome, since they are only treating symptoms temporarily instead of curing the disease (ASIC vulnerability). The tech behind Monero is still cool, but not an end in itself, and I don't see the price going anywhere long as it remains "eclectic", and mainly useful on the darknet. I think the Coinomi Monero integration is a mixed bag - on one hand it's positive since it makes Monero more useful by providing more mainstream access to more people, on the other hand accessibility is a big minus if the wallet isn't secure ( https://www.reddit.com/r/reddCoin/comments/avb43d/crosspost_warning_coinomi_wallet_critical/). The competition is not standing idle. I don't really see Grin as a serious threat to Monero, but I DO see Litecoin as one, since it has a better image, does not have the same issues with ASICS, and looks soon ready for MimbleWimble protocol integration. XMR still has cheaper fees than LTC (ASICS could change this for LTC..), and XMR may still win if the DEV's manage to maintain tech lead by salvaging Kovri before it's too late.

We have a wallet exploit related to coinbase transactions. There will be a patch released on github on the 6th at 4pm GMT, so in about 4 days. In the meantime, you can be safe against any exploits by running "set refresh-type no-coinbase" in monero-wallet-cli. This should be set for every wallet you're running. This is a persistent flag, so once you quit monero-wallet-cli and start monero-wallet-rpc on that same wallet, the setting will persist. This is not a consensus bug, no double spend, no coins created out of thin air, etc.
Arbitrary code execution? Wallet DoS? edit not as fun as that. it's like the double counting wallet bug from before
