I've installed Minera on Xubuntu 13.10 but don't know how to start mining.

If I log in, I get this message:
"It seems your minerd is not running, please try to start it or review your settings."

I'm currently mining at Nicehash with this config:
#!/bin/sh
export DISPLAY=:0
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
cd /home/xxx/sgminer-5.0-daily-20140729-2-linux-amd64
./sgminer --algorithm darkcoin-mod -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3336 -u xxx -p d=0.08 --gpu-powertune 20 --gpu-fan 100 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g 2 -w 64 -I 17

BTW Do I have to copy only the "sgminer file" or the complete sgminer folder with all "cl files" to "/var/www/minera/minera-bin/"?

Thanks!

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Only the binary file, but probably it's better if you run "make install" after "make" and then copy the binary file to minera-bin/, this installs also all the library needed that Minera won't install in a "manual install".

Then, you should rename "sgminer" binary file into "cgminer" and use that as preferred miner (settings page).

But I never tried sgminer with Minera.

For Minera or SGMiner? I have currenctly only a precompiled SGMiner 5 build from Nicehash, can't compile it by myself. Could compile SPH-SGMiner instead.

BTW Does Minera support the Nicehash Multi-Algo mining ( https://nicehash.com/multialgo/ ) and does it work with ccMiner (Nvidia), too?

No, Cgminer, BFGminer, CPUminer, and every cgminer/bfgminer forks.

For manual Minera install (so not from image file for raspberry) you have to compile, install and copy binary file for each miner you wanna use (and those must be in the list I said before).

@marty1972 we need more info, what miner do you use? did you try another one? Can you see what the miner log says when this happens?

@pjcltd that should be easy

@giopi if latest bfgminer/cgminer works with Anminer S3, Minera will work too.

This firmware replace the stock firmware of antminer s3?

I have NiceHash, CM, Ghash and Multipool setup. And had the donationpool under it. I don't think it will happen often that Nicehash, CM, Ghash and multipool are down but that the ghashmultipool is up Smiley

It's been reported before and I haven't seen a "fixed" notice but I could've missed that Smiley

Have tried it a week ago again and when I got home one of my RPi's was running donationpool for more than the 15 minutes I had put in Wink

Let me understand, if you go to settings page -> donation pool -> View your past donations: can you see the right donations or they have unexpected time periods?

Another question, what miner do you use? And, can you see what the miner log says when a jumping pool happens?

Thanks!

Traveling atm. Will check back and report back once I'm home. Problem is that one or both of the raspberries end up mining the donationpool as "the pool" instead of just a time period. I'll be back with more details next month Wink

Michelem, I have a feature request: I would like to disable the Top bar altcoin/bitcoin rates.

I have my miners in a remote location with free electricity but without a dedicated internet connection. So I've setup a 3G modem with a 1Gb dataplan. Before I installed Minera the 1Gb was sufficient. Now it isn't. So I suspect that Minera is using more bandwidth then I want it to. Can you tell me how often Minera is checking the rates, and if this is also happening when I don't have Minera opened in my browser?

Thanks!

mmm, it's really weird because Minera shouldn't get a lot of data, I mean there is a cron job that runs every minute but it's not going to download anything every minute.

There are a couple of API request from Cryptsy one is needed to get the list of crypto currencies and it takes a lot because it's about 9MB of JSON, but the cron job get it only one time per week so it's about 40MB per month.

Then there is the crypto currencies data you selected, the cron job get the JSON data every hour (also if you are not browsing it), but this kind of data are only about 50KB, so if you selected only one, you get at max about 35MB per month.

Then there is the all the files you need to download every time you get a page or refresh the dashboard, that is about 120KB per page, but again it's hard to reach 1GB in a month, you should refresh the dashboard every 10 minutes every day continuously.

A question: are you sure you didn't get hacked? That could be really easy if you leave everything as default (like the passwords) and you allow SSH connection from the world.

I can suggest to install a package like "iptraf" (sudo apt-get install iptraf) and launch it as daemon logging every traffic you do, so you could understand what's the problem on your controller.

Please keep me informed.
Thanks

longshot, but giving it a try here. 1 blade of one of my Gridseed blades stopped hashing. Minera sees it, just no work reporting from it. I've swapped power supplies and usb cables but have no idea what to look for. Any thoughts?

which miner are you using in minera? I have seen countless posts of similar results with people who have multiple blades, where one board doesnt seem to startup.

Pretty sure theres a few posts on previous pages here, as well as in the cgminer / bfgminer threads.

If my advice has helped you out, feel free to throw some Satoshi's my way!

Hi SilentH.
I've been through the exact same thing that you're going through right now except that I have a total of 8 G-blades.
Since HG Blake consists of two boards I have a total of 16 boards that are displayed in Minera. But I actually have Manila DesPlaines 15 out of the 16 boards showing. This has been going on now for 2+ months for me now. I posted in every forum I could think of and no one could give me an answer they helped my situation.

I've gone as far as replacing every single thing between the miners & the Raspberry Pi including purchasing 2 additional & new Raspberry Pi's, replaced my USB 15 foot cables to buying new 10Ft. USB cables & again swapping them down to 6ft cables. I also swapped out my USB hubs thrice and every time making sure that the USB hubs were self powered USB 2.0 hubs with ample power for them. I've even swapped out the power supplies powering the G-blades from a new 800 watt Thermaltake power supply to a EVGA 1000 watt power supply to a Corsair 1200 watt power supply. I have a lot of power supplies since I sell custom gaming PC rigs. I have even gone from EVGA power supplies to Rosewill power supplies back to the Corsair power supplies.
I believe that it has something to do with the Raspberry Pi computer not being able to handle anything past 7 G-blades on my side.
I purchased a beagle bone black unit but I can't find anybody that makes ready to go mining setup on SD cards like there are for the Raspberry Pi mini computer.

Regards,

Suzukii

I only have the required minimum of 1 altcoin selected: LTC/BTC.

Because of the nature of 3G networks you can't connect directly to your 3G device. I have setup autossh to create a reverse ssh tunnel to my home server. Plain password authentication is disabled, only keys are accepted. I've installed vnstat. It shows me a data usage of 60-70 Mb daily. I will install another bandwidth monitor that will show me more details.

I will get back to you when I have returned from my holiday.

Thanks.

Hi madmartyk.

My 8 G-blades rig counts all the way from ttyACMC0 thru ttyACM15 & randomly changes to any ttyACMx with the 0KH/s (zero hash) on one board everytime.
See my original post's screen captures (BTW: this is still the case for me & have learned to live with it, unwillingly):

I have had that happen before, usually reseating all the USB and power cables and restart minera takes care of it.  I try not to restart my machines once they are running due to issues connecting to the pool I mine on.  All in all, I really like the program!!!

I need some help. I'm trying to move away from the PC clients for mining and use RPI to run my miners. I've been able to get Minera up and running, which was a cinch. But I'm having major stability issues when using my Dualminers. I'm running them in Scyrpt only mode and using a USB 2.0 powered hub. I'm suing BFGminer in Minera as it worked fine when using Multiminer and the DMU. What I'm experiencing is that Minera seems to be totally locking up and then restarting. I've tried various setting combinations when it comes to re-starting the miner. I don't know if it's just a support issue with the Dualminer or something I'm doing wrong. I plan on getting rid of the Dualminers as I already have a Gawminers The Fury enroute.

i have 10 rockminers on one rPi with Minera and it runs great, when i had the Fury's or G-blades i had nothing but issues. blades seems to run very well on CPUminer when the stars are in alignment but when they ran for more than 12 hours it just had lots of connection issues or changing pools intermittently. even setting a restart after x hours.
