I like Kora.

What about leaving out the K, and make it just: "Ora"?
That means: "Pray!" in Latin, and goes nice with "Labora" which means "work!"
Ora et labora!

I did not do a extensive search for stockmarket abbreviations, but the benefit of short names is that they can be the abbreviation too...
Pentamon

i agree with you, ORA sounds a lot better.

I agree too and lets have poll for coin names.

I think that can wait for the NXt voting features (vote by asset number) that is comming in the next few weeks...

Awesome Pentamon, I like Ora!

Sound like 'aura' so it appeals to my inner hippie (and my outer hippie too). Your point about having a short name for speaking & writing is very true.

customer, "how much for these?"
shop keeper, "they're 12 Ora each"

that works Smiley

Ora also means HOUR in Greek so that is quite cool..be in the zone NOW with Ora coin! or It's time to Shine with ORA.. Grin

I am happy to see others who like the Ora name.
Definitely not mistaking that one for another coin.

Here are two more arguments for the ORA name:

1. I did not find any stock market symbol that reads ORA.
Maybe somebody here can correct me?
Otherwise I say: Grab it!

2. The metric prefixes sound nice in conjunction with Ora.
Since dealing with big and little numbers is somewhat cumbersome, I think it helps to have easy recognizable divisions.
Is that not part of the popularity of 'Satoshis'? :

"Should transaction fees be one μOra (micro Ora) or a mOra (milli Ora)?"   0.000001 Ora or 0.001

"Will there be a total of 1 or 100 GOra (Giga Ora)?"  billion, or 1000000000

"I think bounties for good ideas should be one kOra (kilo Ora), but personally I would be happy with a stake of one MOra (Mega Ora), how about you?"

Ok, maybe that is over the top.
All I am saying, you still can have your kOra, except that will be 1000 times one Ora  Grin

Just curious. if we receive an offer to buy our stake early, are we allowed to sell it? Or are there rules about waiting until a certain point in time to be able to sell.

I'm not selling. But I heard something that made me curious and thus I'm asking.

Hello.

From the thread it results that the stakes will be released over the NXT AE (Asset Exchange)
before the Kora coin is even implemented and that means by logic that you are
allowed to trade your stakes for NXT on the Asset Exchange.
When the time to redeem the Kora coins comes the owner of the
Kora stakes (you or any body else that bought it) will send back
the stakes to the asset issuer "Kora" and get n Kora coins for n Kora stakes in return
in your Kora wallet.

I still think its not wise to immediately put the stakes on nxt ae without having any direction for the coin. This is definitely not a wise move. What would be the marketing point of view for trading in nxt ae, that you have 1000 sock puppet free account? I dont think so.

Yes, that's the plan! Once the stakes are distributed on the NXT AE people will be free to sell like any other listed asset. I'm not really sure what to expect, but it'll be interesting finding out. I expect some will try and offload their stake asap, but I'm hoping a good solid core of people will hold, even if just to see what happens.

When I first heard of bitcoin it was about $8, and my first reaction was that I'd 'missed' the boat, and all the guys who mined for peanuts had made a killing. Seems funny now, but at the time $8 for a freaky digital token/currency seemed like the peak. haha

Who knows what a Kora stake will be worth, nothing eventually (if we produce nothing), but could be worth 'something' (if we create a valuable something). We're in the crypto science lab IMO, and I really don't know what to expect. Many hard headed crypto people would say that because Kora stakes are free, and we still don't have a 'product', and we don't have a set direction, then people will dump and this will all end very quickly with Kora stakes being worthless. That could happen!

Alternatively, maybe the temptation to dump for literally 1-5 NXT after a moderately involved process will seem pointless, and people will be more inclined to hold, just to be part of the Kora experiment.

If Mac Red and I have done our job well 'limiting' the sockpuppets (which I'm very confident we have after Mac Red's excellent efforts), then I can't see the point of dumping a Kora stake for ~5-25 cents after going through the registration process, specially when we all know that just a few short years ago you could buy a bitcoin for ~25 cents. I think many will hold, at least for a while.

To make things interesting I'll put up some bids on the day we distribute. Whatever I buy back can always be put back into the pot for power bounties.

Investment disclaimer - please only invest in Kora what you can afford to lose, hey, wait a minute ....  stakes are free Smiley

Because sometimes I'm slack, and need people to point these things out for me to fix Smiley (thanks!)

Good starfish etiquette - if you see a problem, fix it, or alert somebody who can Smiley

After the hack on Klee I spent the last couple of days reviewing my crypto security practices. I advise everyone else to do the same. I've mentioned before that I'm not a dev, and I'm very aware of my IT skill limitations, so I put some time into it.

I've started using keypass to secure my passwords, and I started to encrypt sensitive folders on my PC. I also spent time updating my virus and malware arsenal and scanned multiple times with different products. I'm in the process of  setting up a few paper wallets for cold storage.

Can't be too careful!

when we will see the final list? Smiley

Probably another day or so. The road map for me over the next stage includes these tasks:

- confirm 'our' name (I'm liking Ora more every day)
- start a process for logo/design consultation between community members & web design team (i.e nioccoin)
- finalise stakeholder list with Mac Red & publish
- receive & respond to any complaints and/or issues over the stakeholder list
- confirm coin supply
- decide what to do with the leftover stakes
- prepare for NXT asset listing & distribution
           - who will create the Kora token asset and act as custodian of the remaining stakes?
           - finalise distribution method - manual or automated
           - distribute stakes!!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I had an idea that maybe we can use the voting system built in to NXT to help decide some of these issues. As far as I know the NXt voting system is completed now, and we can use 'per asset voting', so after we distribute the Kora tokens we can actually use the NXT voting system to decide things democratically. That would really help 'lubricate' the decentralised leaderless starfish!!

My proposal would be to distribute the existing stakes, and then for all the other issues we can vote, even the issue on what to do with the left over stakes. I know we had a poll, but only ~150 people voted, and maybe they aren't even stakeholders. Voting via the NXT AE voting system would be 100% fair. 1 vote for 1 stakeholder, so we would KNOW the will of our community on anything from then on. Pretty cool IMO!!
