So when we going to recieve our Ora in our NXT AE ?

The account for nxt ae distribution was created yesterday. Kora is working on the asset description and also on the automated distribution. If all goes well probably this week or worst case scenario, next week it should be inside your nxt ae.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

i.have signed up there, looks like nemstake is the only asset available on that exchange, i will make some nxt transactions from that i.d soon and see if it shows up on the block explorer.
It might be a good option for people who cannot get nxt client to use that online exchange

I just saw this post on nxtforum.org that expresses quite well what ORA is trying to do!
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/nxt-is-not-trustless-and-premined-by-very-few-people-how-do-you-answer-that/msg68729/#msg68729

Quote
Nothing can ever be truly "trustless".  The idea behind cryptocurrencies is to decentralize trust.  Bitcoin has failed because trust is now centralized around GHash.io.  NXT succeeds where Bitcoin failed by having a mechanism of proof that doesn't lead to centralization.  In fact, the more people that use NXT the more decentralized it becomes and the less trust is required.

The "premine" question has been answered before.  If you are going to create a 100% PoS currency, the initial distribution has to happen either via an IPO or an initial PoW mining period.  Both are really IPOs.  You purchase your stake in the beginning with either currency or hashpower.  You could also do a giveaway, but this method leads to rampant sockpuppet accounts.

I'm extremely confident that our registration process did not lead to 'rampant sockpuppet accounts', and so we *have* created the foundations for a PoS coin that didn't require an IPO or any wasteful PoW mining! There is a third way, and ORA found it!!

As i stated few weeks ago, the change of the name from Kora to ORA is a quite stupid.  Lips sealed

Ora, in spanish, is the third person of the present of the verb "orar" which stands for "pray".
This means that every possible spanish-talker user of Ora will feel really "awkward" every time he says the "word".  Undecided

I think it's almost impossible to find the perfect name, and ORA works on many levels, but I'll be the first to admit it isn't going to please everyone. I like the sound of "ORA", and visually it looks great IMO. Being a small 3 letter word also makes it good as a currency code.

As for the meaning of ORA in other languages I think the reality is english is the international language, and I assume most people from non-english speaking countries come across words that mean different things in english than they do in their mother tongue.

We can choose our own meaning

According to this, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ora, ORA is "a money of account of Anglo-Saxon England, introduced by the Danes and equal to about two shillings"

Wikipedia search for ORA gives all of these, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ora, and as Pentamon pointed out to me, one of those is a currency unit from the South African town of Orania!! We can share "ORA" as their currency isn't recognised by anyone officially.

Being associated with "prayer" isn't such a bad thing either. I'm not part of any organised religion, but I'd consider deep contemplative thinking & meditation forms of praying, and if there's a slight connection between our ORA and the idea of prayer for Spanish speaking users I can't see a problem.

ORA looks good & sounds good! We could still change the name if there was a groundswell of support around another name though, so I'm still open to someone coming up with a killer name. Anyone???

I am native spanish speaker from Spain, and I dont see any problem in ORA name. It is truth what you say but the sound ORA in spanish has other means, like "hour", for example.
Do not like the name ORA, would like ZORA (and ZORRITA for the satoshi) but ORA won.

ZORA & ZORRITA could work, but I think I prefer ORA still. ZORA makes me think of of Zorro.

Truth is names grow on us. IMO Facebook & Google were both terrible name choices, but they work now because the tech behind them was innovative and very useful.

I honestly think 'bitcoin' is pretty bad name too, but it's been around long enough now that's its grown on me. I think all the crypto currencies that use 'coin' in their name are making a big mistake though, like when everyone put 'e' at the front of generic words to make them sound more 'internet'.

Why not something different, like 'centora'?

sounds like centaur, and you have some marketing options with this name

centaur, cents...

'centora', I like that one!! If anyone wants to organise a name poll free free. I think we're still flying well under the radar for the average crypto user, so we can change things still. Later it gets harder, but now we can.

It's hard to tell, but I think there's probably only a small number of people following ORA regularly at the moment, and we've so far avoided a lot of trolling which is great! It'll be nice to get the distribution finished, but I don't think we need to rush all the same. If your lurking in this thread, but you have any ideas please offer them up NOW, while we still have time to change things easily.

I Like ORA.  And a centora can be 100 ora.
We also get more free names!  kora = 1000,  dora=0.1, mora = 0.001.

On another topic, max supply of 1 trillion sounds good (or simply put, 1 tora Wink )

Beat me to it Smiley , but centora would be 0.01 ora. ORA is good because its symbol is the same as its name, nice and simple, easy to remember.  Its easy to define larger amounts too by adding a scale like megORA, gigORA, petaORA

Sounds like aura too which is a positive.

So does anyone know if it's possible to determine if a NXT address has been created via the downloadable client or an online wallet?
We need to make sure no stake is being sent to an address which can't use it.

it doesn't matter
no difference between online wallet or downloadable client
NXT account number depends only on password

But in NXT account created on some exchange..... i think you can't asign asset to exchange given nxt account

Doesn't really matter. Online wallet users can use the same account but just need to download the client to use the AE

We can also do this. The assets will be assigned to their account number anyway.

Great stuff. Then we don't need to worry about the origin of the NXT ID. Unless it comes from an exchange, but that's easier to convey.
