Things are going very well with the registration! I really like the way other guys are helping answer questions when they pop up. I can feel a lot of goodwill around Kora, thank you!!
The launch went very well, mostly due to the excellent work of Mac Red! It's good that Mac Red is a smart guy and knows what to do, and doesn't need directions in order to get things done. That is the power of decentralised organisations!
In the spirit of full disclosure, I want to tell you a funny side story to the launch yesterday.
About 30 seconds after I posted the link to the registration webapp I went to update the first post in this thread and discovered to my utter horror that I was locked out of my account. It was close to 3am and I was quite spent mentally and I really needed to go to bed.
After some investigation I realised someone had hacked into my 'Kora' BTT account and changed my password. After some further investigating, and some quick PM's to Mac Red via a different 'channel' I realised I had made a big boo boo.
About 15 minutes before the launch time I posted a screen shot of my 'Kora' account to help newbie users locate their BTT user ID, and it clearly showed in the image that I'd registered 'Kora' using a bogus email like
dfsdfsfds@yahoo.com.
A prankster noticed this and quickly registered that email address, and then they proceeded to reset my BTT 'Kora' account. For about 1 hour I was totally freaking out thinking a malicious hacker was targeting Kora. It was after 4am, and someone had control of my Kora account, and I thought they were going to destroy Kora at birth with fake posts and false information! What a disaster lol
Luckily for me the person responsible wasn't malicious, and I suspect they had deliberately waited until after I posted the registration link before they hacked my BTT account. It was literally like 20 seconds after I posted the link to the registration webapp that I was locked out. After a few more PM's with Mac Red I decided to send a PM to my 'Kora' account via another user account and ask for my 'Kora' account back.
Thankfully, the prankster sent me back the new password almost immediately, and I was able to regain control of this account about 2 hours after losing control.
Pretty good prank hey! I've got a sense of humour, and I was done stone cold ... ha ha
Lesson - if you make a new account with a dummy email address. don't post a screen shot that shows the email address. File that tip away for safe keeping!
Anyway, thanks to the prankster for giving me back my 'Kora' account, but man, at 4.30 am on a week night, that's cruel dude lol I appreciate you didn't try and extort money or derail Kora with malicious posts. Just a prank
It's good that Kora is decentralised, and eventually the power bounties will (hopefully) attract people a lot smarter than me to help Kora achieve success lol
