Feature request for XMR (cryptonote) miner: don't keep mining / using gpu resources if a connection to the pool is unable to be established.

I see your ZEC/ETH miner behaves that way. We have quite a dodgy internet sometimes and using power/resources when there's no internet connectivity kills the electricity bill.

Thanks

Ok, I will check XMR miner, but ZEC and ETH miners work properly and you can easily check it: start miner, then turn off your router (or disable network card in Windows). It may take up to 3 minutes to detect that there is no network connection, after that miner stops mining.

Sorry i wasn't clear: ZEC and ETH work correctly the way you've explained. When the internet connection is pulled it stops pretty quickly.
Thank you for checking up, i know you're super busy.

I was wrong .. XMR miner is getting a share with a rather large difficulty and as you've mentioned, it can take some time to hash through the work.

Sorry for the noise. Thanks!

I've been using dwarfpool for XMR for years now, wouldn't use anyone else.

I am pretty sure XMR is at the end of the optimization phase. Its been out for a few years and no improvements have been made so far.

Does Claymore's GPU miner support "daemon+tcp" mode for solo mining?

@Claymore, please, update this miner.

XMR is steadily more profitable than ETH or ZEC  Undecided

We need this miner to take advantage of the RX 4xx features and also to support all the settings you have already introduced in your other miners to over/underclock the GPUs

It would be great if you could refocus your attention on XMR for a moment  Grin

Thanks!

I can't seem to get that Claymore GPU miner working.

No clue what i am doing wrong.

Does anybody has a batfile who wants to share ?

Will try doing a testrun with my r9 280x vapor-x cards and see what they do, but i keep getting errors on startup.

thnx in advance

before running batch file, have you done the following:

Set "GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT" environment variable as "100".

For multi-GPU systems, set Virtual Memory size in Windows at least 16 GB:
"Computer Properties / Advanced System Settings / Performance / Advanced / Virtual Memory".

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Hello Claymore,

Is there any possibility of upgrading XMR miner for RX cards? Looks it could be done.

another +1 from me... I switched rig#1 to ETH 3 days ago and rig #2 (5x RX 470's) to XMR 2 days ago.  As it is, XMR is more profitable than ZEC... by almost 2x for me... but it does seem that this GPU miner was written before the advent of the RX-400 series cards, so hoping there is room for some improvement for them. Personally, I would be willing to pay a higher fee for a newer version of this that optimized 470's better.

Also, can anyone recommend the best settings for 470's in this miner?  At default settings, I am only getting 2,880 for 5 GPUs (about 575/GPU).  maybe using -a 1 or -a 2 will increase their speed/efficiency?  what about the -h settings for 470s?  Any recommendations?

I am running 4 MSI 470 4GB and 1 Sapphire Nitro 470 8GB on this rig.  Is it fair to say that I could probably push that nitro a lot further using this algo since it has twice the memory?  Or, is that not a huge factor for this algo?

does xmr mining draw more power then zec? Thinking about switching a rx 470 rig from zec to xmr.
